Yea! The year has come to an end. You know the year I mean? It is the Liturgical year. This week we enter the last week of the Church’s year and on this day we celebrate it as Christ the King. It is like the church from Advent was leading us to reach a conclusion, that Jesus is our King and we must live in the direction of our King that we may enjoy His protection. If you recall the history of the peo-ple of God, they were made a nation without a human Sovereign because the law of God was the sovereign. However they wanted to be like other nations who have human sovereigns. Though Samuel tried his best to dissuade them when he told them the many things the King will exact from them ( 1Sam:8 ) yet they insisted. They got their king and saw how it was for them under the different Kings, but through the Prophet Ezekiel God hinted of His determination to come to take up His throne as those kings have not been wonderful. This motive created all the messianic dreams in the people up to the time of Jesus. Some thought He was the one until they were disappointed by His lack of a standing army to get all things by force. However we know that at His trials He accepted being King, when asked. He said this was why He came into the world (Mk 15, 2 ) and all on the side of truth listen to Him. Are you on that side? Well, it is not what you answer but what you live by (the words of Jesus or not). Every King has some roles part of which is judging his subjects. Jesus our King will equally judge us, at the end of time on how we lived His Truth. Fortunately He had given us a heads-up on what the judgment will be about. An Igbo proverb says that “a pre-planned war doesn’t overtake a cripple”. Why? The cripple starts on time to migrate knowing his inabilities. In the same way anyone who fails the judg-ment of Jesus never took Jesus seriously and never showed belong-ing to Him by listening to Him. This is your chance as we end this year and begin a new Liturgical year. Pray and ask God that from the next year you will not allow His words to be wasted in your life.

SERRA CLLUB OF PUEBLO

CHILDREN OFTEN TALK about what they want to be “when they grow up”; doctor, lawyer, athlete, nurse, movie star, teacher, carpenter. They may talk about these roles, but do they ever talk about being a priest , sister or brother? You are the hand of God– you can encourage your children to consider Church ministry. . The process of answering God’s call begins in childhood. A vocation or a talent will not grow to fruition unless it is nurtured in child-hood and adolescence by a Parent. Please pray for vocations to priesthood and consecrated life.

Please keep in your prayers the fami-lies of Anna Marie Koncilja, Armanda Maes, & Henrietta Herrera who were buried this past week.
