    DoneincollaborationwithHealthProfessionsHighSchoolandtwoindustrypartners.

    8thgradeMesascienceclassesfromtwodifferentmiddleschoolsparticipated,foratotalofapproximately75kids.

    First,spentahalfdayatthehighschool;thehighschoolstudentswiththeteacherscreatedanddeliveredtheprogram.

    FollowedbyahalfdayatShrinersHospitalwithguestspeakersandinteractivetablesandlunch.

  • HEALTHPATHWAYSSUMMERINSTITUTE

    PartnershipwithCAPandCRANE,regionalCCPTgrantees,andindustry.

    Oneweek(36hours)instituteforhighschoolteacherstolearnaboutcommunitycollegehealthprogramsandindustry.

    15teachersparticipated,eachearned2unitsofcollegecreditandastipend.

    Teacherslearnedaboutthecommunitycollegesandtheirhealthprogramsinthemorning.

    Gainedhands-onexperienceandexposuretovarioushealthcarecareersatindustrysitesintheafternoon.

    Teachersdidafinalprojectdevelopingalessonplanandpresentingittotheothers.

    Placementissues:valueofcollaborationtoeasetransitiontopost-secondary.Notteachingthemtolookatcollege,thenmajor,thencareer.Rather,itshouldbelookingatcareer,thenmajors,thencollegeswithprograms.
