Pre-Order Measurements
• Using the guidelines outlined in the “Ordering Motorized Shades” presentations we measured the width in 3 places
• Note the commercial construction features tape and spackle instead of the wood jamb extender found in most residential applications
• Because of the spackle, measure in the location the bracket will be mounted, the width can fluctuate by a ½” from in by the window to out by the wall
• Tips
• Use a stick ruler or tape measure
• When measuring for the shade length you don’t have to be as accurate because too long or a little too short can be changed by resetting limits

Unpacking The Brackets

Installation Overview
• Determine the bracket placement
• For our installation we are installing shades with a 5% openness. It is possible that we might install blackout shades behind them at some time in the future
• We used a 2nd bracket as a spacer to determine the distance to the window
• The space is not necessary; however, it made it easier to run the wire and to service the motor

Motor Orientation
• The top 3-pin port is the RS-485 port
• The 2-pin connector in the middle is for 12VDC power
• When the motor is hung, you will want the 4-pin port for the limit setting tool accessible
• Orient the motor so the limit configuration port is most accessible
• The 2 screws can be removed (red) and the motor mount adapter can be rotated
• If necessary there are 2 additional screw holes (green)

Understanding the Brackets
• The fascia snaps onto the bracket (shown). It is a good idea to do a dry run connecting the bracket to the fascia. Hold the complete assembly in place before installing the brackets. The fascia simply snaps in place and can be easily removed.
• The spring pin connects into the center hole of the bracket.
• The two hooks on the end of the motor slide into the two notches in the bracket
• The spring pin gives approximately ½” of play which greatly reduces the need for shimming

Hanging the Shades
• The single most important installation point is that the brackets must be perfectly level
• When a shade tube is not level, the fabric can creep as it rolls up and down
• The easiest way to insert the shade is to place the pin with a spring into the bracket hole. Push the spring in to clear the brackets and drop to 2 motor notches into the bracket.
• The image above shows a roller shade without fascia. In most cases this would be covered with a cornice or fabric solution provided by the customer
• Fascia provides a cleaner look especially in commercial installations

Communication Wiring
• A pull string was fished by the motor location for the permanent power and communication connections
• 2 conductors were soldiered to the communication cable (green is not used) and 16/2 to the power connector. The soldiered connections were placed in heat shrink and fed through the hole in the bracket
• The top connector (RS-485) is shown in these pictures
• In our installation, the 24VDC power supply is centralized for all of the shades
• Dimensions are shown for the single shade plug-in power supply. Use this approach when power will be provided at the shade
