From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This week we celebrate the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe. Let us all reflect on the meaning of the symbols that are contained in this Image of our Blessed Mother.
The Image of Our Lady is actually an Aztec Pictograph which was read and understood quickly by the Aztec Indians.
THE LADY STOOD IN FRONT OF THE SUN - She was greater than their dreaded sun-god "Huitzilopochtli".
HER FOOT RESTED ON THE CRESCENT MOON - She had clearly vanquished their foremost deity, the feather serpent "Quetzalcoatl".
THE STARS STREWN ACROSS THE MANTLE - She was greater than the stars of heaven which they worshipped. She was a virgin and the Queen of the heavens for Virgo rests over her womb and the northern crown upon her head. She appeared on December 12, 1531, for the stars that she wore are the constellation of stars that appeared in the sky that day!
THE BLUE-GREEN HUE OF HER MANTLE - She was a Queen for she wears the color of royalty.
THE BLACK CROSS ON THE BROOCH AT HER NECK - Her God was that of the Spanish Missionaries, Jesus Christ her son.
THE BLACK BELT - She was with child for she wore the Aztec Maternity Belt.
THE FOUR-PETAL FLOWER OVER THE WOMB - She was the "Mother of God." The flower was a special symbol of life, movement and deity - the center of the universe.
HER HANDS ARE JOINED IN PRAYER - She was not God but clearly there was one greater than her and she pointed her finger to the cross on her brooch.
THE DESIGN ON HER ROSE-COLORED GARMENT - She is the "Queen of the Earth," for she is wearing a map of Mexico telling the Indians exactly where the apparition took place.

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,
THE BLUEâGREEN HUE OF HER HERTLE - Była królową, ponieważ nosi kolor królewskości.

Retirement Fund for ReligiousSupport the aging religious. Our second collection is for the Retirement Fund for Religious. Many senior Catholic
sisters, brothers, and religious order priests served for little or no pay. Today, religious communities often do not have enough savings to meet retirement needs. Your gift helps
provide medications, nursing care, and more for ten of thousands of elderly religious. It also helps ensure younger
members can continue the good works of their elders. Please be generous.Important! - In Case of Emergencies!

“Thank You” A SINCERE THANK YOU
TO THE FAMILY OF ST.TURIBIUSFROM THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The Annual ST. VINCENT DE PAUL THANKSGIVING DISTRIBUTION was, once again, a huge success, due to the efforts of so many people, who we would like to publicly
thank now.
THE ST. TURIBIUS RELIGIOUS EDUCATION STUDENTS,I can't say enough about this amazing group of young men and women. They never
cease to amaze me with their willingness to work and their cheerful attitude and gracious demeanor in helping our clients throughout the evening. They did most of the heavy lifting that needed to be done. In addition to carrying hundreds of pounds of food from the Convent and Rectory to the Church basement, and setting it up for distribution, they also assisted our clients in filling their shopping bags and carrying the food outside to their cars. Then, when the evening was over, they carried the food not taken by the clients back to the Rectory, and they stayed to clean up the hall. These young people were never without a smile on their faces and a kind word for the clients. We are truly blessed to have such fine young men and women in our parish community. They are
a credit to their parents and their Religious Education instructors. Thank you Religious Education Students for your kind and loving hearts and your hard working hands.
YOU ARE THE BEST.
A special Thank You from all of us to four Felician Sisters from the Motherhouse on Peterson Avenue, who graciously volunteered to come and help us out with this
Thanksgiving Distribution. A great big Thank You to Sister Bernetta, Sister Carolita, Sister Ellen and Sister Margaret for spending an evening with us, distributing food, kindness and love to all of our clients. We all enjoyed getting to know you, and we
really needed your help. The Felician Sisters have always been here for us at St. Turibius, and once again, you came through for us in a most generous and loving
way. We couldn't have done it without you. FELICIAN SISTERS ROCK!
We also have a huge debt of gratitude to you, the FAMILY OF ST. TURIBIUS, for your consistent help with donations of food and monetary gifts, which enable us to purchase much needed items, such as Turkeys, for this Distribution. You are the main support of
our organization, and your generosity has always been something that we can depend on.
In closing, we would like to thank everyone who helped make this evening a huge success. The Thanksgiving Distribution is a vital part of our Mission to serve, and it is also a complex evening involving a great deal of grocery shopping and physical labor,
which we could never accomplish without everyone's help. Our favorite method of thanking you is to say.......
"God Bless ALL of you and, once again, we couldn't have done it without your help"

Parish Mission Statement
We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in
us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out
Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God
by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal
call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent
and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we
believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,
forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with
us, know we are Christians by our love!
