TABLE OF CONTENTS SENIOR EXPECTATIONS
The Bridge Builder By Will Allen Dromgoole
An old man going a lone highway, Came, at the evening cold and gray, To a chasm vast and deep and wide. Through which was flowing a sullen tide The old man crossed in the twilight dim, The sullen stream had no fear for him; But he turned when safe on the other side And built a bridge to span the tide. “Old man,” sad a fellow pilgrim near, “You are wasting your strength with building here; Your journey will end with the ending day, You never again will pass this way; You’ve crossed the chasm, deep and wide, Why build this bridge at evening tide?” The builder lifted his old gray head; “Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said, “There followed after me-to-day A youth whose feet must pass this way. This chasm that has been as naught to me To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be; He, too, must cross in the twilight dim; Good friend, I am building this bridge for him!”
Dear Parents and Seniors:
CONGRATULATIONS! The beginning of the senior year marks the pinnacle of your high school experience. High school graduation is a milestone in everyone’s lifetime. On behalf of the Edison High School staff, we commend you for the hard work, patience and perseverance in pursuing the goal of high school graduation. This year is very important and exciting for parents and students as we move toward the Class of 2017 Commencement Ceremony on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at the Save Mart Center.
As the senior year is filled with several events, the following information is designed to assist and inform students and their parents in regards to upcoming senior events, estimated costs, and policies and expectations of Edison High School’s Graduation. We provide a variety of organized and enjoyable activities for the senior class during their senior year and encourage all seniors to participate.
As we begin the senior year, we want to remind you of the importance of maintaining good attendance and grades. Seniors need to stay focused on their courses. Although the senior year is an exciting year for our students, please remember that it is also a year of change. Many senior students begin experiencing a variety of emotions that range from excitement and pride to anxiety and uncertainty. It is extremely important that seniors and their parents keep an open line of communication with their family, friends, and teachers.
Last year was the first graduating class that I had the opportunity to see all four years, and this year I have the opportunity to embark on the journey with you as a parent. I have watched the journey of our students for the past four years or more, and what I have noticed about this class in particular is that they are caring individuals who want to make the community a better place for everyone. I found this poem last spring and I think it is relevant to the Class of 2017. They have in their hearts and in their minds the ability to be the bridge builders of their generation. I am proud of who our students have become, and I am proud to be a parent and principal of an Edison High graduate! I look forward to congratulating our students on the completion of their first important step to building their future on Monday, June 5, 2017 With Gratitude,
Lindsay Sanders, Principal .
