1 What's new in this release

The following new features have been added. Instructions on how to use each feature are available in the SAP Jam Collaboration documentation located on the SAP Help Portal.

Note

Features for this SAP Jam Collaboration release will be available to customers working with the preview release starting on Friday, February 15, 2019. The release will be available in production starting on Friday, March 8, 2019. All SAP Jam Collaboration documentation including this document is subject to minor daily updates until Friday, March 8, 2019. Further updates may occur after that date on an as-needed basis. Please check the SAP Help Portal for your latest version of this document.

The following are just a few highlights for this release:

Document integrations with custom labels

Company administrators can provide custom integration names for document repositories to help users recognize external document repositories company-wide. They can also allow group administrators to override the default names with labels that are more suitable for their specific group's use. Learn more [page 7].

Knowledge base articles and templates

The company knowledge base landing page has been visually enhanced to display recommended and recent knowledge base articles. Advanced search capability also appears at the top of the page. Learn more [page 10].

Messages with uploaded documents

You can now include documents within messages. Clickable previews of the documents are included in the messages. Learn more [page 15].

Mirrored content

Company, area, and page content administrators can now mirror content between home page repositories. Group administrators can also mirror content from groups to company home pages. Learn more [page 19].

Poll widget

To increase awareness and visibility of a poll, administrators can now add a poll widget to a company, area, or group page that references an existing poll created within the company, area, or group. Learn more [page 24].

Search results

To improve speed and relevancy, when entering quick search criteria in the global search bar, the top results are now organized into categories. Learn more [page 24].

1.1 Accessibility support

As per Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the following enhancements have been made to SAP Jam to help satisfy critical requirements to achieve compliance with section 508. Government and public agencies that require adherence to the guidelines can now ensure that their employees with disabilities have a productive experience with SAP Jam.

Backward navigation ● Pressing Shift + Tab when navigating backwards through content now works as expected.

Buttons ● When navigating group content, the Comments and Show More buttons now display with a visible element to explain their purpose.

● The button tabbing order on group pages moves from left to right as expected.

Calendar ● The tab focus now works as expected when creating a new event and selecting a date using the Enter key.

● The screen reader now correctly reads actions such as Next and Previous when accessing the calendar.

Content rating ● The content rating pop up is now activated when tabbed to via keyboard as expected.

Events ● When you delete an event category (by clicking the Trash icon), focus remains on the category section.

● Selecting and unselecting categories via keyboard now works as expected.● The category dropdown now provides an alternative tool tip to define its purpose.● The time zone label is now read when accessing the time zone combo box.● You can now select a time from the time dropdown using the keyboard.

Feature Description

Rich text editor for forums ● When navigating through edit mode for forum topics, keyboard controls are now able to access menu items such as the bullet list format from the rich text editor as expected.

● When using the rich text editor, how to navigate between toolbar items is read aloud by the screen reader as expected.

Messages ● Keyboard access includes skip navigation (F6 and Shift+F6) to jump ahead to main page sections and hotkey keyboard shortcuts.

● Screen readers can now correctly identify the status (for example: selected, disabled) of a field and the type of field (for example: dropdown menus, radio buttons).

Item count for listed items ● The item count for a list of images is now correctly read by the screen reader.

Links ● Hyperlinks throughout the user interface appears as links rather than text, as expected.

Tasks ● Mutually exclusive or segmented buttons such as Low, Medium, and High priority are now read correctly.

Text color contrast ● Color contrast has been corrected for text that indicates how long ago an item was posted.

1.2 Branding

There are many options available for company administrators to customize the style and support options for their SAP Jam web application.

Feature Description

Font support ● As a company administrator responsible for setting a consistent corporate branding, you can now set a default font, upload a custom font, or choose from up to 30 standard fonts and apply them to group overview tabs, group widget titles, or home page widget titles.

1.3 Custom home page

In the SAP Jam Admin console, under the Product Setup menu, "Custom Home Page" has been renamed to "Home Page Management."

