1. Do not use this printer near water or when exposed to inclement weather.

2. Do not place this printer on an unstable cart, stand or table; the product may fall, causing serious damageto the product.

3. Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable operation and to protect theprinter from everheating, do not block or cover any of these openings. Do not place the printer in an enclo-sure unless the enclosure provides adequate ventilation.

4. Never push objects of any kind into the printer through the cabinet ventilation slots as they may touch dan-gerous high voltage points, create short circuits, cause a fire, or produce an electrical shock. Never spill liq-uid of any kind on the printer.

5. Do not place the printer in a location where someone may trip on the cords.

6. Select a work surface that is large enough to hold the printer.

7. Position the printer within six feet of the computer and within five feet of an electrical outlet.

8. Operate this printer using the power source (110V, 220V, etc) indicated on the marking label. If you are notsure of the type of power source available, consult your dealer or local power company.

9. If you need to use an extension power cord with this printer, make sure that it uses a three-wire groundedcord and that the total ampere ratings for all of the products using the extension do not exceed the exten-sion cord ampere rating. Also, make sure that the total of all products plugged into the wall outlet does notexceed 15 amperes.

10. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord or data communications cable.

11. Unplug this printer from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays. Use adamp cloth for cleaning.

12. Do not touch the surface of the photo-sensitive drum as marks or scratches may impair print quality.

13. Do not expose the drum unit to direct light for prolonged periods.

14. Use only standard papers, OHP films, and approved envelopes. Feed OHP films though the manual feedslot only. See specifications for approved papers and envelopes.

1. Before disassembly, pull the power plug from the ACpower connector.

2. To avoid spilling toner inside the machine, do not turnthe printer over or on its side before removing thedeveloper cartridge.

3. Faulty installation of DRAMs may cause permanentdamage to the Laser Printer.

4. Use only+5V power for video controller-related circuit-ry.

5. When replacing parts, use only the same type of partas the original. Replacing components with a secondvendor’s part may cause faulty operation.

6. Check the insulation between the blades of the ACplug and accessible conductive parts (examples :metal panels and input ports).

7. Insulation Checking Procedure:Disconnect the power cord from the AC powersource. Connect an insulation resistance meter(500V) to the blades of the AC plug.

The insulation resistance between each blade of theAC plug and accessible conductive parts (see left)should be greater than 1 megaohm.

8. Never defeat any of the B+ voltage interlocks. Do notapply AC power to the unit (or any of its assemblies)unless all solid-state heat sinks are correctly installed.

9. Always connect a test instrument’s ground lead to theinstrument chassis ground before connecting the pos-itive lead; always remove the instrument’s groundlead last.

1-3

Precautions

1-3 Servicing Precautions

Note : Requirements for AC power are described on the label affixed to the inside of the printer. Check the ACvoltage rating requirement before use.

CAUTION : Be sure the power is off to the chas-sis or circuit board, and observe allother safety precautions

1. Immediately before handling any semiconductor com-ponents assemblies, drain the electrostatic chargefrom your body by touching a known earth ground.Alternatively, wear a discharging wrist strap device.(Be sure to remove the strap before applying powerto the unit under test to avoid potential shock.)

2. After removing ESD-equipped assembly, place it on aconductive surface such as aluminum foil to preventaccumulation of an electrostatic charge.

3. Do not use freon-propelled chemicals. These cangenerate electrical charges sufficient to damageESDs.

4. Use only a ground-tip soldering iron when solderingor desoldering ESDs.

5. Use only anti-static solder removal device. Some sol-der removal devices are not rated as “anti-static;”these can accumulate sufficient electrical

charge to damage ESDs.6. Do not remove a replacement ESD from its protective

package until you are ready to install it. Most replace-ment ESDs are package with leads that are electrical-ly shorted together by conductive foam, aluminum foilor other conductive materials.

7. Immediately before removing the protective materialfrom the leads of a replacement ESD, touch the pro-tective material to the chassis or circuit assembly intowhich the device will be installed.

8. Minimize body motions when handling unpackagedreplacement ESDs. Motion such as your clothesbrushing together, or lifting a foot from a carpetedfloor can generate enough static electricity to damagean ESC.

9. Handle ICs and EPROMs carefully to avoid bending apin.

10. Pay attention to the direction of parts when mountingor inserting them on a PCB.

11. Components can be permanently damaged if heatedfor longer than necessary while welding. All compo-nents are susceptible to heat damage.

