ShARE organized its 6th World Seminar in Shanghai from the 7th to 10th December. Under the theme “better

business, better life”, in collaboration with the Yunus Centre, the cabinet of Nobel Prize Mohammad Yunus (founder

of the Grameen Bank), one of the main purpose of this seminar was to raise the questions and debate the answers

on how to optimize the power of business to better serve the human being needs.

ShARE is an international student’s non-profit think-tank set-up in Shanghai, in 2002. Now present in more than 10

countries and over 25 top universities, ShARE connects talented students to corporate and social leaders to discuss

world economic and social issues through presentations, projects, conferences and debates. Our long-term goal is

to generate, share and use knowledge to contribute to regions’ human, social and economic development.

ShARE believes that business is one of the most efficient ways to solve social and development problems. The

development of a sound business environment has taken many developing countries out from poverty. However the

power of business has also its drawbacks. The current financial crisis or the environment crisis provide two evidences

where business did not serve the cause of the society but rather jeopardize it.

The seminar spanned over 4 days in which we particularly looked at these issues through three different topics:

Energy and Transport, Finance and Social Businesses. In each day we focused on particular topics, shared knowledge

about them and debated the outcomes. One of the days also included a trip to Shanghai to better explore the city.

From what powers our world; the evolution of electric vehicles and the latest technologies and sources of energy for

our cars; to the recent successes of social businesses around the world and the case of AIDS fight in China; without

forgetting the outlook and prospects of the current financial crisis and the latest developments of the Hong Kong

bond markets; many were the topics that we discussed with the experts during our conferences.

But we didn’t stop there and our members also participated in a series of workshops dedicated to devise work plans

addressing various socioeconomical issues. Ranging through healthcare, ICT, business practices, energy, finance,

entrepreneurship and others, the seminar participants are still today continuing to work on what they debated

during the seminar days.

Hoping that the impact of this seminar produces some long-term developments, we present in this report further

details that can inspire those who weren’t able to join us, to make remember those who lived this intense days

together and share with everyone what a ShARE World Seminar is all about.

On the occasion of this 6th ShARE World Seminar, ShARE joined hand with the cabinet of Nobel Prize ProfessorYunus, the Yunus Centre, to organize the first ever Social Business Plan Contest in China.

A "social business" is a non-loss non-dividend company which aims to achieve a social, ethical or environmental goalwhile being financially self-sufficient. According to Prof. Yunus, a Social Business should follow certain principles.

The contest was open to all students of Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan university, ZhejiangUniversity, Beijing University and to all members of ShARE. It was split in two different phases and managed throughan online platform. The first phase focused on the idea and plan, while the second on its implementation.

The business plans ranged from the fields of Energy, ICT and Healthcare. They were evaluated on their idea, structure, format and presentation, by a judge panel composed of experts of Social Business from the Yunus Centre,Chi Heng Foundation, QiFang, an ex-BCG consultant from ShARE-Alumni and the Seminar’s audience.

The final winner will be invited by ShARE and the Yunus Centre to a 5 days trip in Bangladesh. The winner will beannounced in ShARE’s website

The finalists were from 8 different countries and 7 universities. The topics of their business plans are the following:

There are times in people’s lives when they forget everything else and wish that the prevailing times

never change. ShARE World Seminar 2010 in Shanghai was one of such occasions for me. You name

anything that a ShARE member could ask for and it was there: wonderful friends to meet, great

experts to learn from, beautiful places to go to, challenging workshop to anticipate in, experienced

alumni to network with, readymade markets to shop and excellent cuisine to dine ! Though words

cannot be used to describe this dreamland, you can find its photographs in this report. While this

would give you a flavour of the ‘best ever ShARE World Seminar’, I would recommend you to visit

Shanghai to experience it live! Cheers!

Brotherhood, fun, and the future, these are what I feel when I attend ShARE world conference. Yeah…,

I got great memory because of warm acceptance of organizer committees and ShARE members. They

not only show professionalism how to manage the event, but also be true friends. I can mention Alec,

Rituraj, Monica, Yooky, Harsh, Summeyye, Nowack, Amit, Saurabh, Peter, Jason, Keith, Pavel, Ankit,

Xiashou, Wanyan, Bao, Mudit, and my roommate Hugo and others I’m really happy to know you guys.

Further, I sense the future. Right now I’m just student, yeah…, I know it. But who know ten, fifteen

years later. I’m just too exciting to imagine that I got as CEO and the one calling me is businessman

whom I have met in ShARE world seminar

ShARE World Seminar was an excellent experience, in terms of learning, in terms of the exposure that

we got and the amazing level of hospitality, by the SJTU team. The World Economic Forum workshops

were a great learning experience, as we worked on some wonderful topics, across networks and

countries, thereby giving us a very different perspective. When we had started planning for the trip,

there were some aspirations and key takeaways in mind, from the seminar. After coming back, I think

we have much more take-aways that we could have ever thought. Kudos to ShARE and the SJTU team.

In ShARE we're always in communication through e-mails, through skype etc. We talk, discuss so many

times on many issues. The World Seminar gave the opportunity to dress faces for those voices, the

opportunity to talk, discuss face to face. I'm very happy to meet my friends and also have many new

friends. The seminar was one of the zipped times of life that we had lectures, workshops, even contest

which all taught us a lot in a very short time. However, the best part of the seminar was, for sure, the

people we met from all over the world from many teams. They all had in common: they're all ShARErs

and are really very kind great people!

