TEXTGENESIS 28: 10 – 19

Genesis 28:10-19

First altar erected in Luz – Genesis 28: 10-19

Luz which simply means “almond tree”

“LUZ” - “BETHEL”

 

“CERTAIN PLACE” - “AWESOME PLACE”

 

 

3 THINGS HAPPENED

1.A REVELATION OF

THE PERSON OF GOD

• vs 12 – “Jacob had a dream…”

vs 13 – “There above it stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac…….”

 

 

The presence of God can come in 3 Dimensions: The presence of God can come in 3 Dimensions:  The presence of God can come in 3 Dimensions: 

Presence of God comes in 3 Dimensions :

1.The Omnipresence of God

2. The Practiced Presence of God

3. The Manifested Presence of God

When the condition of our hearts are right, when the timing is right, God may manifest Himself in tangible ways.

 

Matthew 5: 6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

2. A REVELATION OF THE PURPOSE

OF GOD

vs 13b – 14 – “I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.”

 

We are blessed to be a blessing ! 

 The “top-line and bottom-line” theology:Genesis 12: 2 – 3 (NKJV) – “I will make you a

great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; (Top Line) and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (Bottom Line)”

 

Psalm 67: 1 – 2 (NKJV) – “God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us. (Top Line) That your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. (Bottom Line)”

Genesis 28: 14 (NKJV) – “Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you will spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; (Top Line) and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth will be blessed. (Bottom Line)”

Matthew 28: 18b - 19 – “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me (Top Line)…Go therefore…(Bottom Line)”

 Psalm 2: 8 (NKJV) - “Ask of me and I will give you the nations for your inheritance…”

3. A RESPONSE FROM A PERSON OF PASSION

“The proof of the passion

is in the pursuit.”

CONCLUSION:Second altar erected in Luz - Genesis 35: 6 -7

 

Genesis 35:6-7 - “Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan. There he built an altar, and he called the place El Bethel, because it was there that God revealed Himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.”

Bethel (The House of God) - El Bethel (The God of this House)

CONCLUSION :