1.4 Document integrations

As a company administrator, you can configure various document integrations with repostories for SAP Jam.

Feature Description

Configurable document integration label for company and groups

● In the SAP Jam In the SAP Jam Admin console under Product Setup

Integrations External Applications , when configuring a document repository, as a company administrator, you have the option to specify a more meaningful label rather than use the default integration name. Group administrators can now override that label when editing the group under group admin settings only if Allow renaming of the external document integration name is selected.

Feature Management , as a company administrator you can select the Allow renaming of the external document integration name to allow group administrators to change the default name for any of their group's external document integrations. If you do not enable this option, the default name will remain consistent throughout the application and cannot be changed by any group admin.

1.5 Forums

Forums are used to group general discussions, questions and answers, and ideas to focus upon. With full collaboration permissions, group members can ask new questions, add ideas and start discussions in a forum topic.

Rich text editor ● The height of the entry text box for the rich text editor has been reduced so that the action buttons that appear below the editor are more readily visible.

1.6 Group templates

Group templates contain professionally-designed overview pages as well as placeholder content to help you get started with a structure for your newly created group. You can select a template to help you get started, saving time in designing a layout. After you select the template, you can still edit, add, and delete widgets on the layout as you would if you had designed the layout without a template.

1.7 Knowledge base

Service agents and managers can use knowledge base articles to find the right information required by a customer at the right time, reducing call handle time, improving operational efficiencies, increasing customer engagement, and reducing labor costs.

Knowledge base articles and templates

Feature Description

Company knowledge base landing page

● When visiting the knowledge base landing page for a company, you will now see a new Search bar with advanced search capabilities and lists of recommended and recently updated articles to help you quickly access relevant information. Each tile includes the name of the article, the group the article was authored in, the name of the knowledge base author or who last updated it, when it was last updated, number of likes and views, a content rating, and any categories it may be assigned to.

browse through all articles.● As you enter search criteria in the Search bar, auto complete suggestions will appear in

a dropdown list.● You can expand the Advanced search area to search for knowledge base articles by au

thor name, group name, hashtag, selected category, or time frame.

categories to help refine your search. Selected categories will display below the Filter button.

Category filters for groups ● When filtering by categories in a group's Knowledge Base page, only the categories applied to the group's articles will display in the filter.

● When articles are created, the entire list of categories are available to assign to that article, to support new ways of categorization.

Recommended knowledge base articles

● Recommended knowledge base articles display with configured thumbnail images and metadata such as the author name, the name of the group where the article originated, when it was last updated or published, number of likes, number of views, content rating, the names of categories it can be searched by, and a snippet of the knowledge base article.

● Knowledge base articles are recommended based on content you have recently viewed.

Embeddable knowledge base widget

● The embeddable knowledge base widget is a customizable widget that can be embedded in UI5 compatible SAP applications to provide in-context access to relevant knowledge.

● It can support knowledge base articles and other content types such as wiki pages and documents.

● As an administrator, you can customize the widget size, columns, sort options, and labels.

● As a knowledge base template creator, you can now add text, multimedia, and images that are static and cannot be removed or edited by knowledge base article authors.

1.8 Leaderboards with Badgeville gamification

Leaderboards show top achievement levels of company participation by individual members on a ranked list. Based on the success of other users, members can compare each others achievements and find motivation in further participation.

Feature Description

Profile page ● On your member profile page, you can view your achievement level, leaderboard rank (by total number of points), and progress towards rewards (previously referred to as "badges") and mission completion.○ The Rewards section displays progress towards "stand-alone" rewards. These are re

wards that are not defined as part of any mission.○ The Missions section displays progress towards all available missions. A mission can

have multiple rewards.○ Only simple rewards are supported (a reward containing single behavior criterion).

Badgeville integration: Profile page with achievements● On the Achievements section of a profile page, a mission can be filtered to show all its con

tained rewards, those in progress, or those completed.● Users can click on View all Rewards and Missions to view a list of all the rewards they can

earn when they participate and complete actions and view the progress of reward achievement within each mission. The steps required to achieve each goal are also listed.

