• Facilities that provide goods and service for people are amenities

Characteristic of rural settlements

• Population size and density is low• Depend on primary economic activities such as fishing, farming

and mining• Limited amount of public facilities• Used footpath, unpaved and narrow road to transport• Drinking water may not be clean as it is taken from rivers• The nearest amenities is usually far away• They grow and eat their own food• They have a low standard of life. • They help with each other • They don’t usually leave the area to travel to other place• They have simple way of life • Less air pollution as there is no technology that pollute the

environment
