RACING 1-2-3

KEY TO SYMBOLS

Top Rated: The horse with the best chance based solely on past form, specially tailored to a 0-100 scale.

Horses For Courses: A suitable track for the horse, compared to its lifetime record on similar courses as defined by Timeform’s course data.

Jockey Uplift: The engaged rider has a notably higher Timeform Jockey Ranking than those who’ve ridden the horse on its most recent starts

Trainer Form: A hot trainer to follow, based on Timeform ratings-related measurements looking at the recent performance of runners.

Going: Sprint course: Good to Soft, Round course: Good (Good to Soft in places)

Right handed, oval-shaped course thirteen furlongs in length with a straight of half a mile. Although a galloping course with a gradual climb from the home turn, jockeys often save something for the finish and it’s a course where it pays to be not too far back on the turn for home. On soft ground the jockeys often tack across to the stand side in the straight. The five-furlong track runs across the main circuit and rises steadily throughout.

Draw: Against Low Pace Information: Even

1 1 HURRICANE IVOR (IRE) (42) (D) 977/17541d5-0 4 9-12 | 62.6kg

William Haggas Tom Marquand Dual winner in France for Fabrice Chappet and may have needed the run when last of 12 in handicap on return/debut for new yard at York (5f, soft). Eased 4 lb since and not one to write off just yet.

2 6 LIHOU (7) (D) 9832224443 5 9-6 | 59.9kg David Evans Pierre-Louis Jamin (5lb/2kg) Has held his form very well this year, making the frame all 8 starts since scoring at Wolverhampton (5f) in January. Should give another good account, but all 5 career wins have come on sharp tracks.

3 9 MOKAATIL (28) (D) v+t 1001-1493481 6 9-6 | 59.9kg

Ian Williams David Egan Returned to form in no uncertain terms when landing the 16-runner “Dash” with blinkers refitted at Epsom (5f, good to soft). 6 lb rise fair and claims if responding well to change of headgear here.

4 8 SPOOF (7) (CD) 991117-6621 6 9-5 | 59.4kg Charles Hills James Doyle Has gradually returned to form this season, back on the scoresheet at Chester (5f, soft) last weekend. Up just 2 lb and this dual C&D winner has to enter calculations, despite the wide draw.

5 7 BOSSIPOP (7) (D) b 9925-023134 8 9-5 | 59.4kg

Tim Easterby Rob Hornby Back to winning ways at Pontefract (5f, soft) in May and has performed with credit at Ripon and Chester since. Should make his presence felt once more, though he’s yet to win off a mark this high.

6 5 FIREPOWER (FR) (268) (D) h 911606/69- 4 9-3 | 58.5kg

William Muir & Chris Grassick Martin Dwyer Looked promising when making a winning debut at 2 yrs, but he hasn’t made much of an impact since and probably best watched starting out for new yard on the back of an 8-month absence.

7 4 POP DANCER (IRE) (106) (CD) 9861340-255 4 9-2 | 58.1kg Tony Carroll Jason Watson Successful twice last year, including over this C&D, and good start to 2021 when going close at Lingfield in January. Poor effort when last seen in March, though, and others make more appeal.

8 3 SAAHEQ (21) (CD) b 9812312581 7 9-1 | 57.6kg Amanda Perrett Sean Levey Failed to get his head in front in 2020, but has already won 3 times this year, the latest a cosy C&D success 3 weeks ago. Raised just 3 lb and well-drawn, so another bold show is anticipated.

9 10 PETTOCHSIDE (10) (D) 9871-101707 12 8-12 | 56.2kg John Bridger Saffie Osborne (5lb/2kg) Ended last season on a winning note and successful on 2 of his 3 starts this year. However, form has dipped of late and stall 10 is hardly helpful.

10 2 PHOENIX STAR (IRE) (21) (D) s 982-2429124 5 8-9 | 54.9kg Jessica Macey Oliver Stammers (5lb/2kg) Back on the scoresheet at Newcastle in April and his 2 subsequent efforts have been solid, too, beaten just a length when fourth to Saaheq over C&D last time. Solid each-way chance.

