Learning and Living Our Catholic FaithMy Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Risen Lord Jesus,Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Jesus Christ is Risen from the Dead! Alleluia!

On behalf of Br Lou Falbo OMV, Fr Dave Beauregard OMV, Fr John Wykes OMV, Fr John Luong OMV and Deacon Jim Schwartzkopf, a Happy and Blessed Easter to you and your family!

I invite you to plumb the depths of the Mystery of Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, spoken of so profoundly in this ancient sermon given by an unknown author in the first centuries of our holy Church.

God bless you and your family this Eastertide and always! - Fr Jeremy OMV"What is happening? Today there is a great silence over the earth, a great

silence, and stillness, a great silence because the King sleeps; the earth was in terror and was still, because God slept in the flesh and raised up those who were sleeping from the ages. God has died in the flesh, and the underworld has trembled.

Truly, he goes to seek out our first parent like a lost sheep; he wishes to visit those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death. He goes to free the prisoner Adam and his fellow-prisoner Eve from their pains, he who is God, and Adam's son.

The Lord goes in to them holding his victorious weapon, his cross. When Adam, the first created man, sees him, he strikes his breast in terror and calls out to all: 'My Lord be with you all.' And Christ in reply says to Adam: ‘And with your spirit.’ And grasping his hand he raises him up, saying: ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

‘I am your God, who for your sake became your son, who for you and your descendants now speak and command with authority those in prison: Come forth, and those in darkness: Have light, and those who sleep: Rise.

‘I command you: Awake, sleeper, I have not made you to be held a prisoner in the underworld. Arise from the dead; I am the life of the dead. Arise, O man, work of my hands, arise, you who were fashioned in my image. Rise, let us go hence; for you in me and I in you, together we are one undivided person.

‘For you, I your God became your son; for you, I the Master took on your form; that of slave; for you, I who am above the heavens came on earth and under the earth; for you, man, I became as a man without help, free among the dead; for you, who left a garden, I was handed over to Jews from a garden and crucified in a garden’.

‘Look at the spittle on my face, which I received because of you, in order to restore you to that first divine inbreathing at creation. See the blows on my cheeks, which I accepted in order to refashion your distorted form to my own image.

'See the scourging of my back, which I accepted in order to disperse the load of your sins which was laid upon your back. See my hands nailed to the tree for a good purpose, for you, who stretched out your hand to the tree for an evil one.

`I slept on the cross and a sword pierced my side, for you, who slept in paradise and brought forth Eve from your side. My side healed the pain of your side; my sleep will release you from your sleep in Hades; my sword has checked the sword which was turned against you.

‘But arise, let us go hence. The enemy brought you out of the land of paradise; I will reinstate you, no longer in paradise, but on the throne of heaven. I denied you the tree of life, which was a figure, but now I myself am united to you, I who am life. I posted the cherubim to guard you as they would slaves; now I make the cherubim worship you as they would God.

"The cherubim throne has been prepared, the bearers are ready and waiting, the bridal chamber is in order, the food is provided, the everlasting houses and rooms are in readiness; the treasures of good things have been opened; the kingdom of heaven has been prepared before the ages."

EASTER SUNDAYRESURRECTION OF THE LORD–SOLEMNITY

Focus: Is it fact or fiction? The totality of our faith hinge on our fervent belief that the tomb is empty.

It all comes down to this. Jesus being raised from the dead gives purpose to his cross and ours. Without the Resurrection, all suffering is absurd, death is the end and we are lost.Saint Peter gives a summary of the Paschal Mystery in our reading from Acts. In the reading from Colossians, Paul reminds us that being raised in Christ calls us to a higher standard. In the Gospel, Mary Magdala does not go into the empty tomb right away. Instead, she seeks out Peter and the Beloved Disciple.

PART ONE - THE PROFESSION OF FAITHSECTION ONE - "I BELIEVE" - "WE BELIEVE"

God Comes To Meet Man – The Stages of Revelation”56. After the unity of the human race was shattered by sin God at once sought to save humanity part by part. The covenant with Noah after the flood gives expression to the principle of the divine economy toward the "nations", in other words, towards men grouped "in their lands, each with (its) own language, by their families, in their nations".9

FORMED PICK OF THE WEEKSymbolon: Knowing the Faith

Session 6: The Paschal Mystery Why do Christians worship a crucified God?

