B9 Y orkton This Week | www.Y orktonThisWeek.com | Wednesday, September 23, 2015 TRATCH - Mrs. Stella Tratch of Yorkton, formerly of the Dobrowody district, beloved wife of the late William Tratch passed away peacefully at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home on September 15, 2015 with her daughter Phyllis by her side. Stella was born on December 16, 1915 to Alex and Frances (Wionzek) Diakow on a farm north of Buchanan, SK. She was the third in a family of eight children. Stella attended “Olesha” country school until Grade 8. After this, she moved to her sister Cecelia’s in Wadena, SK where she assisted in caring for her family for 4 years. Stella then returned home because her parents needed help with all the chores on the family farm. The main source of enter- tainment at that time was the many dances held in the community. This is where she met her soulmate, William (“Bill”). In 1939, Bill and Stella were united in marriage at the Buchanan Ukrainian Catholic Church. Following their marriage, they resided on Bill’s family farm with his parents and took care of them for the next 20 years. Living on the farm at that time consisted of a lot of hard work such as milking cows, raising pigs, cattle and chickens and grain farming as a source of food and income. They also had a large vegetable garden which provided fresh produce in the summer and preserves for the winter. In 1957, they had power installed at their farm, making their work somewhat easier with milking machines, many electrical appliances and freezers for meat and vegetables. Bill and Stella were blessed with 5 children: Clara, Jeanette, Phyllis, Russell and LaVerne. Bill and Stella farmed for 33 years. In 1972 they moved to Yorkton where Bill delivered fuel for Petro-Can while Stella was a homemaker. They made many car trips to Edmonton where most of Stella’s siblings lived as well as to British Columbia. After Bill’s retirement, they enjoyed a bus tour to Expo, the Icefields in BC, as well as travelled with friends to Clear Lake, MB, and the Peace Gardens in North Dakota. Another favourite pastime was fishing with friends at Lake of the Prairies. Bill and Stella were also active members of the “Golden Agers” and spent many afternoons playing cards and bingo. Many evenings were also spent playing cards with a special group of friends. Stella often talked about the wonderful memories enjoyed on all their trips, including Los Angeles where they visited Disney Land for their 40th Anniversary and Las Vegas for their 80th birthdays. In 1997, Bill and Stella purchased a condo in Yorkton. With Bill’s passing in 2002 and Stella’s health & mobility changes in 2003, she moved into a suite at the Bentley Retirement Community. She enjoyed her life there with full service meals and house- keeping. Stella thrived there for the next 12 years. On December 27, 2014, Stella fell and suffered a pelvic fracture. After spending two months in the hospital, she was transferred to long term care in Norquay. Stella was then transferred to Country Meadows at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home, where she resided until her passing. Stella was predeceased by her husband Bill (2002); daughter Clara Boyko (1965); granddaughter Carmen (2000); sons-in-law John Tymoschuk (1990) and Orest Lazaruk (2000); parents Alex and Frances Diakow; Bill’s parents John and Mary Tratch; siblings: Cecelia (Steve) Wesolowski, Emily (Andrew) Babiuk, Paul (Rose) Diakow and Joseph Diakow (in infancy). Vichnaya Pamyat! Eternal Memory! DIDUCK - Anton (Tony) Diduck of the Wroxton district passed away peacefully on September 9, 2015 with family by his side. He was 88 years of age. Anton was born on February 15, 1927 on his parent’s farm three miles east of Wroxton. Anton was the eighth of twelve children born to Klem and Malanka (nee Lushney) Diduck of Wroxton, SK. Anton said his parents thought family were cheaper by the dozen and his father, Klem had his own ball team of nine boys. Anton completed his grade eight at Wroxton School. On July 18, 1953 he married Mary Puchala of the Dneiper SK area. They were blessed with four children: Gloria and Greg (twins-1955), Adrienne (1957) and Sheldon (1964), eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memories of special times were made together. Dad and mom parted ways in 1995. In the last fifteen years he shared his life with Mary Miller and they enjoyed farming together. Dad enjoyed being around his family and friends, attending church, building the Wroxton Community Centre, being an RM councillor and working together while he was able. Hard work and good working ethics were instilled in his family. Dad liked to visit, tell stories and jokes and provide laughter to those around him. He did his best to make a joke of a difficult situation. When his doctor told him in July he had liver and pancreatic cancer and his remaining life on earth would be shorter than he hoped, Dad asked “if the ones that had gone before him might be happy to see him?” Dad operated a cattle and grain farm which was only a mile east of where he was raised. He loved to attend auction sales and was known by all the local auctioneers. Dad lived life the best he knew how with great dreams and visions. Frances Grace Wessing (Young) was born on August 29, 1940 to Vernon & Mathilda Young, the oldest of twelve children. She was raised and lived on a farm all her life in the Parkerview district, except for two years when she lived in Yorkton. She left school at an early age to help raise her siblings. She was given the nickname ‘Hansey’ and was still called that name to this day. She was united in marriage to Joe Wessing in 1958 and was blessed with a son Wayne and a daughter Isabel. Her grand- children, David & Sandra were her pride and joy. She would do anything for them and spoiled them rotten. Several years ago Ashton came into our lives and she made her one of ours. She loved all three equally. She loved kids, the more she had around, the merrier. She was called Granny or Grandma by most. She usually had a treat for all of them and spoiled them. She decorated for all the holidays, but by far her most favourite was Christmas, with decorations and lights everywhere. And her baking, it was OMG good. Frances loved to garden, she grew enough to feed the whole RM. Her passion was her flowers, she would spend hours attending to them. This year she got her large flower bed and it was full. There wasn’t room for another plant. Her home was always open to visits from family and friends, whether it be a cup of coffee, a visit, or a place to stay. She enjoyed the company of others and the coffee pot was always on. She also loved to be in the pasture, tending to the cattle, whether it was feeding them or vaccination time. Frances had a great love of Ukrainian music. She listened to the Old Time Dance Party on CJGX radio every Saturday evening. She was not happy if a football or hockey game was on that night. Her favourite Ukrainian music CD’s were constantly on at home. Predeceased by her husband Joe; son Wayne; son-in-law, Ray; brothers: Gordon, Ralph and Rodney and by sisters: Mary (infancy), Pearl, Dorothy & Rose. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Isabel Senga of Parkerview; grandchildren: David Senga of Saskatoon and Sandra Senga of Saskatoon; Ashton Currie of Holdfast; two brothers: Floyd (Lorraine) Young of Regina, Richard (Marilyn) Young of Regina; three sisters: Phyllis Zastrisny of Sheho, Hazel LeBlanc of Moose Jaw and Rita Young of Melville; numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Friday, September 18, 2015 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, B.Th. officiating. Hymns played were “The Old Rugged Cross” , “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden” . Granddaughter Sandra gave the family tribute. The interment took place in the Theodore Town Cemetery with Sheldon Moldowan, Kelly Young, Willie Zuchkan, Jim Young, Gord Snyder and Ben Meszaros serving as the casket bearers. WESSING - Frances Wessing, late of the Parkerview district passed away on September 14, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 75 years of age.