10 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:9-2 Mokaatil, 9-2 Saaheq, 5-1 Spoof, 7-1 Lihou, 15-2 Phoenix Star, 10-1 Bossipop, 14-1 Hurricane Ivor, 18-1 Pop Dancer, 28-1 Pettochside, 40-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:SAAHEQ bounced back to form to win a C&D handicap in cosy fashion 3 weeks ago, always travelling strongly before being produced to lead in the final 50 yards. He had Phoenix Star in behind on that occasion and a 3 lb rise underestimates the authority of that win, so he is taken to follow up from a good draw. Mokaatil has to be feared following his win in the “Dash”, while Spoof is also respected.

RACE 1

Going: Sprint course: Good to Soft, Round course: Good (Good to Soft in places)

Right handed, oval-shaped course thirteen furlongs in length with a straight of half a mile. Although a galloping course with a gradual climb from the home turn, jockeys often save something for the finish and it’s a course where it pays to be not too far back on the turn for home. On soft ground the jockeys often tack across to the stand side in the straight. The five-furlong track runs across the main circuit and rises steadily throughout.

Draw: Against Low Pace Information: Weak

1 5 LAZULI (IRE) (63) (CD) 998/21541-31 4 9-6 | 59.9kg

Charlie Appleby James Doyle Very smart gelding who landed Newbury Grp 3 final start last season. Defied penalty in Palace House at Newmarket 9 weeks ago. Only fifth in this last year but is a C&D winner. Has 3 lb penalty.

2 10 AINSDALE (7) (D) s 931/441-8326 4 9-3 | 58.5kg

K. R. Burke Clifford Lee Smart colt. Good neck second in Temple Stakes at Haydock (5f, heavy) but that was a substandard renewal and similar form when only sixth in Group 3 at Newcastle last week. Bit to find.

3 7 ARECIBO (FR) (18) (D) 992477-1612 6 9-3 | 58.5kg Robert Cowell Jamie Spencer Has been transformed from frustrating high-end handicapper to Group-1 placed (runner-up in King’s Stand at Royal Ascot) in just 4 starts for new connections and obvious claims back down in class.

4 9 CAME FROM THE DARK (IRE) (63) (D) 10002107-312 5 9-3 | 58.5kg

Ed Walker Tom Marquand Did well last season and further improvement this spring, winning at Newbury and unlucky not to beat Lazuli when upped to this grade at Newmarket. Shortlist material.

5 2 COUNT D’ORSAY (IRE) (8) (D) 9252-020737 5 9-3 | 58.5kg

Tim Easterby Rob Hornby Often not seen to best effect and needs things to drop right but has plenty of ability and probably not out of place in this company.

6 6 ROCKET ACTION (81) (D, BF) v+t 891/87284-57 5 9-3 | 58.5kg Robert Cowell David Egan Useful gelding but yet to win on turf and this looks too tough for him. Headgear on.

7 3 STONE OF DESTINY (18) (D) 940210-9238 6 9-3 | 58.5kg Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy Won Portland at Doncaster last season and posted another fine effort in a big handicap when third in Epsom Dash. Creditable eighth in King’s Stand at Royal Ascot since and not without a chance.

8 1 KEEP BUSY (IRE) (11) (D) 9812325-551 4 9-0 | 57.2kg John Quinn Ryan Moore Best effort last year when finishing second in Group 1 at the Curragh. Better for return when fine fifth in King’s Stand at Royal Ascot before landing odds in listed race at Ayr recently. Respected.

9 4 ATALIS BAY (21) (CD) 9211196-121 3 8-12 | 56.2kg Marco Botti Andrea Atzeni Progressive sprinter who readily made all in 9-runner listed race at this C&D (good, 6/4) 21 days ago but bit more required up in grade and taking on his elders.

10 8 HAPPY ROMANCE (IRE) (15) (CD) 921114-0150 3 8-9 | 54.9kg Richard Hannon Sean Levey Useful juvenile who picked up some nice prizes before a creditable fourth in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket. Mixed results so far this season, however, and drops back to 5f now.