Hover card ● When you view the hover card for another company user, you can see their achievement level with number of points earned in brackets, and their number of completed missions.



1.9 Messages

Messages for SAP Jam Collaboration provide a quick and convenient way to converse with others within your company or with colleagues who do not have company provisioned emails. New messages appear in real-time and can include your colleagues, up to a maximum of thirty individual participants.

Document uploads and embedded preview

● When entering messages, you can now upload and attach content items such as documents and video files directly from your local drive.

access the options to download and copy the document.

Media and documents ● On the right side panel, from the Media and Documents tab, you can view a list of items at a glance and choose to download, copy, go to the message where the media or document file is attached, or delete the file.

● From the Messages icon on the top navigation menu, you can view a list of unmuted message threads with recent messages from both your personal and group messages.

● As an SAP Jam user, you can share a feed item in a message to your company, your group, or a group message.

● When sharing a feed item as a message with groups, you'll need to enter the name of an existing message thread. The Message Thread type ahead feature can help you refine a list of message thread names.

1.10 Microsoft® Office integration

Users can easily work with Microsoft Office documents in SAP Jam without specific client requirements.

Feature Description

Microsoft Office integration for web application and mobile devices

● For standard web browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Explorer and Edge, Microsoft Office documents now integrate client-free in SAP Jam. In SAP Jam, users can click Open to view or Edit to work with an already uploaded Office document, and then save their changes in their local Office application. The document will automatically update within SAP Jam.

NoteIf the applicable Microsoft Office application is not installed on the local machine, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari browsers will display a pop-up error message while Google Chrome will not display an error. When you try to open or edit in Google Chrome, a tool tip message displays, depending on the action: "Open in external application" or "Edit in external application".

Client-free integration with Microsoft Office● The SAP Jam Application Launcher is no longer required to open these documents.● When you click Open, you can view the document in read-only mode.

Exception ● When you edit a document in iOS using Microsoft Office apps launched from mobile browsers, after moving back and forth between multiple apps, the document may switch to read-only; in this case, save the document locally and upload it later.



1.11 Microsoft® Office 365™ integration

Configuration of the Microsoft® Office 365™ integration can now be completed by a group administrator at the group level only rather than by a company administrator at the company level.

● In the SAP Jam Admin console under Product Setup Features Feature

Management , as a company administrator you can select the Enable repository configuration at the group level for Microsoft Office 365 to allow group administrators to create custom labels for document integrations used by their groups.

● By default, this option is not enabled.

Setup to configure repositories for existing Microsoft Office 365 integrations that have been set up by your company administrator.

1.12 Mirrored content

When you want to post the same document to two or more places, as an administrator, you can choose to "mirror", or make an identical copy of a single source content item.

Mirror between home page repositories

● As a company, area, or page content administrator, you can now mirror content such as documents, images, videos, wiki pages, and blog posts between various home page repositories for company (full access, restricted access, and external) and areas.

NoteBefore you can mirror, you must have permission to mirror the source content item, as well as permission to upload to the target repository you want to mirror to.

● As a group administrator, you can now mirror content from your group to a home page repository. As a company or area administrator, you can also mirror content from your home page repository to a group.

● When managing home page content from the SAP Jam Admin console, you can now click the dropdown beside the content item you want to mirror and choose Mirror.

1.13 Reports

SAP Jam reports display adoption metrics including user contribution and consumption activity. On the SAP Jam Admin console > Analytics > Reports page, select the report you want from the dropdown list. For larger reports, you can leave the page while it completes processing. Once the report is ready to view, you can then upload the csv file to an analytics software and work with the data there. Most reports are available to group administrators for group-specific data.

Questions report ● Group and company administrators can now view a list of all the answered and unanswered questions that exist in a group by a specified date range. 1.14 SAP Jam mobile app

When you have an enterprise-wide deployment of the SAP Jam mobile app, as a mobile app user, you can collaborate with colleagues across your organization at any time. The SAP Jam mobile experience has been enhanced with the following features.