Hymns played were “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden”. Granddaughter Sandra gave the family tribute. The interment took place in the Theodore Town Cemetery with Sheldon Moldowan, Kelly Young, Willie Zuchkan, Jim Young, Gord Snyder and Ben Meszaros serving as the casket bearers. GABORA - At the age of 61 years, Jerry James Gabora, beloved husband of Jan Gabora of Canora, SK passed away on September 14, 2015. Jerry was born on November 30, 1953, the third of four sons born to Sam and Mary (Sokolowski) Gabora of the Canora District. He attended elementary schools in West Wexford and Canora and graduated from Canora Composite High School in 1972. In 1973, he completed Electrical Pre-Employ- ment in Yorkton, SK. Jerry took great pride in farming and continued to work with his father. In 1975, Jerry was united in marriage to Janet Labinowicz. They relocated to Prince Albert where Jerry would pursue his electrical appren- ticeship with Pearson Electric and obtain an Interprovincial Journeyman License. While in Prince Albert, Jerry and Jan were blessed with two sons: Jason in 1977 and Jeff in 1980. Jerry continued farming and playing in the band, commuting back and forth from Prince

Albert to Canora. Thus, the decision was made to move back and make Canora their permanent home. In 1980, they established their own business, Gabora Electric Ltd., farmed three quarters of land and Jerry continued to play in the band, Georgia and later on with Partners, Brothers and Friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, quading, golfing and cutting grass. As well, he enjoyed hockey and was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Yankees. A kind man, Jerry would sacrifice anything for his family, especially his two sons and two grand- children: Arlyn (6) and Preston (3). It could be said that Jerry’s hobby was ‘people’ as he was quite social, outgoing and instantaneously loved by many. Known for his compassionate, caring personality, Jerry’s smile would put others at ease and it was a blessing to have had him in their lives. He will be missed immensely by all who had the honour of knowing and loving him. Jerry was predeceased by his nephew, Dean in 1995; brother, Merv in 1996; father, Sam in 2004; mother, Mary in 2008; brother, Willard in 2008 and his nephew, Chad in 2014. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jan; sons: Jason (Ysanne) and Jeff (Shannon Filson); brother, Don (Bernadette) Gabora; nieces: Deanna (Reg) Hrywkiw and their daughters, Regan and Logan, Kim (Duane) Beaudry and Amy and Erin Gabora; nephews: Evan Gabora, “Casey” Kenneth Gabora and Sean (Francine) Gabora; sisters-in-law: Linda Mann, Balynda Gabora and Lona Gabora and his treasured grandchildren, Arlyn and Preston; as well as extended family, neighbours and many friends. A Vigil of Prayer was held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 11:00 am, both from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Canora, with Rev. Fr. Franklin Emereuwa officiating. Rite of Committal followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Jerry Gabora. Family and friends unable to attend are invited to sign an on-line guest book for Jerry at www.lesonsfuneralhome.ca. Arrangements were entrusted to LESON’S FUNERAL HOME, Canora.

RICHARDSON - Pastor Russel Richardson left peacefully to be with his Savior on Sunday, September 13, 2015. He was born on November 11, 1911 to Ralph and Lavina Richardson in Stoughton, SK. He was converted to God on November 10, 1935 and immediately felt the call of God to ministry, and started tent evangelism, which he continued for 76 years. In 1950 he met and married the love of his life, Edna Esther Laube and were married on September 29, 1950 and together they evangelized across Canada, the U.S. and overseas. They opened and established 8 churches in 10 years and operated a training centre for 22 years, as well as Radio Ministry over 25 different radio stations for 45 years, which is still continuing today. It was in 1968 that they built the Yorkton Free Pentecostal Church, with the desire to reach as many as possible in the area and Pastor preached until recently. Many souls were saved and a