10 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:7-2 Arecibo, 9-2 Came From The Dark, 5-1 Lazuli, 6-1 Keep Busy, 9-1 Atalis Bay, 14-1 Stone of Destiny, 16-1 Ainsdale, 22-1 Count D’orsay, 33-1 Happy Romance, 50-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:CAME FROM THE DARK was unlucky not to reel in Lazuli in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket 9 weeks ago and Ed Walker’s progressive 5-y-o is taken to make amends. Lazuli is an obvious threat again, while Arecibo and Keep Busy have both finished second in a Group 1, the former in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

RACE 2

Going: Sprint course: Good to Soft, Round course: Good (Good to Soft in places)

Right handed, oval-shaped course thirteen furlongs in length with a straight of half a mile. Although a galloping course with a gradual climb from the home turn, jockeys often save something for the finish and it’s a course where it pays to be not too far back on the turn for home. On soft ground the jockeys often tack across to the stand side in the straight. The five-furlong track runs across the main circuit and rises steadily throughout.

Draw: Against High Pace Information: Even

1 4 MONTATHAM (98) (CD, BF) 994/121120-3 5 9-10 | 61.7kg

William Haggas Adam Farragher (5lb/2kg) Progressed into a really smart performer last term, including a win in this. Made a sound reappearance when third to Top Rank in 1m Doncaster listed in March. Back from break with yard in top form.

2 5 ACCIDENTAL AGENT (18) (D) s 9733/5450-47 7 9-7 | 60.3kg Eve Johnson Houghton Charles Bishop Queen Anne winner in 2018. Showed he’s still capable of smart form when fourth in 1m Newbury handicap on reappearance and not disgraced when seventh in this year’s Queen Anne since.

3 6 BEDOUIN’S STORY (16) (D) v 965126/1520 6 9-6 | 59.9kg Saeed bin Suroor Pat Cosgrave Isn’t the easiest of rides but found won big-field Meydan handicap in January. Cracking second in Group 3 there next time but never in it after slow start when down field in Buckingham Palace latest.

4 13 MARIE’S DIAMOND (IRE) (28) (D) 9776843-286 5 9-6 | 59.9kg Mark Johnston Andrea Atzeni Established as a smart performer, running up to best when second in Group 3 Earl of Sefton at Newmarket on reappearance. Couple of lesser efforts since ahead of this first ever start in a handicap.

5 9 BEAT LE BON (FR) (17) (D) 9854485325 5 9-5 | 59.4kg Richard Hannon Sean Levey Smart 7f/1m performer who hasn’t won for a while but arrives in form, keeping on from well back to finish fifth in Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot 17 days ago. Could play a part.

6 10 ESCOBAR (IRE) (17) (D) t 9900933650 7 9-4 | 59.0kg David O’Meara Adam Kirby Very useful has gone 16 runs since last win in 2019. Not seen to best effort in Hunt Cup at Ascot last time so probably still in form.

7 1 ORBAAN (9) (D) t 98147740-55 6 9-2 | 58.1kg David O’Meara Jamie Spencer Respectable fifth of 18 in Lincoln on reappearance and not disgraced in a race which didn’t fall his away on Newcastle’s AW last week. Well capable off this mark.

8 14 MAYDANNY (IRE) (17) (D) 98175106-20 5 9-1 | 57.6kg Mark Johnston Dane O’Neill Back on the up in no uncertain terms when making all in 1¼m Glorious Goodwood handicap last July. Good reappearance second at Newmarket (9f) but he’s disappointed in the Hunt Cup since. Drawn wide.

9 11 MAGICAL MORNING (17) (D) 1006/11592-8 4 9-0 | 57.2kg

John & Thady Gosden Frankie Dettori Progressed into a smart performer at 3. Travelled well for a long way when eighth of 30 in Hunt Cup on reappearance and could be shaper with that outing behind him. Big player for top connections.

10 12 TRAIS FLUORS (17) (CD) 9785-707410 7 8-12 | 56.2kg

Mick Channon Oisin Murphy Snapped a losing run when stepping up on his previous efforts for this yard to win over C&D (good) last month. Not seen to best effect in Hunt Cup since and it would be no surprise to see him go well.

11 2 ACQUITTED (IRE) (17) (D, BF) b+t 9841/209-292 4 8-11 | 55.8kg

Hugo Palmer James Doyle Back on track with fine second in Spring Mile at Doncaster in March. Disappointed in Victoria Cup next time but better when runner-up on AW in first-time blinkers/tongue tie pairing last month.