Feature Description

Categorized search results on autocomplete

● When entering quick search criteria in the global search bar, upon autocomplete the top results are now organized into categories (for example: Content, People, Forums), with a maximum of three results per category, up to a maximum of 10 results overall, and the ability to view all results, or all results by category.

● On the SAP Jam mobile menu navigation, in the default order, the placement of Messages is now between Groups and Notifications.

1.15 Search results

Search results can be sorted by relevance and date. Search terms are highlighted in the search results for all content types. An item's original author name, along with any most recent subsequent editor or contributor’s names will appear along with the search result item.

Categorized search results on autocomplete

● To improve speed and relevancy, when entering quick search criteria in the global search bar, the top results are now organized into categories (for example: Content, People, Forums), with a maximum of three results per category, and up to a maximum of 10 results overall. User can click View all (by category) to see the results for a specific category or View all at the bottom of the dropdown to see a list of all the returned results.

Search support for keywords ● Support has been added for keyword searches that include:○ diacritic spelling (for example: Jürgen can now be found by searching Jürgen

and Juergen)○ underscore and hyphen characters○ words split into subwords by intra-word delimiters, case transitions, letter-

number transitions, removal of trailing 's' for each subword, and removal of leading and trailing intra-word delimiters on each subword.

1.16 Widgets

Widgets are containers for a variety of information such as multimedia, slides, content, and more. When you add a widget, you are specifying that a section, whether for group overview pages or custom home pages, contain some particular content. You can insert, remove, edit, and reposition widgets as needed.

Visual display ● In the SAP Jam Admin console under Product Setup Features , as a company administrator you can enable the Enhanced widget styling and page layout option (located below the Set all group navigation style to header option) so that all home page and group overview widgets display with better usage of available screen space and improved carousel and gallery layouts.

Page layout improvements● Content, forum, and knowledge base widgets display with bolded item titles, two line de

scriptions, and attention to item type.● The avatars of the those who made the most recent updates have been removed from the

Content widget.● The avatar of the person who last updated a forum topic is included in the forum widget.

● As a company administrator you can display a pre-configured Badgeville leaderboard widget on the company home page or group overview page.

● You can choose a leaderboard that reflects points based on how you have configured the Badgeville system (All time, Daily, Monthly, or Weekly) time frames.

● You can choose to display up to a maximum of 25 people in the leaderboard based on points, behaviors, or earned rewards.

People widget ● In the People widget for a custom home page or a group overview page, when you select specific members you can now see a list of those you selected while in page design mode.

most recently joined.

Feature Description

Slideshow widget ● In addition to Microsoft PowerPoint files, the slideshow widget now supports the PDF file format. This allows SAP Jam users to quickly navigate (for example: using left and right buttons or specific go-to page) each page of a PDF without drilling into a full detail view.

Tag cloud ● When adding a tag cloud widget to the group or custom home page, you can now apply a new filter that includes up to 200 tags and excludes up to 200 tags.

tag cloud widget's display of tags based on a specific selection of up to 200 tags.

2 Feature deprecation

The following section lists the features that have begun deprecation in this release, will be fully deprecated in the next release, or are retired as of this release. When a feature is deprecated, enhancements to it cease and customers are advised not to use the feature.

Optimize page layout ● The Optimize Page Layout toggle used for editing a home page has been deprecated. In a future release of SAP Jam, the toggle will be removed and all existing and new home pages will always be optimized.

Twitter integration ● Twitter integration continues deprecation as of this release.

3 Feature availability

All features in this SAP Jam Collaboration release will be available to customers working with the preview release starting on Friday, February 15, 2019. The release will be available in production starting on Friday, March 8, 2019.

All SAP Jam Collaboration documentation will be subject to ongoing updates for this release, with production-ready versions posted in February 2019. Please check the SAP Help Portal for your latest version of the product documentation.