1-4 ESD Precautions

Some semiconductor (“solid state”) devices are easily damaged from static electricity. Such components com-monly are called Electrostatically Sensitive Devices (ESDs); examples include integrated circuits (ICs), Large-Scale Integrated circuits (LSIs), some field-effect transistors, and semiconductor chip components. The follow-ing techniques will reduce the occurrence of component damage caused by static electricity:

3. Disassembly and Reassembly

3-1 General Precautions on Disassembly

When you disassemble and reassemble components, you must use extreme caution. The close proximity ofcables to moving parts makes proper routing a must. If components are removed, any cables disturbed by theprocedure must be restored as close as possible to their original positions. Before removing any componentfrom the machine, note the cable routing that will be affected.

Whenever servicing the machine, you must perform as follows:

1. Remove the paper cassette(s), and the print cartridge. Do not expose the cartridge to direct room light or sunlight, and be careful not to scratch the drum surface.

2. Turn the power switch off.

3. Unplug all the cables from the printer.

4. Replace with only an authorized component.

5. Do not force to open or fasten a plastic material component.

6. Be careful no obstacles are included when you reassemble components.

7. When you reassemble components, be careful small size components are located in place.

8. If you turn the machine over to replace some parts, toner or paper particles may contaminate the LSUwindow. Protect the LSU window with clean paper.

Releasing Plastic Latches

Many of the parts are held in place with plasticlatches. The latches break easily; release themcarefully. To remove such parts, press the hook endof the latch away from the part to which it islatched.

NoticeIn the ML-6060 Series system, the Developing/Supplying bias is set to decrease by -50V increments whenthe system load is over the specified value. Therefore, if you check the bias without the toner cartridge, thesystem load is recognized to be infinity and Developing/Supplying bias decreases by by -50V increments. At the first warm-up after the printer is powered on and then off, the software does not have the data on system load, so the Developing/Supplying bias measures -500V/-650V, the basic voltage. And, from the second warm-up and on, the software has the data on system load, so the bias measures-450V/-600V, which is less -50V than the basic voltage.

10-2-1-2 SMPS Board (Engine)

AC is received to create the needed quantity of +5V and+24V DC level. Adequate amount of voltage is supplied toeach units. It also supplies AC voltage to the Heat Lampof the fixed unit.

10-2-1-3 Engine Board (SMPS)

Engine Board uses the voltage received from SMPS tocontrol electric photo process, which is the basicoperation principle of LBP. Detailed explanation on eachcomposition elements are in the section 2.4 EngineController.

10-2-1-4 HVPS Board

HVPS board creates optimum image formation conditionby supplying High Voltage from THV/MHV/Supply/Dev tothe developer.HVPS board also has Cover Open Sensing unit, whichshuts off Main Motor, LSU, Fan, Clutch and +24V whenthe front cover is opened.

10-2-1-5 Develop Unit

Develop unit creates image using electric photo process. This unit consists of Charge Roller, OPC drum, DeveloperRoller, Supply Roller and Toner.

10-2-1-6 LSU(Laser Scanning Unit)

LSU is controlled by Video Controller. It is the core partthat forms charge ripple at the OPC drum by applyingvideo data from the video controller, exposure from OPCdrum and the rotation principle of polygon mirror. OPCdrum synchronously rotates with the paper feedingspeed. At this point, when the laser beam within the LSUreaches the edge of the polygon mirror, /HSYNC signal issent to the engine. The engine then detects the /HSYNCsignal and properly adjust the vertical image lines of thepaper. The image data is sent to the LSU at the set time, followed by /HSYNC signal detection to adjust the leftmargin. It becomes one of the lines scanned by one side

of polygon mirror.

10-2-1-7 Transfer Section

The toner on the surface of a paper, which passed thetransfer section is at a low electric state. Therefore, it caneasily spread. At this point, high temperature of 180°…and pressure of 3 Kg are applied to permanently stick thetoner to the paper. The resulted image remainspermanently. The heat roller transfers the heat from theinternal heat lamp to the surface to apply the heat to thepaper that passes the surface. The melted toner due tothe heat does not stay on the surface of the Teflon coatedheat roller. The pressure roller located on the bottom ofthe heat roller is made from Silicon Resin and it's surfaceis also coated with Teflon. The thermistor of the printingsection senses the temperature of the heat roller andfeedback the information to maintain 185°… duringprinting mode and 145°… at standby mode. Thethermostat used as secondary safety feature preventsoverheat by turning off the main power when the heatlamp is overheated.