12 15 FANTASY BELIEVER (IRE) (17) (D) 98155-12970 4 8-6 | 53.5kg Charles Hills John Egan All 3 wins over 1m on Kempton’s polytrack. Windsor second in May shows he’s just as effective on the grass but he’s failed to reproduce that 3 times since. 15 stall makes life even trickier.

13 8 PLANTADREAM (29) (D) 97125224-03 6 8-5 | 53.1kg John Best Martin Dwyer Successful 3 times at 1m last year and competitive from higher marks in defeat on turf/AW thereafter. All the better for his reappearance when creditable third at Epsom (8.5f, soft) 29 days ago.

14 3 PYTHAGORAS (IRE) (14) (D) 9821131-468 3 8-5 | 53.1kg

Richard Fahey Paddy Mathers Three wins in productive 2-y-o campaign, including 1m Pontefract listed. Respectable efforts in defeat over 1¼m this term. Faded into eighth in Royal Ascot handicap on latest and now drops back to 1m.

15 7 RANSOM (37) 971-143 4 8-3 | 52.2kg

Sir Michael Stoute David Egan Looked good prospect when winning first 2 starts (both 7f AW). Beaten in 2 handicaps since but his first experience of turf when third in Whitsun Cup over C&D last time should aid his development.

15 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:7-1 Magical Morning, 7-1 Montatham, 17-2 Acquitted, 9-1 Ransom, 12-1 Pythagoras, 12-1 Trais Fluors, 14-1 Maydanny, 16-1 Plantadream, 16-1 Bedouin’s Story, 18-1 Beat Le Bon, 18-1 Orbaan, 20-1 Marie’s Diamond, 22-1 Escobar, 28-1 Accidental Agent, 33-1 Fantasy Believer

TIMEFORM VIEW:MAGICAL MORNING shaped as if he possibly just needed the run after moving well for a long way in the Hunt Cup on his reappearance and is worth another chance to show he still has good prize in him off this mark. Last year’s winner Montatham, the lightly-raced Ransom and this season’s C&D scorer Trais Fluors head the dangers.

Draw: Against High Pace Information: Strong

1 10 AUNTY BRIDY (IRE) (76) 91162-0 3 9-0 | 57.2kg

William Haggas Adam Farragher Maiden winner who signed off for Jim Bolger with an excellent second in a Group 3 at the Curragh. Picked up for 410,000gns but shaped as if amiss when well held in Fred Darling at Newbury on yard bow.

2 9 AURIA (23) (D) 9331-24 3 9-0 | 57.2kg Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy AW novice winner on second start in November and improved on that form when a keeping-on second at Ascot in April (1m). Creditable fourth in Newbury listed race since and solid each-way contender.

3 3 GLESGA GAL (IRE) (15) b 9624291-10 3 9-0 | 57.2kg

Hugo Palmer James Doyle Much improved since the blinkers went on, easily landing 7f handicap at Wolverhampton in May. Travelled better than most until folding from 2f out at Royal Ascot and remains with potential.

4 8 KESTENNA (15) (D) 92211250 3 9-0 | 57.2kg

John & Thady Gosden Frankie Dettori Dual AW novice winner who seemed unsuited by conditions when well held in Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot (1m, soft) 15 days ago.

5 6 LUCID DREAMER (76) 9211-0 3 9-0 | 57.2kg

Roger Charlton David Egan Dual 7f winner as juvenile but off since beating only one in Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury (7f, good) 76 days ago. Still early days and not written off.

6 2 READY TO VENTURE (43) (BF) 9221-36 3 9-0 | 57.2kg

William Haggas Tom Marquand Fairly useful 7f winner but failed to confirm previous form when only sixth of 8 in listed race at Goodwood (9.9f, soft) 43 days ago. Back down in trip and it remains early days.

7 7 ROSEMARY AND THYME (10) t 8365-571234 3 9-0 | 57.2kg

Hughie Morrison Rob Hornby Consistent sort but is surely flying too high in this company.

8 11 SEATTLE ROCK (23) (D) 9033633-701 3 9-0 | 57.2kg Sylvester Kirk Dane O’Neill Capitalised on a significant drop in grade to get off the mark in 1m novice at Newbury 23 days ago, despite flashing tail close home. Each-way claims back up in grade.

