31 Air-conditioners, 15 Dessert Coolers and 25 Heaters installed at official residence of former Delhi Chief Minister (RTI response attached) It refers to Central Public Works Department (CPWD) providing under RTI response a list of fixtures and equipments installed at official residence of the then Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit revealing amongst others as much as 31 air-conditioners, 15 dessert-coolers and 25 heaters installed at official residence 3, Motilal Nehru Marg, New Delhi of the then Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit. Consumption of electricity and expenses on such a large fleet of electrical equipments can be well imagined that too at a time when ‘austerity-drive’ was there in existence with shortage of electricity for commoners having been a common phenomenon. Our elected representatives should be role-model citizens adopting austerity in their personal lives especially when it is at cost of tax-payers’ money. Enquiry should also be made if former Delhi Chief Minister was entitled for such princely facilities, and necessary action may be taken against concerned ones responsible for allowing expenses more than permissible limit. It may be recalled that former prime Minister Dr Manmohansingh who is now allotted the same bungalow as his post-retirement government-accommodation, had ensured expenses for renovation and refurnishing of the bungalow to be done only under permissible limit. There are reports that many highly placed persons in various Commissions etc including like at Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) get huge amount of money spent on installing costly equipments where permissible expense limit by CPWD is not found enough. It should be ensured that only CPWD provided equipments etc may be installed at all government-accommodations. Any person misusing office/post for getting installed equipments or making other expenses on official residence by the public-authority of posting may be immediately terminated also as a deterrent for others.

The AC's /Fixture have been partially utilized in variolls Govt. offices as per the requirement. The remainting Air conditioners /fixtures shall be utilized as and when requirement arises.
