DEATH NOTICE MILLS, Filena Ermina - Filena joyously danced her way to Heaven on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. It is with profound sadness but also deep gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce her passing. She was born to James and Eva Martin 95 years ago and was raised in Sunnidale Township. She will be lovingly remembered for her sincerity, warmth and sense of humour by her children Dennis, Diane, Joan, John (Lynda), stepdaughter Joan (Dennis Millsap) and 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Clarence, Percy, Ernie, Ed, Harry, Sid and sisters Gertie Weatherall and Dorothy Willard. Lovingly remembered by sister Rene Whitley and brothers-in-law Maurice Weatherall and Roy Willard. Predeceased by husbands Jack Rainbird, Clarence Honsberger and W.G. (Shorty) Mills, granddaughter Julie Rainbird and daughter-in-law Marg Rainbird. She was a bookkeeper by profession and a life member of the Avening Women’s Institute. Jack and Filena were one of the driving forces in the building of the Avening Community Hall and she continued to volunteer there and looked forward to all the community dances. She was an active volunteer at the Stayner Nursing Home and the Huronia Guest Home. The family is asking you to join in the celebration of Filena’s life at Centennial United Church, corner of William and Oak Streets, Stayner on Saturday September 14, 2013 at 11 o’clock. Visitation and lunch will follow the service in the Church Hall. Honouring Filena’s wish, cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home - Stayner Chapel (705-428-2637). Friends and family planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider Centennial United Church or Avening Community Hall.