10-2-3-3 Circuit

1) AC Input and DC

AC input unit is composed of FUSE, VARISTOR, NOISECAPACITOR and LINE FILTER. DC unit is composed ofBRIDGE DIODE and ELECTRIC CAPACITOR. TheFUSE(F501) has specification of 125V/8A for 110V and250V/5A for 220V. FUSE contains the function to preventdamage due to SMPS fire in the event of malfunction of 1st. PWM Control and parts causing excess voltage.NOISE CAPACITOR is EMI counter part, which iscomposed of CAPACITOR(C501, C505) for the normalmode noise and CAPACITOR(CC503, C504, C506) forcommon mode noise.

Larger the capacity of the CAPACITOR, greater theNOISE absorption effect. But, adequate capacitor shouldbe carefully selected since leakage current increases withthe increased capacity in capacitor, which has highpotential of electric shock. The Line Filter connected tothe Capacitor has the EMI Noise eliminating function.Especially, the filter and the capacitor not only absorbs thenoise being transferred out of the printer through powerline, it also absorbs the opposite noise coming from theexterior.

2) SWITCHING Control Section

SMPS is driven by OSC. It has uniform switchingfrequency and the range of 'On Time' Pulse may varydepending on the surrounding condition. Basic operationprocedure is as following.

Turn on the AC power. AC input voltage will pass throughNoise Filter circuit, Bridge Diode(BD502) andcondenser(C507). High level of DC voltage is createdthen the start resistance which passed through R509 and510 will supply voltage to the supporting currentunit(Vcc);#5pin of the PWM Control IC U502 (STR-G6153T) to control the current inside the IC. Then, turn onthe Gate in the FET. At this point the current passedthrough FET will flow through the 1st trance coil T501. pin#1 and the supporting current in the trance #5 and 6 willbe abandoned.

The current flowing through the 1st trance coil U502(STR-6153) will rapidly increase current in #1 Drain and thisprocess will block the abandoned current in the 2ndtrance coil of the transformer to flow out. Followed by thisoperation, due to the surrounding condition change, Draincurrent reaches the critical rigging point of U502(hfe). Thisis caused by the relative decrease in Drain currentcompared to time. This indicates that U502 is unable tomaintain On status. Such condition is the area ofInsufficient Gate Current.

According to the FET characteristics, DRAIN voltage ofU502 progresses from the saturated area to unsaturatedarea. At this point, the voltage from 1st. trance coil willdecrease and quickly turns off the U502, which createscounter electric power in each coil of trance. This electricpower creates abandoned voltage from the limitedamount of current flown from 2nd. trance coil to the 1st.trance coil. The current then flows into U503(PHOTOCOUPLER) to bypass the U502 feedback. Then, U502turns on. Through such repetitious process, the currentflowing through 2nd trance coil is filtered to createnecessary DC voltage. DC output and feedback circuitare created by +5V of D503 and C515. +24V is createdby abandoned voltage from the 2nd. trance coil due toD504 and C518. In order to maintain uniform DC outputlevel, detect the output level from R515 and R518 tomaintain uniform level, then enabled feedback bydisconnecting the Shunt Regulaor IC(U504) and usedPHOTO COULPER (U503).

3) Fixed Temperature Control

To control the fixed lamp, the control signal of "FUSERON" in Logic section and the supply of DC voltage in theSMPS section is necessary.

The circuit turns on when the "FUSER ON" sends theoperation signal and the DC power is supplied. Theoperation principle of control circuit of fixed lamp is asfollowing.

Trigger current flows to Triac Driver U501 LED due to"FUSER ON" of Logic. Then the Photo detector of U501will detect the infrared ray and the Triac of U501 willactivate. The current will thend send the Trigger input tothe Gate of Triac THY501.

At this point THY501 will be activated and AC power willbe supplied to the fixed lamp, then the lamp will turn onand the temperature will rise. Because the fixed lampcircuit uses AC voltage as it's voltage supply, bidirectionalTriac(THY501) is applied, since it has advantage in price, size and reliability compared to unidirectional SCR.

The Gate terminal of Triac can be triggered as ordered oropposite direction signal. Once the triac turns on, it cannotbe controlled by the Gate signal. It maintains until the levelof current flowing in the main terminal falls below the levelof maintaining current. In other words, it cannot be turnedoff by counter current as that of SCR. Such characteristicsis categorized as Critical Rigging Time Rate(Commutation: dv/dt). In the application of electric powerexchange, Triac either turns off the activation or switchestwice in each period at Zero Crossing. Such switchingmovement is called Commutation.

