    Senior Center

    The mission of the Chandler Community Center is to offer affordable recreational and leisureopportunities for all ages by developing diverse programs and services that encourages citizeninvolvement and a strong active community while striving to promote the social, cultural, andhealthy lifestyles of its residents and visitors.

    The Senior Center is a 10,397-sq.-ft. facility that is dedicated to providing affordable recreationaland leisure opportunities for active, senor adults ages 55 and older. The Center offers diverse

    programs and services that encourage citizen involvement and a strong active community whilestriving to promote the social, cultural, and healthy lifestyles of its residents and visitors. Whennot in use for the Centers own classes and programs, the Senior Centers multipurpose room,game room and lounge are available for private rental. NO FACILITY RENTALS ALLOWEDDURING OPERATIONAL HOURS. The policies, rules, and regulations detailed in this guide arein place to help govern the use of the facility in order to provide a safe and enjoyableatmosphere for our residents, visitors, and staff.

    The Community Centers 6,000 square-foot multipurpose room and classroom are available forprivate rental when not in use for the Centers own classes and programs.

    Hours of operation are as follows:Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.Saturday-Sunday closed

    The Community Center is closed on Presidents, Martin Luther King, Memorial, Fourth of July,Labor, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Days. Daily operational hours do not reflecthours for rentals and after hour activities.

    All StaffCustomer service is top priority at Community Center. All visitors should be greeted with a

    smile and welcomed with enthusiasm. Always be informed on current classes and programs.Dont just meet the expectations of our patronsexceed them!

    Cleanliness of a facility is important from an operations and customer service point of view.The first appearance of a facility will determine the customers opinion of the Center, staff,management and the City of Chandler. Therefore, it is critical that we maintain an impeccably

    clean facility at all times. We ask that everyone assist in maintaining this level of quality serviceand ask that you adhere to a whatever it takes attitude.

    Enforcing Center Rules and regulations is another crucial component of customer service. Inorder to run the Center safely and efficiently, we need your help to enforce all rules andregulations consistently with all patrons, at all times. All Community Center employees areempowered to enforce ALL rules and regulations and are expected to seek the assistance of the

    Facility Manager or Supervisors when situations arise which require further action.

    10 and 5 Rule All Community Center staff are expected to practice the 10 and 5 rule. Thisconcept is simplistic, but powerful. If a pass-holder or guest comes within ten feet of you whileyou are in the Center, you should stop work and personal conversations and acknowledge theperson with a smile. When a member or guest comes within five feet of you, acknowledge theperson by greeting them, and when possible, asking if they need assistance.

    RentalsPriority of UseThe City of Chandler Community Services Department is charged with the responsibility of

    providing a comprehensive program of parks and recreation services, facilities and open spacethat meet the leisure needs of the public. The Community Services Department (CSD) fulfillsthis responsibility in a professional and fair manner.

    Because of the unique nature of the facility and the many demands that are placed on is use, itis necessary to have a clear understanding on the priority of its use.

    First priority of use will be for CSD sponsored/conducted leisure programs and services. It isanticipated that the majority of time and space will be occupied by these public use.

    Second priority of use for any available remaining time will be for periodic general public City ofChandler or Chandler School District uses.

    Third priority of use for any available remaining time after that will be for periodic rentals bycommunity non-profit organizations and groups.

    Fourth priority of use for any available remaining time after that will be for periodic rentals byprivate individuals or corporations.

    Recreation Manager Barbara YoungOverall supervision of Recreation Division.

    Cost Center 4555 Superintendent Sandy Muoz-WeingartenOverall supervision of recreation center, staffing, purchase and acquisitions, financial reports,

    participation reports, facility scheduling, marketing, cash management, recruitment and hiring,capital replacement of furniture and equipment.

    Recreation Coordinator II Facility Manager Erika BerryOversee the supervision of facility activities and rentals. Responsible for the development of acomprehensive special interest program and classes for all ages (preschool to seniors).Supervisor all full time and RPT staff in the facility, booking large group rentals and events.Staff liaison to the Mayors Youth Commission. Communicates with the University of Arizona.

    Recreation Coordinator I Classes/Programs Courtney AllenResponsible for the hiring of contract employee development of a comprehensive specialinterest class program for all ages (pre-school to seniors). Coordinates and implements the

    Apples to Zebras preschool program. Supervise part time staff and facility on weeknights.

    Recreation Coordinator I Youth and Teen Programs Teo RuizResponsible for youth and teen programs such as Teen Lounge Nights, field trips, basketballtournaments, Leaders In Training, and the Teen Talent Show. Develop a comprehensive teenprogram provided for Chandler citizens. Supervise part time staff.

    Customer Service Representatives Debra Baer and Xavier AcostaAnswer telephones, process reservations for ball field lights, process drop-off and mail-inregistrations, pavilion and facility reservations, approves special use permits for, and completesfacility schedule and park postings.
