Coursing Class Dogs Coursing Class Bitches For dogs and bitches that are AKC registered and are confirmed AKC and/or ASFA lure cours-ing champions or open field coursing champions. Titles may be from any recognized coursing organization. All entrants must be intact. NOTE: Exhibitor must supply proof of eligibility for the class with entry. A copy of the certificate awarding the title or a copy of View Points/Summary of the Title Progression for this dog can be printed out and is an acceptable form of confirma-tion of title. Dogs & Bitches will not be entered into this class without proof of title accompany-ing the entry form. First place winners are eligible for Best of Breed competition provided all AKC eligibility and requirements have been met. Best of Breed Competition: The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed (Variety) Competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which according to their owner's records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed champions in Best of Breed (Variety) Competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship. AKC Selects for GCH points will be chosen following Best of Breed.
Points for Reserve: At the National Specialty the dog designated Reserve Winners Dog and
the bitch designated Reserve Winners Bitch will be awarded a three-point major, provided that
the number of dogs competing in the regular classes of the Reserve Winner’s sex totals at
least twice the number required for a five-point major, in the region in which the event is held.
Select Dog, Select Bitch, Award of Merit: Select Dog and Select Bitch are recognized as the
top quality of their sex after BOB and BOS have been awarded. As an Award of Merit is a club
award and the Select is an official award of the AKC, the Select is of GREATER precedence
than the Award of Merit. Awards of Merit are for those Salukis considered for Best of Breed or
Best of Opposite Sex and are chosen after the Select Dog and Select Bitch. Winners Dog or
Winners Bitch are eligible, along with all other Salukis which, in the opinion of the judge,
would, on another day, achieve Best of Breed or Best Opposite Sex to Best of Breed. SCOA
offers a maximum of ten Awards of Merit, of which the Judge may award all, some, or none.
AKC National Owner-Handled Series: See Page 30.
Best from the Bred by Exhibitor Classes: After Best of Breed, Selects and Awards of Merit
are chosen, the winners of Bred By Exhibitor Dog and Bred By Exhibitor Bitch compete for

Best Bred by Exhibitor. If Best of Winners is from the Bred by Exhibitor class, that entry is automatically Best Bred by Exhibitor. Best Puppy from the Regular Puppy Classes: After Best of Breed, Selects and Awards of Merit are chosen, the winners of Puppy Dog 6-9 months, Puppy Dog 9-12 months, Puppy Bitch 6-9 months, and Puppy Bitch 9-12 months compete for Best Puppy. If the entry has been defeated by another puppy (Winners or Reserve), the entry is not eligible to compete for Best Puppy. If Best of Winners is from either the 6-9 month or 9-12 month class, that entry is automatically Best Puppy. NON-REGULAR CLASSES (INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES) Note: Non-regular classes involving multiple entries may be judged before or after Best of Breed. As the judge’s decision in these classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog, no one of the dogs making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed by virtue of having won the class. Stud Dog Class and Brood Bitch Class: Each entry is allowed two to four get. The merits of the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch are not considered in the placement of the entry. It is the quality of the get that forms the basis for the judge’s decision. All get must be examined and gaited. The Stud Dog or Brood Bitch must also be examined to determine if there is a condition that would require disqualification or excusal under the Rules, AKC policy or the breed standard. All get must be entered in a regular class in order to be eligible to compete in the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch Class. Handlers of the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch, and all get being exhibited, must wear armbands. Ch. 11, Sec. 8 of the “Rules Applying to Dog Shows” provides that “a castrated male may be entered as a Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch Class.” Brace Class: Two Dogs, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. If a dog which is to be part of a Brace is not entered in another class, it must be entered for “Brace Class only.” An entry form for a dog entered in another class and entered as part of a Brace must be marked accordingly in the space provided for additional classes as “Brace Class.” OBEDIENCE TRIAL CLASSES Jump Height must be indicated on applicable Obedience classes REGULAR CLASSES – Novice Class A & B • Open Class A & B • Utility Class A & B OPTIONAL TITLING CLASSES – Beginner Novice A & B • Graduate Novice • Graduate Open • Versatility PREFERRED CLASSES – Preferred Novice • Preferred Open • Preferred Utility NON-REGULAR CLASSES – Veterans RALLY TRIAL CLASSES – RALLY RING WILL BE 40’ X 60’ Jump Height must be indicated on applicable Rally classes REGULAR CLASSES – Novice A & B • Intermediate • Advanced A & B • Excellent A & B • Master OBEDIENCE & RALLY EXHIBITORS: TRANSFERS WILL BE ACCEPTED ACCORDING TO CH. 1, SEC. 16, OBEDIENCE REGULATIONS, OR CHAPTER 1, SECTION 13 OF THE RALLY REGULATIONS. PEE WEE CLASS SPECIAL ATTRACTION – Wednesday September 22, 2021 NO ENTRY FEE JUDGE: MRS. MONICA STONER The Pee Wee Special Attraction is a pre-Junior Showmanship class. The Pee Wee class is geared toward children 5–9 years of age. Safety is a primary concern. Each Pee Wee unit consists of the child, his/her parent/guardian/responsible adult, and the dog. Only one Pee Wee unit is in the ring at a time. This is not a competitive class, but rather a fun, learning experience for the child and the adult. • A dog must be at least four months of age to enter the Pee Wee class. • Bitches in season will not be allowed to participate. If pre-entered, a dog may be substituted that meets the eligibility requirements as specified by the club. • All dogs entered must have the proper lead and collar. • A responsible adult must be present with the child both inside and outside the ring. The adult is to maintain control of the dog outside of the ring. The safety of both the dogs and Juniors inside and outside the ring is a primary concern. Outside of the ring, the dog is to be controlled by the adult accompanying the child. An addi-tional lead, provided by the Club, will be at the Judge’s table. At the Judge’s discretion based upon the size of the child and the dog, for safety purposes the adult may be asked to attach a second lead to the dog so both child and adult will walk the dog together.
REGISTRATION WILL BE TAKEN AT THE SHOW SECRETARY’S TABLE WEDNESDAY
STARTING AT 9:00 AM. EACH ENTRANT WILL BE REQUIRED TO FILL OUT AN ENTRY
FORM. IN ADDITION TO AN ENTRY, A RELEASE MUST BE SIGNED BY THE CHILD’S
PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN. JUDGING WILL BE HELD DURING THE LUNCH

FIFTH ANNUAL STATE BASKET RAFFLE AT THE 2021 SALUKI NATIONAL – Thursday September 23, 2021 50% of the proceeds will go to Saluki Health Research, Inc. We are hoping to have a raffle basket from every state in the nation (foreign countries also welcome!). Each basket will represent the uniqueness of your state. What is your state famous for? Example: Virginia, hunt country, peanuts, cherry blossoms, wine, and of course Virginia is for Lovers (a fuzzy red heart dog toy). Tickets will be sold ringside and at the Ways and Means table. Winners will be picked Thursday afternoon/evening after breed judging concludes for the day and before the evening’s festivities begin. First ticket picked will get first choice from all the baskets, second ticket picked will get second choice, etc., until all the baskets are gone. Just prior to the start of the raffle all baskets will be judged. The judge’s choice will have their state basket pictured on the SCOA website and win a prize! The prize, a $50.00 gas card, will go to the coordinator of the state basket! We need a volunteer from each state to coordinate your state’s basket. This entails collecting items from other Saluki fanciers in your state to make up your basket. The basket can be any-thing from a wicker basket to a laundry basket. Don’t limit yourself!!! The Sky’s the Limit!! If you have lots of Saluki people in your state, make 2 baskets (i.e., Southern & Northern California). If you have any questions or to volunteer to coordinate your state basket contact:
