Our Patroness St. Clare

The feast of St. Clare is

on August 11. We will officially celebrate our Patroness Feast on the weekend

of August 12-13

with refreshments after each Mass, and on Sunday, the 13th

we will have our big Open House for the whole community to come and take tours of our church.

We also celebrate our Patroness by joining with our own Poor Clare Nuns who provide a most beautiful Novena

to St. Clare the nine days leading up to the feast. Please notice the schedule in this bulletin and join our

dear Sisters in prayer for at least one of the nights. I am so honored to be the presider for

the novena on Thursday, August 3.

Our parish continues to pray for the David and Christina Bereda Family on the tragic loss of two of their three children, Brennan and Finley, in a fatal car accident last week. Their son, Jorden is in stable condition. I brought your loving pray-ers with me as I attended the funeral this Saturday morning at Ascension Church in Kettering, Ohio. Fr. Jim Deiters

Voca on Corner Every day Jesus asks us, “Who is the center of your life?” Are you living under My rule or under yours? If we live under our own rule it can move us to ignore our weaknesses as we take all the credit for our good-ness. Of course, it is humbling to say, “Jesus I want You to be the center of my life.” Yet the more we begin each day by praying these words, the more we will find ourselves filled with an incredible peace. We will also find every thought and every action under Jesus’ rule so that we can give Him glory. Let us treat Him like the royal Guest that He is and allow Him to guide us in tending His flock towards eternal life.” The Word Among Us, July 2016, pg.80.

July 22/23 Tithe: $21,397.00 New Church: $ 2,285.00

“One man gives freely, yet grows all the richer; Another withholds what he should give, And only suffers want.” Proverbs 11:24

You Did It For Me 82 year old Jeannie came to the US in 1989 on a VISA status. She worked as a housekeeper for three decades. Years ago a lawyer told Jeannie that he could help her gain citizenship. He charged $2500. Jeannie paid, but she never heard from the lawyer again. Jeannie was afraid of being deported. One Sunday, she read in a church bulletin that Catholic Charities had an im-migration services office. She made an appoint-ment. The case manager explained everything and walked Jeannie through the whole citizenship application process. Today she is a citizen. Catholic Charities provided immigration services to 323,151 clients in 2015. To learn more, visit www.CatholicCharitiesUSA.org

RESPECT LIFE CORNER

Caring for Loved Ones at Life’s End - An old Irish proverb says, “It is in the shelter of each other that the people live.” Indeed, we are created to depend upon one another and walk together in suffering. When family members or friends approach life’s end, we may not know how best to “shelter” them.

Learn, Act, Connect, Pray: Accompanying a loved one in his or her last days is enormously important work, but we do not need to fear our own limitations. Your own quiet, patient presence can provide important support. As you enter into this season with your friend or family member, ask God to accompany both of you.
