Literacy Practicum Course Information
Literacy Practicum – typically the semester prior to student teaching. For more information see: http://www.unco.edu/teach/LP.html
Weekly schedule:
Two days (MW or TR) on campus taking methods courses:
EDEL 450 – social studies and math methods
SCED 475 – science methods: specific lecture/lab
EDEL 445 – intermediate literacy methods
EDEL 421 – math practicum
EDEL 446 – Literacy Practicum - two full days (opposite days-methods classes) in an elementary school with an elementary teacher (mentor)
EDEL 450 Students who’ve completed EDRD
319 AND EDEL 350
Take EDEL 450 (4 cr.) Students who’ve taken EDRD 319 OR EDEL 350
Take EDEL 450 (6 cr.) and EDEL 421 (I cr.)
ESL Information ESL concentration requires:
Documentation of foreign language background
