NEW NORDENew Norde is a shopping centre located in central Tallinn, between the main passenger port and old town, next to the main traffic routes. Norde Centrum was opened in 2002 and remains one of the most visited shopping centers in central Tallinn, with 10,000 visitors per day. The centre is anchored by Rimi (foodstore) and has easy surface level parking. Thus the location of Norde Centrum near the port and with its large Rimi food store anchor, establish the centre firmly in the local retail hierarchy as an important shopping destination in the City Centre.More than 50% of Norde visitors are tourists.

LOCATIONThe location of New Norde is easy, great both for pedestrians and visitors with cars. The centre can be reached within a 10 min walk from old town and 5 minutes from the CBD area. Its location next to Ahtri and Jõe street, the main traffic routes to and from the city center and port, result in 40,000 cars passing New Norde per day.

In the coming years North Passage will be built to guide traffic around the City Centre. This will increase traffic flows even more past the centre and improve the access further for visitors. Right next to New Norde is Tallinn passenger port offering fast ferry connections between Tallinn and Helsinki and other destinations. The crossing to Helsinki takes only 1.5 hours and there are over 12 departures per day. Other destinations available via ferry include Stockholm and St Petersburg.

PORTLocated next to New Norde is Tallinn passenger port, with over 9.5 million passengers per annum, offering daily connections to Helsinki, Stockholm and St. Petersburg. Terminal D is right next to New Norde and has the highest passenger numbers of the port (60% of all passengers). This unique location makes New Norde a gateway to Tallinn for visitors to the city centre and the historic old town. This also makes New Norde a great place for passengers leaving by ferry to do their last minute shopping and wait for their departure ferry (there is a direct link showing departure times in the centre).

Over 50% of these passengers visit Nord Centrum at present and this is expected to grow to 70% once the new entrance to the port is completed.

SITE PLANNew Norde will offer more convenient access both for pedestrians and visitors with cars.

The public route from the port to central Tallinn will be improved. Part of the proposal to enlarge the New Norde is to improve the main entrance into the centre directly from the port and to provide a more convenient and safer route into the centre. New pedestrian crossing points at the front of the centre across Ahtri Street will be provided.

New Norde does and will offer the easiest parking in the city centre for visitors arriving by car - it is the only central town shopping centre offering easy surface parking.