It is able to turn off the triac at the end of the half periodby deleting the Gate signal. It is possible when the levelof (IL) current is below the level of maintaining current. When the Triac commutation is Off, the voltage willinstantly change to opposite direction and the VAC willincrease to the maximum level. At this time, the range ofincrease rate is decided by dv/dt and the Overshootvoltage is decided by the circuit. Also, the voltage of Triacwill have same level of voltage when the commutation ofTriac is Off.

10-2-3-4 Sensor Input Circuit

1) Paper Empty Sensing

The Paper Empty Sensor(Photo Interruptor), which islocated in the Engine Board informs the CPU the statusof paper volume through the operation of actuator fixedon the frame. If there is no paper in the Cassette, it notifiesthe second LED(yellow) of the panel LED by reading theDO Bit of CPU U7.

2) Paper Feeding/Width Sensing

When the fed paper passes through the actuator of thefeed sensor, it notifies that the paper is being transferredto CPU by detecting the Photo Interrupter signal and theimage data is distributed after set amount of timepasses.(related to top layer of paper) If the feed sensordoes not detect within 1 second of paper feeding, JAM0(CPU #105) will occur.

(Both Red & Yellow of OP Panel LED will turn on) Sameconcept is applied to sense paper width. The actuator willactivate if A4 or Letter size paper is fed. If other sizes ofpapers are fed, the 'P_WIDTH*' signal remains at Highstate. This explains how paper widths are sensed.(U7 D6Bit)

10-2-3-5 DC FAN / SOLENOID Circuit

Fan circuit is operated by transistor and controlled by D6Bit of U2.

Q9 turns on at High and the fan operates. It turns off atsleep mode.

Solenoid operates during paper fill up. On and off isactivated by D4 Bit of U2 and the operating time is 300ms.At this time, D10(1N4003) Diode protects Q3(KSC1008-Y) from the Noise pulse generated during De-energizingof solenoid.

10-2-3-6 Motor Circuit

Motor circuit is decided at the Driver IC selectionstage.(Vendor provides) Motor Driver IC of A2918SWH(U2) is used here. But thesensing resistance (R44, R48) value and the referenceresistance (R40,R49) value can be adjusted dependingon the motor activating current. The value of motoractivating current is calculated by following formula.

From above formula, by applying R49=10 Kohm,R40=4.7Kohm and Rs=0.39 ohm, you should haveI=1.05 A. The operation principle is that motor enablesignal is received from CPU and create bipolar pulse andrelay the output to the stepping motor input.

I = Vref / Rs,

Vref = (R49°ø5V) / (R40+R49)

10-2-4-1 Power On Reset Circuit

Reset circuit initializes KS61200 CPU(U17) when thepower turns on and prevents unstable CPU operationuntil the power reaches standard level. This circuit iscomposed of R-C circuit, which decides the value of7705A(U14) Reset IC and Reset time. Reset takes place

0.4seconds after the power is on and when the powerlevel falls below 4.75V. Then, CPU(U17) carries outinitialization accordingly. 'RESET' signal is set at Highfollowed by voltage change approximately after 137ms.

As shown in the diagram, when the power reaches 4.75Vafter initial power(Vcc) is on, Reset signal is sent to CPUafter 400ms by reset circuit. At this time CPU initializesitself and the surrounding elements. Also, it preventsvarious malfunctions by sending the reset signal when theVcc falls below 4.75 V during operation.(Initial operation

voltage of IC : 5V°æ0.5V) Since IC guarantees operationat minimum 4.5V, before the level falls below theminimum value, the circuit is designed to activate resetfunction at 4.7V.

10-2-4-2 CPU

CPU is 32bit microprocessor SAMSUNG KS61200(U17,240pin). CPU receives 20MHz OSC Clock and operatesat 66MHz. All surrounding IC's are controlled by CPU.(Refer to Data Book for detailed CPU Specification.)

10-2-4-3 CPU Circuit

OSC(20MHz) is applied. Clock is applied to CPU #253using FS741. The DC connected Bead and Resistance reused for EMI counter measures.

