WELCOME to the 2019 North vs South Challenge

Welcome everyone, to the North verses South Challenge. A chance to showcase players from all regions throughout the state.

From a small idea some 24 months or more ago we see this Challenge come to fruition for the second year, with the BQ Board endorsing the idea, driven forward by the North Queensland Districts and put together by our CEO and staff.

BQ wishes to thank Exodas, Thuringowa City Bowls Club and the North Queensland Ladies and Men’s Districts for supporting the North vs South.

Suburban Bowling Club members and staff, it is appreciated the time and effort put into hosting this the first Challenge.

Bowls Queensland acknowledges the contribution made by the Qld State Government to the sport.

On behalf of the Suburban Bowling Club I wish to extend a very warm welcome to the representatives from Bowls Queensland, visiting team officials and all visiting bowlers representing the Southern Region and those from the Northern Region.

I offer my congratulations to the Ladies and Men who have been selected to take part in this event. All players will no doubt be looking forward to a week-end of competitive bowls that will be complemented by goodwill and friendship both on and off the green.

I have no doubt that this North vs South Challenge will arouse a great deal of interest generally throughout the local bowling community and will support the concept in their attendance over the two days of play.

In closing I wish to thank everyone who gave of their time in preparation for this Challenge and to all the visitors from out of town I wish you a pleasant stay in our tropical city.

Conditions of PlayMen and Women1. Twelve players per side

2. Games to be played to the current Laws of the Sport of Bowls

3. Two trial ends may be permitted prior to each game commencing, time permitting

4. Games shall be twenty-one (21) ends per match

5. Three tests to be played

6. The Side with the combined highest aggregate score for the three Rinks will be the winner of each Test

7. If equal on aggregate shots, the Test will be declared a draw

8. The Side with the most Test wins will be declared the winner of the series

9. In the event of a drawn series the current holder of the shield will be declared the winner
