BISHOP DAVID J. WALKOWIAK ASKS US TO
PRAY FOR OUR SEMINARIANS
Loving God, Raise up dedicated leaders who will shepherd your people and guide them to your Son. Give generous and willing hearts to the seminari-ans of our Diocese who have heard your call to live a life of service to the Church. Help us to encour-age and support them as they strive to become priests who are models of discipleship, possessors of wisdom and on fire with love for your people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
We especially pray for: Michael Goodwin

NEW CHILDREN’S OFFERING ENVELOPES We encourage you to pick up a few “blue” children’s envelopes from the Narthex and help your children fill them out and return at Mass weekly. Each envelope has a line for the child to write down “how they lived their faith this past week”. Maybe they said a prayer for grandma or helped mom with dishes or made a new friend at school. Beginning next weekend, Fr Ayub will call the children forward at Mass (during the offertory collection) and have the children bring him their envelopes. This is a great opportunity to show the children of our parish how even they can SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS!

October 14 ~ Would you be willing to pray for one hour? 40 Days for Life is a unique pro-life ef-fort that consists of 40 days of prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil in front of abortion clinics. National campaigns since 2007 have resulted in the closing of 43 clinics, including 3 in Michigan, as well as over 8,245 babies lives saved, and mothers spared the tragedy of abortion. The Grand Rapids campaign will be in front of the Heritage Clinic at 320 E. Fulton, the only abortion clinic still operating in our commu-nity. Dozens of area churches have adopted a day of pray-er. Our parish cluster has chosen Oct 14 to fill in the time slots to pray to end abortion and close the Heritage abortion clinic in GR. Contact Lisa Potts 616-723-3213 or [email protected]. Sign up or for more information. We will need 2 prayer volunteers from 7 am till 7 pm throughout the day. This is a powerful and proven effective way to close abortion centers and show the Mother's that we are praying and thinking about them and their babies. Please consider a hour of your time on the 14th of October, if you are unable to attend that day you may go to the clinic and pray any time! Thank you for your commitment to LIFE! God bless! www.40daysforlife.com/GrandRapids.

A very upset priest walked into a fish market and says, “I want you to throw me four or your biggest fish… Just toss “em over to me.” “But why toss them to you the man asked? “Can’t I just wrap them and give them to you like everyone else?” “No, Sir!” yelled the priest. “Do just as I say, so if anyone asks me if I caught any fish on my day off, I can truthfully say, “Sure did! Caught four big ones!”
