THE RECORDS: Saturday marks the fourth week of Ohio Athletic Conference play. Marietta is currently 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the OAC after falling at Baldwin Wallace 52-24 in George Finnie Stadium. John Carroll comes in with a 2-2 overall record and 2-1 record in the OAC after demol-ishing Wilmington 72-14 at home last week.

THE COACHES: Marietta’s Andy Waddle is in his fourth season at the helm of the Pioneer program. He is the 29th head coach in program his-tory. Waddle, a 2003 graduate of Wittenberg University, spent eight sea-sons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, including the last seven as the defensive coordinator prior to coming to Marietta. The Tigers won four North Coast Athletic Conference championships and made trips to the NCAA tournament during Waddle’s time at Wittenberg.

to punt on its next possession and JCU took over at its own 14 yard line. After moving into Pioneer territory, SamKukura broke a 45-yard TD run making it 14-0. The Blue Streaks took a 21-0 lead into halftime and then pushed it to 35-0 at the end of the third quarter. Roger Walker scored on a 7 yard run late in the game to finally get Marietta on the board. Walker rushed for 108 yards on 19 carries. Golphin gained 132 yards and 3 TDs on 15 carries, while Kukura had 117 yards and 2 TDs on 13 carries. Darrien Fields completed 18-of-25 passes for 131 yards for the Pioneers. JCU’s AnthonyMoeglin completed 14-of-16 passes for 136 yards.

THETEAMS:Marietta returns 30 letter winners and 17 starters from last season. The Pioneers welcome back 9 starters on offense, 6 on defense and 2 on special teams. The Pioneers are currently ranked 9th in the OAC in total offense (371.8 ypg) and is 10th in total defense (441.8 ypg). Senior run-ning back Roger Walker is Marietta’s leading rusher averaging 101.5 yards on 64 carries. He has 3 TDs. Junior Darrien Fields has completed 71-of-102 passes for 738 yards and 8 TDs. He has been picked off 4 times. Sophomore wide receiver RyanVanMeter has 18 receptions for 157 yards, while classmate Andrew Barker has 17 receptions for 240 yards and 4 TDs. Linebacker Garrett Davis and defensive back Eric Klopfenstein are Marietta’s leading tacklers. Davis, a junior outside back-er, has 40 tackles, while Klopfenstein, a sophomore, has 27.

SCORINGMACHINE: Senior running back Roger Walker scored a pair of touchdowns two weeks ago against Muskingum giving him 35 for his career and moving him past Dallas Garber (1958-60) into third place on Marietta’s all-time list. Dante Brown holds the Pioneer record with 54 and Kenneth Sasu is second with 43.

92ND SEASON OF OAC PLAY: 2017 marks Marietta College’s 92nd season of Ohio Athletic Conference football. The Pioneers, who joined the league in 1926, are 182-369-11 (.334) all-time in OAC play. Marietta’s lone OAC championship came in 1936 when the Pioneers went 4-0 in league play.

NEXTGAME: The Pioneers travel to Wilmington College for a 2 p.m. Homecoming kickoff. John Carroll returns home to host Ohio Northern University in a 1:30 p.m. match up.