9 4 SENITA (52) (D) 83221-76 3 9-0 | 57.2kg

John & Thady Gosden Andrea Atzeni Frankel filly who finished runner-up first 2 starts before making most of good opportunity in 1m Redcar novice in October. Disappointing reappearance and fared no better in Musidora at York last time.

10 1 SHINE FOR YOU (8) 93213-46 3 9-0 | 57.2kg Richard Hannon Sean Levey Lightly-raced winner who has run about as well as could be expected in the face of stiff tasks the last twice. Back down in trip.

11 5 STATEMENT (IRE) (28) (BF) 100221-283 3 9-0 | 57.2kg Martyn Meade Ryan Moore Newbury maiden winner last autumn and improved a good deal when just failing in Fred Darling there on reappearance. Not so good both starts since but still sets the standard dropping in grade.

11 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:5-2 Statement, 8-1 Aunty Bridy, 17-2 Auria, 9-1 Ready To Venture, 10-1 Glesga Gal, 11-1 Shine For You, 12-1 Lucid Dreamer, 14-1 Kestenna, 14-1 Seattle Rock, 22-1 Senita, 50-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:Things haven’t quite gone to plan for STATEMENT following a promising reappearance in the Fred Darling at Newbury, but this represents a sizeable drop in grade and she’s fancied to take advantage. Glesga Gal shaped as if still in good form at Royal Ascot and remains with potential, while Auria is a solid each-way contender.

1 4 ADDEYBB (IRE) (77) (C, D) s 982/11211-21 7 9-7 | 60.3kg

William Haggas Tom Marquand High-class gelding who arrives on back of Group 1 win at Randwick (1m2f) in April. Blinkers worn there are replaced by usual cheekpieces and he’s firmly in the picture with ground conditions to suit.

2 3 MISHRIFF (IRE) (98) (D) 1001/21118-11 4 9-7 | 60.3kg

John & Thady Gosden David Egan Has resumed better than ever this spring and he made it 2-2 in Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan (12f). Equally as effective at this shorter trip, and this top-class colt looks the one to beat.

3 2 EL DRAMA (IRE) (27) (D) 871-3310 3 8-11 | 55.8kg Roger Varian Andrea Atzeni Very useful colt who landed Chester’s Dee Stakes in May but well held in Prix du Jockey Club behind St Mark’s Basilica at Chantilly last time. Has plenty on his plate here.

4 1 ST MARK’S BASILICA (FR) (27) (D) 9625131-11 3 8-11 | 55.8kg

Aidan O’Brien, Ireland Ryan Moore Has made into a high-class colt in 2021 and impressive scorer of Poule d’Essai des Poulains at Longchamp and Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly, showing a really good turn of foot each time. Player.

4 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:13-8 Mishriff, 7-4 St Mark’s Basilica, 3-1 Addeybb, 40-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:Only four runners but still a fascinating Eclipse. MISHRIFF showed himself to be a top-class colt when scoring cosily in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic in March and he can cement his placing among Europe’s best middle-distance performers by ending the winning run of Aidan O’Brien’s Prix du Jockey Club hero St Mark’s Basilica. Addeybb shouldn’t be underestimated and he can also have a say.

RACE 5

Going: Sprint course: Good to Soft, Round course: Good (Good to Soft in places)

Right handed, oval-shaped course thirteen furlongs in length with a straight of half a mile. Although a galloping course with a gradual climb from the home turn, jockeys often save something for the finish and it’s a course where it pays to be not too far back on the turn for home. On soft ground the jockeys often tack across to the stand side in the straight. The five-furlong track runs across the main circuit and rises steadily throughout.

Draw: Favours High Pace Information: Even

1 3 BREATH CAUGHT (252) 953777/4216- 6 10-0 | 63.5kg Ralph Beckett Rob Hornby Snapped a 2-year losing run when seeing off 6 rivals at Newmarket (9f) in September. Testing ground probably found him out at Newbury (10f) final start and worth noting he’s gone well fresh previously

2 4 RHYTHMIC INTENT (IRE) (52) (D) 95414472-60 5 9-11 | 62.1kg Stuart Williams Sean Levey Scored at York and Newbury last term and signed off with good second of 23 in November Handicap at Doncaster (1m4f). Not disgraced on AW return and clearly not 100% at York latest. Type to bounce back

3 6 RESTORER (8) (D) b 9517281-532 9 9-11 | 62.1kg

Ian Williams Oliver Stammers (5lb/2kg) Signed off last term with a narrow success off this mark at Chester (10.3f) and better for opening pair of efforts this term when second at Newmarket (10f) 8 days ago. This does look deeper, though.