great number were water baptized throughout the years. His passion was to extend the Kingdom of God, and farming and ranching in his home area of Stoughton enabled him to do that. He never missed an opportunity to pray for someone when they went to town for parts or fuel. Pastor Russel was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Lavina (nee Horner) Richardson; his brother, Bert (Rita) Richardson; two sisters, Lila (Bob) Fenn and Doreen (Ray) Gilby. He is survived by his loving wife Edna (Honey), sisters-in-law, Ann Shindle, Ruth (Evert) Alberts, Marge Laube, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, his fellow ministers and many brothers and sisters in the Lord that were a part of his special life. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Family Worship Centre in Yorkton with Pastor’s collegues, Graham Whalin, Karle Kienle, Pastor Rick Flamont and Pastor Carl Rushton officiating. The pianist Renee Oshowy and organist Caroline Oshowy led in the singing of the hymns. Angus & Anita Vincent sang the selection, “Here I Am To Worship”; Jean Smith sang the hymn, “Welcome Lord Jesus”; Lucille Pritchard sang the hymn, “O Happy Day”; Pastor Carl & Linda Rushton sang “No Tears In Heaven”; Caroline Oshowy & Phyllis King sang “I’m Longing For Jesus”. Words of Welcome were conveyed by Danny Oshowy. The obituary was read by Anita Pearce. A testimony was given by Danny Pritchard. A Tribute was given by Sister Edna Richardson and the closing prayer by Don Bouchard. All of Pastor Russell’s beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord were considered honourary bearers. The interment took place in the Stoughton Town Cemetery with Sam Beutler, Darrell Noyes, Bill Symbalisty, Glen Assman, Leonard Dozorec and James Krichkowski serving as the casket bearers. “I’ll meet you on the eternal shores of the world of tomorrow, where the tears will never fall; there will be no pain or sorrow. All will be well, and together we’ll sing the Victory Song at last. Amen. Memorials honouring Pastor’s life may be made to The Gideons or the Canadian Bible Society. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com.

This attractive two-storey, two-bedroom coach house features an attractive veranda with decorative railings and pilasters that wraps around two sides. The living area is all on the second floor, above the three-car garage.

Entry is up a flight of outside stairs to a shel-tered doorway on the side of the home. Once in the foyer, a coat closet is located to the left, togeth-er with a cupboard for

the stacked washer and dryer, while the interior stairway leading down to the garage is to the right. A skylight brings natural light into the foyer and stairwell.

The living room occu-pies the front of the house, and enjoys french doors onto the veranda, as well as two skylights. Another skylight illumi-nates the dining area, and still another lights the kitchen. In addition, the dining area includes windows on two sides.

The kitchen is sepa-rated from the rest of the living area by a five-sided

prep island. The cook will appreciate the step-saving L-shaped counter configuration, as well as the natural light coming in from the window over the double sink.

Downstairs, the three-car garage is large enough to include space for a workshop, as well as a handy two-piece pow-der room.

This past weekend former graduates of the Yorkton Regional high School, class of 1975 met for their 40th reunion. This class has gotten together for the past 10, 20, 30 and now 40 years. A great weekend was had by all, graduates had travelled from all parts of the country to attend.

Reunion

In 2011, Yorkton Plumbing & Heating sup-ported our 2nd Habitat build on Elizabeth Avenue with a dona-tion of $20,000.00 worth of materials and labour. This helped Habitat put a family of seven into an affordable home. The old-est of the children is now attending the University of Regina Campus in his

first year of University. This is how amazing the contributions made by businesses such as Yorkton Plumbing and Heating and their gener-ous contributions help families get a hand up, not a hand out.

Further to this in 2012, Yorkton Plumbing installed all the heat-ing and ducting in the

Dunlop Build as well. This home was built for a family that emigrated from the Ukraine who through Habitat, were able to afford a home for all 6 of their chil-dren as well as the par-ents. Yorkton Plumbing and Heating’s financial investment of another $ 20,000.00 dollars allowed Habitat to continue to

grow and increase our ability to continue build-ing homes.

For this most recent Habitat build on Myrtle Avenue, Yorkton Plumbing is again investing $30,000 of materials and labour. This build is Habitat Yorkton’s largest under-taking as we are building a Duplex which allows

for two families to settle in to affordable housing and raise their families.

In total, Yorkton Plumbing and Heating has committed in excess of $70,000.00 in dona-tions toward the Habitat for Humanity Building Funds.

We are amazed and blessed by this com-pany’s support and gen-

erous donations toward Habitat for Humanity within the city of Yorkton.

We would like tothank Yorkton Plumbing& Heating for their past and continued supportof Habitat for HumanityAND congratulate themon the grand openingof their new facilitieson Highway #9 North of Yorkton!

A true partner with Habitat for Humanity Yorkton
