THE WALL OF SUCCESS! Proud of our successful and talented pupils!

APRIL FOOLS' DAY

Although it's not a national holiday, it's a fun day when

people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other. April

Fools’ Day is celebrated on 1st April every year.

HAPPY EASTER Easter is a Christian festival and holiday celebrating

the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This year it was celebrated on 31st March 2013, during our spring

break and followed by Easter Monday (this year also April Fools’ Day). Our Školska zadruga organized an

exhibition and a sale of the products our pupils hand-made with their teachers in the workshops - Easter

greeting cards, eggs, ceramic pendants, crosses and baskets, jewellery and mirrors. The salespeople were

of course - the pupils!

COUNTY-LEVEL COMPETITIONS

Our students attended all the

county-level competitions they qualified for. They were successful, especially in

technical education. Under the mentorship of teacher Bosiljka

Lihtar, Martina Bencek (5.a) won the 4th place in model and

layout design, Stela Majetić (8.a) won the 3rd place in

electronics and exceptional Lucija Čurković (8.c) won the 1st

place in electronics and in doing so, she qualified for the

state-level competition. CONGRATULATIONS AND

GOOD LUCK! ☺

Year 2013, No.2

Issue: March and April

Do your best! - these are the words all the pupils on the WALL OF SUCCESS have heard so many times before going to their tournaments, performances, shows and competitions. After a short survey among our teachers, we realized our school is full of talented young people who are not only excellent pupils, but also very successful singers, dancers, athletes (football, handball, shot put, bowling, wrestling, swimming, karate, judo, taekwondo, ice-hockey), first-aid providers, musicians (flute, violin, guitar), young firemen and so on. We are all very proud of you and we hope you will continue to do your best and be as successful, hard-working and persistent as you have been so far. Good luck!

TTHHEE CCRROOOODDSS The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure created by DreamWorks. There are a lot of tense events and interesting characters. The story is about the first family in the world that is moving into an adventure and discovering the world. A happy cave family that is struggling to survive in the country. Together they go on a hunt and fight powerful monsters. They learn about human life and become used to human customs. They find a magical world of animals and finally meet - the

man. They cross some great obstacles and finally reach their goal. They continue to live with their new family member and together as one big happy family.

Marija (5.a) says that this is truly one od the finest animated cartoons she has ever watched and that the best part for her was when they met a human being.

TTHHEE MMYYSSTTEERRIIOOUUSS BBOOYY The Mysteriuos Boy (“Zagonetni dječak”) is a Croatian children’s movie based on the book by Ivan Kušan and directed by Dražen Žarković. It’s a story about a brave and resourceful boy Koko and his friends Toma and Marijana, who try to find out more about a mysterious classmate

Marko…and so the adventure begins. On 12th April the fifth graders went to the Cineplexx cinema to watch

the movie. The theme was: “You must be persistent”. Ana Đ. (5.a) says that the movie was interesting, exciting and beautiful. She liked it

because pupils from Sesvete Primary School were alone in the cinema, they ate popcorn and drank Coke and the movie was very funny.

Shine bright like a diamond Shine bright like a diamond

Find light in the beautiful sea

I choose to be happy You and I, you and I

We’re like diamonds in the sky

You’re a shooting star I see A vision of ecstasy

When you hold me, I’m alive We’re like diamonds in the sky

I knew that we’d become one right away

Oh, right away At first sight I left the energy of sun rays

I saw the life inside your eyes

So shine bright, tonight you and I We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Eye to eye, so alive We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

TTHHEE BBEESSTT DDAAYY AATT MMYY OOUUTTDDOOOORR SSCCHHOOOOLL I was in the outdoor school. At 7 a.m. I made my bed and went to the big kitchen. Breakfast was delicious. We had eggs, cheese, salami and bread. Desert was yummy - I had chocolate and fruit. At 11 a.m. we went to Rovinj. I wasn’t sick on the bus. We were singing a song on the microphone. Rovinj was beautiful. I needed a jacket, socks, T-shirt,

jeans, shoes, a compass and a bag. There was some fruit, juice and a sandwich in the bag. The sea was very beautiful. I bought a souvenir. At 6 p.m. we had dinner. We had a hot dog. At 8 p.m. we organised a happy dance. Klara and I were dancing as small cats. At 10 p.m. I went to bed. This was the best day at my outdoor school.