4 5 PIVOINE (IRE) (24) (CD) v 10034078-741 7 9-10 | 61.7kg

Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy 2019 John Smith’s Cup winner who, having fallen plenty in the weights, duly capitalised to score at Haydock (10f) last month, holding subsequent winner Chichester by 1 length. Can go well again.

5 10 MAN OF THE NIGHT (FR) (28) (D) b 9842-806531 4 9-8 | 60.8kg Richard Hannon Ryan Moore Had gone winless since Newbury debut success in 2019 yet, equipped with first-time blinkers, he gained race in stewards’ room at Doncaster 4 weeks ago having been bumped late on. May build on that now

6 2 CLASSICAL WAVE (68) (D, BF) 99307-1121d 4 9-7 | 60.3kg Roger Varian David Egan Low-mileage 4-y-o who proved upwardly mobile for Peter Charalambous this spring, winning twice on AW prior to losing race in stewards’ room at Windsor (10f) in April. Likely more to come for new yard.

7 7 DREAM WITH ME (IRE) (29) (D) 96452-13117 4 9-6 | 59.9kg

Mark Johnston Frankie Dettori Has returned an improved model in 2021, readily gaining third victory in 1m2f Ayr handicap in May. Arguably did too much too soon at Epsom (10f) 4 weeks ago and no surprise to see him bounce back.

8 1 MAKRAM (IRE) (33) (BF) 9821818-522 4 9-6 | 59.9kg

Roger Charlton James Doyle Useful sort who scored twice as a 3-y-o and improved again in defeat this term, finding only one too good in Zetland Gold Cup (10f) on latest start. Up further 2 lb but he’s one for the shortlist.

9 8 LUIGI VAMPA (FR) (33) t 965U475-105 4 9-5 | 59.4kg

David Menuisier Jason Watson Applied himself well under a positive ride to double career tally at Windsor (11.5f) in April. Dispelled a lesser effort at York when midfield at first named venue since but others make more appeal.

10 11 WATER’S EDGE (IRE) (5) (D) s 96114-05345 5 9-0 | 57.2kg

George Baker Pat Cosgrave Built up an impressive record at Windsor, scoring 3 times at 10f. Running with credit in recent weeks, close-up fifth in 7-runner handicap back there latest. However, this is a tougher assignment

11 9 SWORD BEACH (IRE) (6) b 97338-37623 4 8-9(8-8) | 54.9kg (54.4kg) Eve Johnson Houghton Charles Bishop Landed a York novice event during a busy 2-y-o campaign back in 2019. Winless since but plenty of good efforts to his name, placed in handicaps here/Windsor of late. Mark has crept back up, though.

BETTING FORECAST:4-1 Makram, 11-2 Pivoine, 11-2 Classical Wave, 13-2 Man of The Night, 11-1 Dream With Me, 12-1 Breath Caught, 14-1 Rhythmic Intent, 16-1 Sword Beach, 16-1 Restorer, 22-1 Water’s Edge, 22-1 Luigi Vampa

TIMEFORM VIEW:A good quality handicap with several holding claims including MAKRAM. He’s shaped with plenty of promise so far this term, finding only one too good in the Zetland Gold Cup on his latest start in May. There may well be more to come and he can go well under James Doyle. Pivoine defeated subsequent Carlisle Bell winner Chichester at Haydock in June and along with Classical Wave heads the dangers.

Draw: N/A Pace Information: Even

1 3 RUN TO FREEDOM (21) (D) 100021-2 3 9-10 | 61.7kg

Henry Candy Oisin Murphy Progressive sort who got the better of Highland Avenue in 7f Kempton novice in December. Headed late when second over C&D on handicap/seasonal debut and remains with potential. Strong claims.

