Internal Quality Assurance Report (IQAR) 2007-2008

NATIONAL ASSESSMENT & ACCREDITATION COUNCIL, BANGLORE
PART ‘A’
Keeping in mind the reaccredidation process, in this post accreditation period, the
IQAC channelise the efforts and measures of the institution towards academic excellence.
Already three reports have been submitted to NAAC, Bangalore. This year is announced
by UNO as an International Potato year, so efforts are taken in that direction to create
awareness of individual health. In this year the plan of action chalked by the IQAC in the
beginning of the year is towards the quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by
the end of the year is mentioned below.
Infrastructural planning : Having the need of more classrooms, an auditorium, a ladies’ room, a four-
wheeler parking and one more ladies hostel, our parent institution has permitted to
complete the ladies hostel on priority. Last year University Grants Commission
sanctioned the grant of one crore for the same and the required construction has been
started this year.
Following are the plans to enrich the infrastructural facilities of the college.
1. Extra two-wheeler parking shade
2. College campus extension
3. Plantation on college campus
4. Piped water from Nerli lake.
Curricular Activities :
1. Under University Grants Commission two career oriented courses are started
a. Teaching of English

2. Four short-term certificate courses are arranged at college :
a. Fashion Designing
b. Catering and Cooking
c. Imitation Jewelry
3. MHT-CET counseling center from 1st July, 2007
4. Volunteers’ Training programme on 24th December 2007.
Cultural and Sports Activities:
Bharati Krida Pratishtan, Pune and our institution conducted Zonal and Inter zonal
sports competitions from 23rd December, 2007 to 5th January,2008.
Also through Bharati Kala Academy we conduct zonal and Inter zonal cultural
competitions from 25th December, 2007 to 6th January, 2008.

1. Blood group and Hemoglobin Checking camp
2. Blood Donation Camp
3. Flower arrangement
National Service Scheme: We planned to organize various activities through N.S.S. unit such as :
1. N.S.S. Camp at Hanmant Vadiye in month of November, 2007
2. National Camp at vellore (T.N.) in july 2007
3. International Literacy Day
4. Tree plantation programme in college campus and at MIDC site
5. Path Natya presentation in Kadegaon Tahasil
6. Aids awarness Ralley in Kadegaon and near by villages
7. Ghadage Baba Swachhata Abhiyan programmes in Kadegaon Tahasil
8. Mahatma Gandhi Tanta Mukti Abhiyan programmes in Kadegaon Tahasil

This is a unique scheme two workshops are conducted in Shivaji
University’s jurisdiction. The college conducted the following workshops.
1) One day Workshop on flower arrangements], on 11th February, 2008
2) The Two days’ workshop on Spectroscopic Methods and Reaction
Mechanism, on 12th and 13th February, 2008
5) Research Projects
* This year one major research project is sanctioned to Dr. S. N. Borhade
Department of Commerce, on ‘Financial Management of Ganesh
Mandals in Maharashtra’.

7) Details of Research Scholars
The following staff members of the institute are working as a research guides.
* Dr. D. G. Kanase: He belongs to Department of Chemistry and is the
Principal of this college. He is guiding three Ph.D. students registered in Bharati
Vidyapeeth University, Pune.
* Dr. S.N. Borhade : Being a Commerce faculty. Dr.S.N.Borhade guides four
research students. This year one research student has been registered for Ph.D. in
Shivaji university, Kolhapur under his guidance.
* Dr. S.D.Kulkarni : She is the Head in Depatment of Marathi and Vice
Principal of this college. Under her guidance one Ph.D. and four M.Phil Students
have completed their research works.This year two more students for Ph.D. , and
three students for M.Phil have been registered in Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Also one student has submitted his Ph.D. theses in Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
* This year three minor research projects are submitted to U.G.C. from Chemistry,
Microbiology and Botany department. One major research project has also been
sanctioned to commerce department.
Some of the lecturers Viz. Shri. V.Y. Kadam ( Zoology), Shri. C.E. Patil
(Physics), Shri. S.N. Gotpagar (Chemsitry) Shri. G.V. Mali (Microbiology) and
Shri. S.G. Kamble(Economics) are doing their research works for their Ph.D.
Degree.
8) Honors and Awards to the faculty
* Mrs. M.M. Ghatge of Botany Department has been awarded The Best
Programme Officer in N.S.S. by Sports Authority of India National Camping at
D.K.M. College, Vellore, (Tamil Nadu).

* Shri. G.V. Mali of Microbiology Department has been co-opted as a member,
Board of studies in Microbiology, in Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
9) Community Services
The following activities have been carried out through the N.S.S. unit of the
college as the community services.

10) New requirements There is no new requirements of any full time teacher. However, to fulfill,
the additional workload, the 20 posts are required on clock hour basis. Present
there are 28 fulltime lecturers and 20 Teacher on C.H.B. working in the college.

12) Improvement in the library service Through various grants there are 173 text books titles and 483 reference
book litles are purchased . Four periodicals and one magazine are new additions

in the library this year. Total expenses on library is about Rs. 3,90,018/- ( Three
lakhs ninety thousand and eighteen only)
13) Unit Cost of Education
As per the balance sheet of the college total expenditure by 31st March,
2008 is Rs. 1,70,08,978/- in the academic year (2007-08). The number of
students enrolled this year are 711.
So the unit cost of education for the year as = Rs. 23,922.60/-
14) Increase in Infrastructural facilities
a) Ladies Hostel
New building of the ladies hostel consisting of 36 rooms, a dining hall,
a reading room, a visiting room, car parking, paint room and study room is
about to submit expenses on this building is about Rs. 1.45 corers.
b) Campus area Near about 2 acres of land is purchased by parent institution to fulfill the
future need of this institutions.
c) Plantation:
There are sixty different types of plants ( 750 in nos.) are planted on college campus.
15) Technology up gradation As per requirement we always accept the new technology. We are hoping for :
• Computer and software
• Digital instruments
• Drip irrigation system
• New courses for the students.
• Modern furniture
16) Performance in sports activities

The students of our institution are practising in events like running,
walking, relay, discuss throw, volley-ball and Hand ball. They get participated in
Shivaji University’s Zonal and Inter Zonal Atheletics and sports competitions.
17) Students Achievement and Awardeds:
* Miss. Kum Honmane Pramila Panditrao (B.A.III) wom IInd position in
100 mtr.running- at Zonal Athletic meet of Shivaji University.
* Miss. Kale Swati Nandkumar (B.Com.III) stood Ist in - Discuss throw- in
the competition organised by Sangli Zilha Federation. She was also
represented in State Level competition the same event.
In the Cross Country competition the team of our college ( 6 players)got – Ist
position at Inter zonal Cross country competition of Shivji University,
Kolhapur.( Pl. see Annexure-06)
18) Activities of the Guidance and Counseling cell
a) MHT-CET Centre
To seek easy admission for professional courses, the special Coaching
for entrance exam is given. The students and the experts from our college as
well as from various neighborhood colleges do participate in the activity.
b) Anti-Sexual harassment cell
The whenever required it is necessary, guidance is provided by concern
experts.
• A speech on ‘Anti-sexual harassment Act 2005’was given Mrs. Pooja
Narvad, Principal, Yashwantrao Mohite Law College, Karad on 23rd
feb.2008
c) Student welfare cell
Through this cell the required counseling to the students is given for
their educational awarness, stream and subject option and guidance
for their higher education
