Shannon Trail SystemNorthern Highland American Legion State Forest
Welcome!Shannon Trail System terrain is gently rolling with a variety of timber types. The loop around Shannon Lake is especially scenic. Shannon Trail System is groomed, for winter activities, by a local volunteer. The green trail is intermediate and the rest of the loops are classified as novice. Approximately half of the trail winds through an area that was logged in 1976, 2000 and again in 2010. The remainder meanders through a variety of northern hardwoods. Leashed pets are allowed on this trail. No fee or pass is required.
Trail Rules• A Wisconsin State Trail Pass is not required for the Shannon Trail System. • Carry out all litter and waste. • No motorized vehicles allowed. • A lost and found service is maintained at Crystal Lake and Clear Lake Visitor Stations. If lost items are found, please turn them in at one of these visitor stations. Help us return items to their rightful owners.
Shannon Trail System is a popular fat tire biking trail.
A scenic boardwalk is part of the trail.
