Welcome to week nine at Seaham Public School. It was great to see some rain but now our students are keen to see some sun and get back outside during our break times. Today was an exciting day at Seaham with a visit from Giants netball star, Sam Poolman. Sam worked with our netball girls and was here as part of the Premier’s sporting challenge promotion. Look out next week for photos of this special event. Healthy food and Canteen - At school we encourage healthy eating and are supported by our canteen who follow departmental guidelines in the foods they offer. We have noticed an increase in lollies, chocolates and chewing gum that are being purchased outside school and being brought into school. Please discuss this with your child, particularly if they walk to school or you have noticed wrappers in their bag. Community PBL launch - This Friday Community PBL will be hosting a launch at Boomerang Park, Raymond Terrace from 3:30pm until 5pm. The launch involves fun lessons in the skate park and on buses. There will be prizes to win and guest speakers. Seaham students are most welcome but need to be accompanied by an adult. The aim of the launch is to share and reinforce appropriate behaviour at skate parks and on our buses. Community PBL - This week’s community PBL winner is Sienna Winter. Sienna organises activities for younger students and includes those that look sad or lonely.

These include peanut butter, nutella, sesame seeds, loose nuts, muesli, nut or chocolate bars or any products containing any type of nuts. We appreciate your support in this matter.

GONE FISHING!
Dad and I love to go fishing!
A few months ago we were out chasing tuna around “Little Island”, just off Port Stephens, when I hooked a 9kg tuna on a 3kg line. I fought that fish for almost 3 hours and finally had it at the back of the boat, when a shark came up and bit off it’s tail, disqualifying it. That’s when I found out it would have been a “Junior Australian Record”. How amazing!
We set out again the next weekend to get that record fish and luckily that time I did! Not as big, but still a record and this one even got to keep it’s tail.
