Show Secretary’s Welcome

A warm welcome to all competitors and visitors and I hope you will enjoy these shows.

We hope that if you are not already a member of the Sway Gardening Club, you may wish to

join. The annual membership fee is £10.00 per annum due on the third Thursday in January

each year. All guests are very welcome at any evening meeting at a cost of £2.

All meetings are held in the Sway Village Hall on the third Thursday of each month except

March, August and December. The monthly programme consists of talks, demonstrations and

special events and visits to places of interest. The current years programme is on page 17 of

the Show Schedule and includes booking form for the various visits planned throughout the

year. During each evening meeting there is a stall of plants provided by members of the club.

Donations of plants for this stall are always very welcome.

There are two annual flower shows. The spring show in March consists mainly of spring

flowers and floral art displays. The summer flower show is traditionally country flowers and

vegetables incorporating floral art, home produce and a photography competition.

The Sway Gardening Club, on a biennial basis, organise the Sway Open Gardens. In 2009

over 1350 people were attracted to this event and helped the club to raise over £10,000 for the

Oakhaven Hospice Trust in Lymington. The next Open Gardens will be on 12th June 2011 and

planning is now well under way. Help is required from people willing to open their gardens

and those interested in assisting with the organisation. If you would like to be associated with

this prestigious event please contact Tom King.

The club is indebted to all Local Businesses which have sponsored trophies in our shows and

if you would like to sponsor a class within any one of our shows please contact the Show

Secretary, or the Assistant Show Secretary.

You can keep up to date with the latest events on our Gardening Club website at

www.swaygardeningclub.co.uk. Feel free to download our entry forms for the Spring and Summer

Shows and keep abreast of the latest news about Open Gardens 2011.

Good Luck to you all.
