Training Sessions for New Altar Servers in October

If you are in 4th through 12th grade, not currently an altar server and would like to become one at the Church of Saint Joseph, there will be new Altar Server training sessions on the following dates: Saturday, October 15th, Saturday, October 22nd, Saturday, October 29th, Saturday, No-vember 5th. All these training sessions will oc-cur from 11:30AM-12:30PM at the Church of Saint Joseph. Attendance at every session is re-quired. If you are interested in becoming an altar server and attending the training or if you have any questions, problems, or concerns, please con-tact Fr. Matthew MacDonald at (914) 232-2910 or at [email protected]

OF MANY THINGS…..

1. This week our landscaping crew is raking out and spreading grass seed in St. Joseph’s

Cemetery. I am sure that when you look out at your gardens and lawns you can appreciate the fact that this area has received about 7 inches less rain than is usual for this time of year. Consequently, our cemetery has not looked as good as it has in the past. Hopefully, this re-seeding will take and things will be back to normal.

2. We are anxiously awaiting the delivery of the lettering for the new sign that was recently

erected in the oval as you enter from Plum Brook Road. The sign will incorporate the name of the parish as well as the schedule of masses.

3. The Donor Board project is a work in process. The task of making sure that all names are in-cluded is very time consuming. Thank you for your patience.

4. A very generous parishioner has removed the benches that were located in front of Mary’s Garden in order to re-finish them. Another

parishioner has contacted us and volunteered to enhance the area with new plantings. It’s nice to see a growing interest in this beautiful shrine.

5. Just a heads up. The Annual Mega Raffle will commence in a few weeks and this year’s parish fund raiser promises to be the best yet with more cash prizes which means more opportunities to win! We will keep you posted.

Thanks for your continued support.

Beginning in October, we will place the names of those who are sick and infirm in the weekly bulle-tin. Please note that all requests must come from the person themselves or a family member. Those names will be inserted in the bulletin for a one month period.

We encourage all of our parishioners to place these names and any other intentions in the Inter-cessory Prayer Book located near the Reconcilia-tion Room (The Confessional) directly in front of the doorway leading to the side hallway. Each weekend the prayer of the faithful includes the petition, “For all those names in the intercessory prayer book.” We will continue to place all of our beloved deceased in the Prayer of the Faithful as we have done in the past.

Each month those among us who have received the Sacrament of Baptism and the Sacrament of Matrimony will be printed in the Bulletin as well.
