    NEWSLETTER

    WHAT HAS BEEN

    HAPPENING

Hi All. Well it certainly has

been busy since my returnfrom Pagosa Springs! As

Im sure many of you will

    have noticed my

schedule has been veryfull which great thank

    you for your support.

    It seems ages ago since

we held the 2* party (1stSeptember), it was a

    brilliant night, and was

such good fun spendingtime with and getting to

    know so many like-minded

    people. We are going to

    do it again soon

    GROUP LESSONS

    Group lessons have really

started to take off which I

am very pleased to see these are the best value

    for students, and as there

is more than one student, they allow some lick and

    chew time which

    strengthens the learning. I

    am running group lessons

    both at my property and

at any location that suitsstudents it just needs 2

    people to make it

    happen!

    ON THE ROAD AGAIN

In early October I wasback on the road

    teaching students fromBlenheim, Nelson and

    Takaka. Tony (my

    husband) came with me

    and he trimmed horses

while I taught. Tony is a

    qualified barefoot

    trimmer. We had a

    fabulous four days

    including running 2 group

    lessons/workshops andindividual lessons. The

    workshops were really

    popular and received

    excellent feedback which

    was brilliant.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    A recent highlight for me

    was having the Selwyn-

Rakaia riding club inviteme to teach a group

lesson at one of their club

    days @ the RDA arena

we had a great time! Some wonderful changes

    took place in horses and

humans. It is always reallygood to introduce Parelli

    to more people.

    OPERATION SHETLANDSHIFT

I was asked to be involved

    in the shifting of 35

    Shetland Ponies in one

day. Duncree ShetlandPony stud had been sold

    and the enormity of the

    task of shifting 35

Shetlands had struck itsowner Catherine. After an

    initial planning session we

    undertook 2 practicesessions.

    Given that there were in

    excess of 14 ponies that

had NEVER been on ahorse float before, this was

    going to be some task.

    We had a great time

    teaching these absolutely

    darling little ponies, many

of whom were very leftbrain. Shifting day

    dawned clear. The

    situation was that ALL 35

ponies had to be shifted inone day to be able to

    hand over a clear

    property to its new

    owners. Catherineenlisted a dozen good

    friends, many of whom are

Parelli students and myselfto lead the day. We had

about 8 floats that did the

    one hour round trip, whilst

    myself and my trusty

sidekicks were flat outloading ponies. It took

    exactly 3 hours to load,

    transport and deliver

    safely 35 shetland ponies!What a huge

    achievement. We had a

number of ponies whodidnt think it was a very

    good idea to leave their

    lovely home, but with

    some gentle savvy

    encouragement everyone

loaded and travelledperfectly. It could not

    have gone better. To say

    we were all flying after

that would be anunderstatement. A great

day and one I willremember for a long time.

Well done Catherine andall your savvy friends!

    GOAL SETTING

    We have also held some

    goal-setting sessions

    recently, with both groups

    and individuals for those

    who attended how are

    your goals going?

    Remember to share your

goals with others whichwill help motivate you toachieve them. If anyone

    is interested in a goal

    setting session either

groups or individuals, please feel free to

    contact me.

    FACILITIES!

    We have continued our

    work on developing our

property into a greatnatural horse facility, with

    some more fencing

    having just been

    completed. The all

    weather sand Arena has

    now been post and railed.

We have 2 rings (50 foot &100 foot), multiple yards

    and numerous obstacles

    and toys to play with

    including our newly

    acquired pedestal, bridge

    and seesaw (imported

    from Takaka!). We have

    replaced much of the old

fencing on the propertyincluding a boundary

    fence and in the process

    created a new central

paddock that all thepaddocks feed into that

makes the best use of the

    existing trees for natural

    shelter for the horses. This

has been quite a task but

    we finally seem to be

    getting there! YAH!

    COMING UP

    Reading your horse and

    Problem solving are 2

    very popular group

    lessons/workshops that I

    have coming up at my

    property plus I will also

    be holding a Preparing

for audition workshopsoon. See my schedule

    below for further details.

    EXCITING, EXCITING!!!

    Probably the most exciting

event on the horizon is the

fact that I have been able

to secure 4* InstructorRussell Higgins (based in

    the North Island) and 3*

    Instructor James Roberts

    (from the UK!) to spend

    the month of February in

    Canterbury! They will be

based at my property forthe month of February.

They are being assisted bySarah Olney a 1*

    Instructor who is also

    coming out from the UK.

They are starting (breakingin) 15 colts (fully booked)

    but you can waitlist your

    horse in case one pulls

    out. This is very exciting

and it is brilliant for Parelli

    to have these visiting

    Instructors here.

    OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

    Russell will also be running

a Level 2 two day clinic

    here on 16/17 February

2013, and a Level Oneintroductory clinic here on

    9/10 March while he is

    here Russell is a super

    instructor, making thelearning fun, informative

and successful. Bookingsare being taken for both

    clinics with spaces filling

fast. See schedule at theend of the newsletter for

    details.

    XMAS PARTY!

As a big thank you to

    everyone for supporting

me over the last year we

    will be hosting a Xmas

party & BBQ. This will be

    another great chance to

    meet up with like-minded

    people, talk horses for a

    few hours, plus celebrate

Xmas! For all friends, family and anyone

    interested in Parelli you

    are invited to our house

    on Sunday 9th December,anytime from 5pm. I will

    facilities. We will then be

    providing a BBQ tea.

Meat & salads will besupplied. Please just bring