10-2-4-4 Fuser Control / Thermistor Circuit

To settle the toner to the surface of a paper, this circuitadequately controls the temperature of heat lamp. It iscomposed of thermistor, LM393(voltage comparison) andtransistor for switching. Basic principle is that thethermistor attains resistance value that is inverselyproportional to the heat lamp temperature. The voltagevalue distributed between the resistance R69 and R57 isread at #60 pin(AVIN2) of CPU. This voltage value

becomes active(inactive) when Fuser signal is High(low)according to the set temperature table and the Romprogram. Based on the Q2 switching, if the 'FUSERON*'signal is low, TCP3061(U501) turns on. AC voltage isapplied to the heat lamp by turning on the bidirectionalThyristor(THY501) or shut off by turning off thebidirectional Thyristor(THY501). LM393 is the hardwaretype safety feature to prepare for abnormal heat lampcontrol. When the temperature of thermistor rises to 210°…, #1 pin of LM393 falls to low level, which turns the'FUSERON*' signal to High.(Q8 is forced Off). Therefore, the heat lamp is forced to go Off.

10-2-4-5 Sensing Circuit

1) Cover Open Sensing

Cover Open Sensor is located on the top right side ofHVPS. When the front cover opens, it shuts off +24V(DCfan, Solenoid, Main Motor, LSU Polygon Motor andHVPS) supplied to each unit. D0 Bit of U7 senses coveropen by sensing the developing section with D7 Bit of U7.In this case, the red LED, which is located on top of theOP Panel informs the user of the situation.

The paper recognizes the On/Off time of the exitsensor through D2 Bit of U7 and notifies the normaloperation or jam information to the CPU. Paper JAM2 isalso notified.(Both Red & Yellow LED from OP Panel Letgo on)

10-2-4-6 LSU Circuit

1) Polygon Motor (+24V)

Polygon motor inside the LSU rotates by 'PMOTOR*'signal. It passes Transient section and reaches the motorsection, 'LREADY*' signal is notified to CPU #115 pin. When LSU uses external clock for the motor rotationfrequency, 'CLOCK' pin accepts the necessary frequency.Clock circuit is composed inside the engine. Crystalfrequency of 6.81984 MHz is activated by 74HC4060N ICand uses 1665Hz for the rotation frequency of thepolygon motor.

2) Laser (+5V)

When the laser is turned on by 'LDON*' signal, horizontalscan takes place due to the 6 sided reflectionmirror(Polygon mirror) attached to the polygon motor, which rotates in clockwise direction. At this time, when thelaser beam reaches the starting corner of each surface,'HSYNC*' signal(pulse) is activated. The video controlleruses 'HSYNC*' signal to form left margin of theimage.(horizontal synchronous signal) When the 'Vdout*'signal in inputted to the LSU, it becomes 'LDON*' andANDring to investigate suitable laser beam(Vdout datacontained).(ON/OFF switching)

10-2-5-2 Electric Photo Process

Electric photo process is widely used to the image creationfeatures of copying machines, laser beam printers andfacsimiles. It’s process involves transferring, exposing, developing, transferring and settling in respective order.First, form uniform electric charge of -800V on the surfaceof OPC with -1.4KV(adjusted) through transfer roller. Theelectrically charged OPC drum surface react to the image

data from LSU, which received print order based on therotation and becomes exposed. At this time, the areasthat are not exposed will maintain the previous electricpotential of -800V. The exposed image areas by LSU willcontain approximately -250V and form charge ripple.Such drum surface of reduced exposure, which formedcharge ripple, reaches the develop roller according to thedrum rotation and goes through the developmentprocess. The charge ripple formed on the OPC drumsurface is developed by the toner on the develop rollerand transforms into image. This step converts the imageformed on the OPC drum surface by LSU to the imageformed by toner.

The supply roller that received -650V(adjusted) fromHVPS and the DEVE roller that received -500V(adjusted)will rotate in the same direction. The toner supplied to theOPC drum becomes negatively(-) charged due to thestatic formed between the two rollers. The toner suppliedto the develop roller is transferred(BIAS) to thedevelopment section. The negatively charged toner is

attached to the develop roller, then transferred to theexposed high electric potential surface(-250V) rather thanlow electric potential surface(-800V). The image is formedsince the toner is not spread on the low electric potentialsurface. The transfer process takes place when the OPCdrum continuously rotates and reaches the transfersection. The (-) toner on the OPC drum surface istransferred to the paper surface by transfer roller. The (-)toner on the OPC drum surface receives hundreds up tothousands of (+) volts from HVPS and transferred to thepaper surface since the (+) voltage is larger than the (-)toner on the OPC. The toner with weak static energysettles on the paper by pressure and heat from thepressure roller and heat roller. The printing process iscompleted when the pressure from the pressure rollerand the heat from the heat roller forces the melted tonerto settle the image on the paper surface and the paperexits the printer.