I learnt a lot from the people the things that I cannot learn from any lecture from any book. Thanks

everyone for coming and being my friends!!

What I could write in here can be better told through photographs. If only I could sing properly :) Apart

from that, saying that I managed to loose two flights in a row summarizes how much I wanted to stay

in Shanghai a couple more days, just to experience a little bit longer this Seminar’s wonderful feeling.

With ‘saudade’ and hoping to see you all next year,

I brought with me many memories, desires and ambitions. Very different from the ones that I carried to Shanghai. Being inanother city with a language that is completely different, with food that is eaten with just two chop-sticks and withovercrowded streets full of colorful lights, moved me to another world dimension. However, I had the privilege of meetingShanghai with people from 7 different nationalities, which made this adventure even more exciting. I recall the last dinnerthere, where I was speaking in Portuguese and listening conversations in English and in Polish at the same time. And all thataround the same table, around the same goal, sharing many ways of communicating and thinking. Beautiful! The more Iknew the more I felt that I don’t know nothing and that I’m increasing my conscious of being an eternal apprentice.Knowledge, cultureandtalentconvergedintheatmospherethatwasbeingcreatedbyall thosewhowereexperiencingthisSeminar. Thespirit shared wasbased in asentencethat translatesa very passionate wayof living, thatobligatesourselvestoget deeper in everything we do at any time in any place all over in the world: “workhard, playhard“. We had lectures where we could hear speakers from 3 different areas. And,besides the knowledge and the work experience that we learnt, we also had the opportunity to discuss and pose questionthatwererelatedtoourworkinPortugal, evenhelpingusasstudentstogetpreparedtotheprofessional life.Definitely, Iamvery proud ofbeingaShARE memberand Ihad too much pleasure in sharingthoughts, feelingsand knowledgewithall theteams.Because, infact, whatwesharemakeuswanttolearnevenmoreandtobebetterpeopleinabetterworld. I’mverythankfulforexperiencing theShAREWorldSeminar2010 inShanghai.

This is the first time that I've ever participated in the ShARE World Seminar. And actually I am lucky enough to

be one of the major organizers of this year's seminar. The preparation process is long and painstaking, but it's

totally worth it. When I first sent out the invitation to all the ShARE members, I was pretty worried about how

many people could finally make it since the air tickets these days are quite costly. But later it turned out that

people were so excited about the seminar and nearly 90 people signed up for it. Usually there will be a high

drop rate near the event but this year very, very few people dropped out. And when I finally met all of them in

Shanghai, it's the best experience ever. Our friendships quickly built up over the 4-day seminar and although

we come from different cultures, it never bothers us to open freely to each other and it's so hard to say

goodbye. For the seminar itself, it's one of the most successful events I've ever seen. All the attendees were

fully engaged in every activity and everyone enjoyed so much. We are honored to have the senior

representative of IMF China, President of Valeo and other distinguished guest speakers to deliver high-profile

speeches. Also with the collaboration with Yunus Center, our social business day brought the whole seminar to

the climax and concluded the 4-day event with perfection and a touching ending. Now I can't wait for the next

year's seminar and it's definitelygonna be more awesome and so is ShARE! We rock!

This world seminar was a great opportunity for me to understand 'ShARE'. It has also provided us a great

platform to share outstanding ideas with excellent students all around the world. It's awesome to enjoy a

whole week with all kinds of students, to spread our knowledge, to better understand the world and the

society and to make friends with each other. I really enjoyed it!

This is the first time for me to participate the ShARE World Seminar. Before I started the journey, I feltexcited and I was sure it would be impressive. Only after I come back can I realize the great impactthat all of the ShARErs exerted on me. It is a so amazing experience that till now the memory justcannot stop lingering in my mind. It's such a pity that we've been together for a short time and wentback in our own way. But I believe we would meet again, won't we? At that moment, we needn't sayanything, but just a smile can tell everything! That must be moving and wonderful!

How time flies! The year 2010 has almost passed. I will mark this year as the “ShARE Year” in my life: joining one

global project in the beginning, acting as the President of ShARE-SJTU and organizing World Seminar in the following.

ShARE has helped me to grow from just a lucky girl into a professional project manager. ShARE has given me the

opportunity to open my mind, work under pressure and develop a team spirit. I never thought I could make that

many friends within a year, no matter in and abroad , and just because of ShARE!

About the World Seminar, even 2000 words can not express my feeling entirely. To tell you the truth, I was too

scared to undertake the World Seminar at beginning, that such heavy workload and detailed preparing really made

me upset.

Thanks to Sebastien, I was encouraged to go past my limits and discover I could do more.

Thanks to my team in SJTU, I am still so moved by their passion and enthusiasm. They supported every plan I

requested, perfected every detail and worked with me not just one week, when the Seminar was being held, but for

nearly 3 months, from the first thought, to the final feedback. All the success about World Seminar is contributed to

everyone. I am so lucky to be one of them.

No matter where we are, no matter what are we going for, we are a family now. Sincerely inviting you to Shanghai,

to China again, and also hoping we can meet in every corner of the “Global village”!

At last, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I do believe the story about ShARE and ourselves will

continue in the coming year!

Contact me whenever you want!