2 2 THIRD KINGDOM (49) (D, BF) 93331-5 3 9-7 | 60.3kg

John & Thady Gosden David Egan Off the mark with a minimum of fuss on third in maiden at Newcastle on final outing last season. Shaped as if he’d strip fitter for his reappearance, so remains with plenty of potential.

3 4 IL BANDITO (IRE) (23) (D, BF) 967221-312 3 9-3 | 58.5kg Charles Hills Ryan Moore Opened account in good style in 7f Newcastle maiden last autumn and resumed winning ways in handicap over slightly at Haydock in May. Good effort there last time but needs more improvement.

4 9 BOWMAN (IRE) (42) (D) 9918400-160 3 9-2 | 58.1kg Mark Johnston Frankie Dettori Landed a handicap at Lingfield on reappearance that’s working out very well and, while below form both subsequent starts, he had an excuse on latest. Not totally ruled out.

5 5 FANTASY MASTER (15) 988114-2043 3 8-13 | 56.7kg Michael Appleby Rob Hornby Back on track under this rider on last 2 starts, particularly his third of 19 in Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot (looked unlucky). Longer trip is a concern. Engaged 7.08 Haydock Friday.

6 1 FARASI LANE (IRE) (14) (D) s 9666331-252 3 8-13 | 56.7kg Tom Ward Tom Marquand AW winner last November and holding form so far this term, albeit without looking particularly well treated. Cheekpieces back on but he’s vulnerable to less-exposed rivals.

7 6 ONARAGGATIP (9) s 952144-8404 3 8-6 | 53.5kg Rod Millman Kieran O’Neill Back on his game at Leicester 9 days ago but he’s a tricky sort who often starts slowly, so most of the others make more appeal.

8 8 NORTH OF AMAZING (17) 93082-345 3 8-6 | 53.5kg

K. R. Burke Jane Elliott Lightly-raced maiden who has been a bit underwhelming so far this term. Temperament under suspicion so doesn’t make much appeal in a race like this.

9 7 TYPICAL MAN (11) (D, BF) s+h 976357-5152 3 8-5 | 53.1kg

Ian Williams Andrea Atzeni Winner at Doncaster in May and proved he can get competitive from reassessed mark when second at Newbury 11 days ago. Could do better still with hood/cheekpieces applied.

9 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:7-2 Run To Freedom, 9-2 Fantasy Master, 6-1 Typical Man, 13-2 Il Bandito, 13-2 Third Kingdom, 9-1 Farasi Lane, 18-1 Bowman, 20-1 North of Amazing, 25-1 Onaraggatip

TIMEFORM VIEW:RUN TO FREEDOM shaped well on his handicap debut after six months off over course and distance last month where he was a little keen in the early stages and probably got to the front too soon. He was headed only close home but left the impression he is on a fair mark, so is well worth supporting following a 3 lb rise. Fantasy Master, who caught the eye last time, and Il Bandito are feared most.

Draw: Favours High Pace Information: Very Strong

1 16 AVETA (FR) (35) (BF) 926-13 3 9-9 | 61.2kg Ralph Beckett Rob Hornby Much improved from 2-y-o debut when ploughing through the mud to land extended 1m Windsor fillies’ maiden but wasn’t in the same form on quicker ground at Chester next time. Others are more appealing.

2 4 REMEDIUM (35) 965-223 3 9-8 | 60.8kg Richard Hannon Sean Levey Promise sole 2-y-o start and matched his Nottingham reappearance when third of 11 on handicap debut at Chester (10.3f) 35 days ago, again looking a little hesitant under pressure. More needed.

3 11 WINK OF AN EYE (15) (D) 100884-2311 3 9-7 | 60.3kg

William Haggas Tom Marquand Firmly on the up and overcame difficulties to score at Newmarket last time. Strong pace will suit, and he’s clearly the one to beat bidding for a hat-trick.

4 10 URBAN WAR (IRE) (21) v 9631165-402 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Amy Murphy George Wood Good efforts to hit the frame on two of three starts this year but he’s vulnerable to less exposed rivals.

5 7 HELM ROCK (37) t 970-3511 3 9-7 | 60.3kg

Daniel & Claire Kubler James Doyle Marked improvement since switched to handicaps, readily scoring twice at Carlisle. Something to spare again last time and longer trip looks sure to suit, so he’s a player.