10-3-2 Electric Photo Process

Electric photo process is widely used to the imagecreation features of copying machines, laser beamprinters and facsimiles. It’s process involves transferring, exposing, developing, transferring and settling inrespective order.

First, form uniform electric charge of -800V on the surfaceof OPC with -1.4KV(adjusted) through transfer roller. Theelectrically charged OPC drum surface react to the imagedata from LSU, which received print order based on therotation and becomes exposed.

The toner supplied

to the develop roller is transferred(BIAS) to thedevelopment section. 0-4 High Pressure Printing

10-4-1 MHV (Electric Charge Printing Section)

The ENABLE of electric charge printing is the control signal ‘PWM-LOW ACTIVE’ . When MHV-PWM LOW SIGNAL takesplace, Q401 turns On and normal voltage is supplied to OP-AMP 324. Due to the condition that the supplied voltage is higherthan the OP-AMP reference voltage set at R405 and R406, OP-AMP output becomes High. This output passes R408, C403and R409 and reaches the supporting trance coil, then Q402 turns on. When the start current flows into Q402, the IC flowsthrough 1st. trance coil, current increases proportional to the time and reaches the limit of Q402 Hfe, it can no longer maintainOn status and turns Off. Reverse voltage forms at the TRANS N1 when Q402 turns Off. Energy is supplied to 2nd. trancecoil, to yield current and MHV voltage is generated through the high pressure area.

Circuit Description

10-21

10-4-2 BIAS(SUPPLY / DevelopmentSection)

The BIAS voltage output method is same as MHV voltageoutput method. According to the circuit, Q502 is turnedOn when BIAS-PWM LOW signal is received. Supply isgenerated by TRANS T501 and the electric potentialequivalent to ZD501 is generated to the developmentvoltage.

10-4-3 THV(THV(+) / THV(-) Section)

The ENABLE of transfer (+)printing is the control signal‘PWM-LOW ACTIVE’ . When MHV-PWM LOW SIGNALtakes place, Q203 turns On and normal voltage issupplied to OP-AMP 324. OP-AMP output becomes Highsince the voltage supplied is higher than the referencevoltage of OP-AMP. At this point, 24V power controls theelectric potential with ZD201 and ZD202 and sends IB tosupporting trans through R212 and C204 to turn On.When the start current flows into Q204, the IC flowsthrough 1st. trance coil of T201, current increasesproportional to the time and reaches the limit of Q204 Hfe,it can no longer maintain On status and turns Off.Reverse voltage forms at the TRANS N1 when Q204turns Off. Energy is supplied to 2nd. trance coil, to yieldcurrent and THV voltage is generated through the highpressure area. At this point, output voltage is determinedby the period of DUTY. As PWM DUTY period, Q203switches to alters electric potential of OP-AMP VREF toalter the output, where MAX is at 0% and MIN is at 100%. Transfer(-)output is the THV-EA ‘L’ ENABLE. Q302 turnsOn at THV-EA ‘L’. Q303 turns On when VCE electricpotential is generated and the IB passes through R311,C305, VR302, R314 and supporting trance coil. When thestart current flows into Q303, the IC flows through 1st.trance coil of T301, current increases proportional to thetime and reaches the limit of Q303 Hfe, it can no longermaintain On status and turns Off. Reverse voltage formsat the TRANS N1 when Q303 turns Off. Reverse voltageforms at the TRANS N1 when Q303 turns Off. Energy issupplied to 2nd. trance coil, to yield current and THV(-)voltage is generated through the high pressure area.

10-4-4 Environment

THV voltage recognizes the change in the transfer rollerenvironment and then supplies optimum voltage for theenvironment to create optimum image. Analog data isconverted to digital by the environment sensor of thetransfer roller. According to such digital output stored inthe program in the engine controller Rom, and with theconsideration of the paper type printing environment, optimum transfer voltage is supplied. The environment recognition setting for the ML-6000series is as following. First set the THV(+) standard voltage. Then, set the 800Vstandard voltage by using VR201, which has 200ߤsupplied in the output section. Next, set the standard CPUindex value to 80 using VR302. This is to set the CPUstandard of feedback current to 8ßÀ when the outputvoltage is 800V and resistance is 100ߤ. If differenceresistance value appear at 800V, the feedback currentand the index value will also vary accordingly. Based onthe index value read by CPU and already set TransferTable, the corresponding transfer voltage is generated. The change in transfer output required in each section isadjusted by PWM-DUTY.