We’ve all heard that Christ died for our sins and rose again on Easter, but what does it mean? In this original Augustine Institute production, Dr. Edward Sri opens our eyes to the deeper meaning behind the fundamental mystery of our Christian faith.

“Symbolon is giving me an understanding of my Catholic faith that I never got growing up!” — Anonymous

THE KIOSK CORNERThe Mass Explained

Inspiring speaker Fr. Larry Richards presents exciting and powerful insights into the history, spirituality, and biblical foundations of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. He opens the door for us to enter more profoundly into this most perfect prayer and unite our offering with that of the priest. This will change the way you experience this most sacred of all mysteries, the source and summit of our lives.

It jolted me out of stagnation! It has renewed my love for the Mass and for Jesus. Nancy – Plattsburgh, NY

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAYDivine Mercy Sunday is NEXT Sunday, April 8th, the First Sunday after Easter, and our Parish will be holding an afternoon Holy Hour from 3:00 pm-4:00 pm with Priests available for the Sacrament of Confession. Divine Mercy Sunday is the Octave Day of Easter and brings us the fullness of Christ’s Resurrection!

Here are the promises and gifts of Jesus, from the Diary of St. Faustina, 699. Jesus said of Divine Mercy Sunday: “On that day, the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity.”

THAT MAN IS YOU (TMIY)Our next meeting of That Man Is You (TMIY) will be NEXT Saturday, April 7th in the Parish Center. This will be our last meeting before summer break. We will meet from 6:30 – 8:00 am followed by Mass in the Parish Center at 8:00 am.

November 12 Our pilgrimage to Mexico City begins as we depart the USA for Mexico City, Mexico. On arrival, we will meet our tour escort and transfer to our hotel. Enroute we'll visit Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine where our priests will celebrate Mass, and we'll have our first encounter with Mary in the Tilma. Next, hotel check-in. Dinner. Overnight Mexico City

November 13 This morning after breakfast we head again to the Shrine of Our Lady of Gua-dalupe, “The Patroness of the Americas.” We celebrate Mass in the brilliantly colored, modern Basilica dedicated in 1976. Join your prayers with those of other pilgrims as you kneel before the altar displaying the astounding Tilma, the cloak that bears Mary's miraculous image. We'll also visit other sites at the Shrine including the Church of the Hill, Church of the Well, Monument of the Offerings and Church of the Indians. Dinner. Overnight Mexico City

November 14 Depart for Tulpetlac to celebrate Mass. This is the site of the 5th apparition of the Blessed Mother and the healing of St. Juan Diego’s uncle, Juan Bernadino. We'll have the opportunity to drink water from this miraculous well. Afterwards, we journey to the amazing Pyramids of Teotihuacan - “Place of the Gods”, where we’ll visit the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and other fascinating structures. Overnight Mexico City

November 15 Today we'll have guided exploration of the National Ethnographic Museum, where we'll learn much about the Aztec peoples and what Mary's apparition to Juan Diego meant to them and to us all. After lunch in the neighboorhood of Xochimilco known as the “Floating Gardens," we'll visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Tomb of Bishop Zumar-

raga, who was the first to see Our Lady of Guadalupe on her Tilma. Free time at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is also possible. Overnight Mexico City

November 16 Full day excursion outside of Mexico City. We’ll visit Puebla to see St. Dom-inic’s Church called the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” because of its scalloped goldleaf walls and ceilings. Puebla, a city dating back to colonial times is known for its exquisite pottery. Travel back to Mexico City through spectacular mountains with a view of the two most famous peaks which are perpetually covered with snow. This is considered one of the most beautiful drives in Mexico. We’ll dine at the famous Focolare Restaurant, famous for its costumed entertainers and traditional Mexican fare. Overnight Mexico City

November 17 After an early breakfast we celebrate Mass at the Church where Blessed Fr. Miguel Pro, S.J. Fr. Miguel was among many martyred for their faith in last century under the Calles Regime. If time allows we'll make a farewell visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and depart for the airport for our return flight home.
