REPORT OF WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK CELEBRATION

AUGUST, 2019

“EMPOWER PARENTS; ENABLE BREAST FEEDING”

Shri Vinoba Bhave College of Nursing, under the aegis of Directorate of Medical & Health

Service, Dadra & Nagar Haveli has organized Breast feeding week celebration from 1st to 7

th

August, 2019. The theme for the celebration is “Breast feeding –Empower Parents; Enable

Breast feeding”. There were various activities planned to create awareness on breast feeding

under the guidance of Dr. Prof. A. Kanimozhi, Principal, SVBCOn, Silvassa. The programme

was inaugurated on 1st of August, 2019 under the chairmanship of respected Dr. V K Das,

Director, Medical and Health Services, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu. The special

invitees Dr. Hinaben Ravikant Patel, HOD, Department of OBG, Government Medical

College, Silvassa done the unveiling of the theme, Dr. Zubair Khan, Neonatologist, Shri

Vinoba Bhave Civil hospital, Silvassa explained about benefits of breastfeeding.

PUPPET SHOW

Puppet show Inaugurated by our respected Dr. V K Das, Director, Medical and Health

Services, DNH & DD. It was organized by Ms. Kaveri Pandya, Associate Professor, Dept. of

OBG.N, SVBCON, Silvassa and Mrs. Laena Phebe, Assistant Professor, Dept. of PHN,

SVBCON, Silvassa by B.Sc.N Fourth year students. They were explaining about Importance

of Breastfeeding and Exclusive breastfeeding. Approximately 50 postnatal mothers were

participated in the programme. It was really a very interesting and mind blowing show.

QUIZ COMPETITION

Quiz Competition on Lactation Management was conducted for postnatal mothers. Winners

were given prizes for their participation. Mothers were actively participated and very curious

to know about Role of parents on Breastfeeding.

POSTER COMPETITION

On 3rd

of August 2019, Mr. Sudheendra Mutalik Desai, Associate Prof. Dept. of PHN,

SVBCON, Silvassa & Ms. Priya Sharma, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CHN, SVBCON,

Silvassa conducted Poster competition between 10.00 am to 11.00 am in the Multipurpose

Hall, SVBCON on the theme “Empower Parents; Enable Breast feeding”. B.Sc.Nursing

3rd

Year and 4th

Year were participated and the evaluation was done by Sister In-charges of

Maternal and Child Health Unit, Mrs. Reshma Rawat and Mrs. Jolly Lis John. First and

Second prizes were secured by Ms.Anuja Nair, B.Sc.N Fourth year and Ms.Forum Patel,

B.Sc.N Third Year respectively. Students were prepared more number of colorful posters

related to the theme.

PUPPET SHOW WITH SONG ENACTMENT AT SDH, KHANVEL

Puppet show with Song enactment was conducted on 3rd

of August 2019 at 11.00 am in Sub

District hospital, Khanvel under the supervision of Ms.Anjali N Prajapati, Asst. Professor,

Dept. of OBG.N, SVBCON and Ms.Mehzbeen Navsariwala, Sister Tutor, SVBCON. In this

event 12 Final Year B.Sc. Nursing students of Shri Vinoba Bhave College of Nursing have

participated and educated Antenatal, Post-natal mothers and other Public on importance of

Breast feeding through Puppet show. Around 60 mothers were benefitted out of this show.

PUPPET SHOW WITH SONG ENACTMENT AT CHC, DADRA

Puppet show with Song enactment was conducted on 5th

of August 2019 at 11.00 am in

Community Health Center, Dadra under the supervision of Mr.Sudheendra Mutalikadesai,

Associate Professor, Dept. of PHN, SVBCON, Silvassa and Mrs.Nikcy Sister Tutor,

SVBCON, Silvassa. In this event 12 Final Year B.Sc. Nursing students of Shri Vinoba Bhave

College of Nursing have participated and educated all the mothers, ANMs, ASHA workers

and other Public on importance of Breast feeding through Puppet show. Dr.Keyur Desai,

Medical Officer of CHC, Dadra was Present and addressed the mothers on significance of

Breast feeding after the Puppet show. Around 45 mothers were benefitted out of it.

ROLE PLAY AT CHC, RAKHOLI

Role play with Song enactment was conducted on 5th

of August 2019 at 11.00 am in

Community health center Dadra under the supervision of Mr.Amar Mulla, Assistant

Professor, Ms.Tripal Choudhari, Sister Tutor of SVBCON . In this event 12 Final Year B.Sc.

Nursing students of Shri Vinoba Bhave College of Nursing have participated and educated all

the mothers, ANMs, ASHA workers and other Public on importance of Breast feeding

through Puppet show. Dr.Pramod Kokare, Medical Officer, CHC, Dadra addressed the

mothers on significance of Breast feeding after the Puppet show. Around 60 mothers were

benefitted out of it.

HANDCRAFT

On 5th

of August 2019 4th

Year B. Sc Nursing students have demonstrated handcrafting to the

mothers of Gynaec Unit under the supervision of Ms.Kaveri Pandya, Associate professor and

Mrs.Leana Phebe, Assistant Professor. In this demonstration students have shown making

Zafla, Langot & Topi. All mothers have actively participated and re demonstrated.

HEALTH TALK

On 6th

of August 2019, Health talk on Breast feeding was Conducted by students of 4th

year

B. Sc Nursing in Obstetric Unit, Gyneac Unit and New Gyneac Unit of SVBCH, Silvassa

under the supervision of Mrs. Vadivukkarasi.P, Proffessor, Ms.Kaveri Pandya, Asso.Prof,

Ms.Anjali Prajapati, Asst Prof, Mrs.Bincy Mathew, Nursing tutor, Mrs.Nikcy, Nursing tutor,

Ms.Tripal Choudhari, Nursing tutor and Ms.Mehzbeen Navsariwala, Nursing tutor. After the

health education Mothers have interacted and clarified their doubts on techniques and other

aspects of Breast feeding.