6 13 FOREVER FORWARD (IRE) (22) 97283-9423 3 9-6 | 59.9kg Clive Cox Adam Kirby Fairly useful colt who has run with credit the last twice but doesn’t appear to have a great deal in hand of his present mark.

7 1 SOMETHING ENTICING (IRE) (15) (D) s 9653-61123 3 9-6 | 59.9kg David Elsworth David Egan Won first 2 starts in handicaps and has shaped as if still in good form when placed both subsequent starts, third to Wink of An Eye at Newmarket 15 days ago. Unlikely to turn the tables.

8 2 PURE BUBBLES (GER) (15) 9468-434 3 9-6 | 59.9kg

Gary Moore Ryan Moore Lightly-raced sort who has shaped as if there’s a bigger effort in him on several occasions. Not discredited when fourth to Wink of An Eye on handicap debut at Newmarket and fitness is now assured.

9 12 CURRENCY EXCHANGE (IRE) (50) s 954165-4235 3 9-5 | 59.4kg James Ferguson Oisin Murphy 9/1, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at York (11.8f, good) 38 days ago, met some trouble. Consistent sort but much more exposed than the bulk of his rivals.

10 5 AGGAGIO (FR) (24) h 952-51715 3 9-5 | 59.4kg Sophie Leech Trevor Whelan Dual winner for Jean-Claude Rouget in France, but put in his place on debut for new connections at Haydock last month. Hooded for the first time, but hard to fancy.

11 15 BALEARIC (IRE) (14) b 9864-4153 3 9-3 | 58.5kg Paul & Oliver Cole Andrea Atzeni Improved for the fitting of blinkers when scoring at Newcastle in March and has run creditably on both subsequent starts, albeit while looking in the handicapper’s grip.

12 14 BIG BOY BOBBY (IRE) (62) 99858-5 3 9-2 | 58.1kg

Roger Charlton Jason Watson Plenty of promise as a juvenile and left the impression he would strip fitter for his reappearance in a handicap at Salisbury a couple of months ago. Stable is going better now.

13 3 BEAUTIFUL CROWN (23) 95895-32254 3 9-0 | 57.2kg Brett Johnson Dane O’Neill Has hit the frame several times this season but he’s vulnerable in a race as competitive as this.

14 8 REWIRED (51) 97512-37 3 8-13 | 56.7kg

David Menuisier Pierre-Louis Jamin (5lb/2kg) Lightly-raced winner who arrives on the back of a lesser effort at Salisbury. Hard to make a case for in a race as competitive as this.

15 6 GLENEAGLET (23) 976632 3 8-13 | 56.7kg Charlie Fellowes Jamie Spencer Lightly-raced filly who improved for a switch to handicaps when second at Nottingham last time. Still looked a bit green under pressure that day, so no surprise if she takes another step forward.

16 17 SARATOGA GOLD (56) (D) 91487416-6 3 8-12 | 56.2kg Charles Hills John Egan Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy, 5/1) 44 days ago. Others make more appeal on this occasion.

17 9 MUSTAZEED (IRE) (24) (D) 9896-831 3 8-11 | 55.8kg

Chris Wall Martin Dwyer Progressive sort who overcame a slow start to score with plenty in hand at Yarmouth 24 days ago. This is clearly more competitive but he’s probably still ahead of the handicapper.

17 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:11-2 Wink of An Eye, 9-1 Mustazeed, 11-1 Helm Rock, 12-1 Big Boy Bobby, 12-1 Gleneaglet, 12-1 Something Enticing, 16-1 Balearic, 16-1 Remedium, 18-1 Forever Forward, 18-1 Pure Bubbles, 18-1 Aveta, 22-1 Urban War, 25-1 Currency Exchange, 28-1 Rewired, 28-1 Saratoga Gold, 50-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:WINK OF AN EYE landed the odds in good style at Haydock last month and overcame unfavourable circumstance to follow up at Newmarket eight days later. He found plenty to lead that day and is almost certainly still ahead of his mark following a 4 lb rise in the weights. Big Boy Bobby seems sure to improve for his reappearance and looks a danger, along with Pure Bubbles under Ryan Moore.