Dora, 5.b

TTHHEE BBEESSTT DDAAYY OOFF MMYY LLIIFFEE The best day of my life would be if I could go to the USA with my family and my best friend Bernarda.  For the past three years I have wanted to go to the USA, more precisely, to New York and see the Statue of Liberty. I also want to walk the streets of New York and go on a shopping spree. We would buy a lot of things and we would bring a lot of souvenirs home. If I were lucky, maybe I would see one of the Kardashian girls. I would like to stay there for at least a week so I could see everything I wanted. Although my English is already good, I could improve it even more there. I think I would have the time of my life and I would never forget it. The best time of the year would be the summertime because I don’t want to have backlogs at school and I usually don’t have much to do during the summer. I hope my wishes will come true.

Lucija, 5.d

MMYY DDRREEAAMM RROOOOMM My room would be big and tidy.

There would be a few shelves full of books. Also there would be a beautiful painting and a beautiful bed. I would have a big wardrobe and a strange clock on my wall. In the corner there would be a boxing bag and boxing gloves. By the way, there would be a lamp on the shelf and a wall full of

posters and pictures of my family and, of course, of my friends. And one last thing, there would be a chest of drawers.

Anamaria, 5,d

CCHHEEEESSEECCAAKKEE Beautiful, classic cheesecake, tangy and sweet, with a velvety smooth and rich texture.

Another New York specialty and a must-try when you visit the Big Apple. Crust 150 g butter 3 spoons of sugar 1 cup of whole wheat cookies (Grancereale or Digestive) Mix all the ingredients, lay the mixture in a round pan and put in the oven for 5 minutes (180°C). Topping 1 3 spoons of sugar 1 packet of cottage cheese with sour cream 1 lemon 4 eggs Mix all the ingredients and pour the mixture on the crust. Bake for 20 minutes (220°C). Topping 2 1 cream 3 spoons of sugar 3 packets of vanilla-flavoured sugar Whip the cream and put it on top of the cheesecake. Put it in the oven, lower the temperature to 150°C and turn the oven off after 5 minutes. Cool and refrigerate (keep it in the fridge for one whole day - if you manage to keep your fingers off the cake!!! ☺). Serve it with fresh fruit or syrup. Enjoy your delicious home-made New York cheesecake! Ana K., 5.a

The Maserati Quattroporte is a luxury four-door saloon made by Maserati in Italy and the latest model will

come out in summer. The price of V8 model engine

will definitely be more than one million kunas.

Maserati Quattroporte is a sedan size like Mercedes S-class or BMW serial 7,

but it is different from other cars because it is primarily

aimed at the driver. Maximum luxury mixes

with perfect driving performances.

New Quattroporte is 526 cm long and with its 1900 kg, it

is much lighter than its predecessor. Basic engine is 3-liters V6 engine with 2 turbochargers and 410 hp.

More impressive is 3.8- litres V8 engine with 2

turbocharges, too. Its 530 horse powers meet the

performances of a super sport coupe.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 kph is 4.7 seconds and maximum speed is 307

kph. In combination with a weaker engine it is

possible to get power on all four wheels.

Price details are not known yet. (MB)

Water polo is a team water sport which involves two teams of seven members

and one of them is a goalkeeper. The winner is the team that scores the

most goals. Little player equipment is needed to play water polo -

a ball, caps, goals, sometimes a mouthguard and always a swimsuit. It became an Olympic sport in 1900 Paris Olympics.

Croatian water polo team is the most successful national

team because they have won the biggest number of medals on all major world competitions, the last one being the gold medal in 2012 London Olympics.

Ratko Rudić is also the

most successful coach ever, acclaimed by the

International Swimming Hall of Fame. (GK)

In the Middle Ages,

people believed that it protected them from witches and it was an

Today, people use it only like a spice,

games. Many other subcategories developed

from this game, for example “Beat ‘em up”

PPS, 3D platforms,, adventures, etc. were

created.

One of the most famous

games of this type is Super Mario Bros.

Nowadays most action games are made in
