L.I.G.H.T. NEWS
ONLINE REGISTRATION: Fami l ies are encouraged to go to www.scplightinfo.weebly.com by this SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th and click on the program info link to follow the steps to register for the faith formation year, as well as our mini-L.I.G.H.T. (see below). MINI-L.I.G.H.T.: There will be a mini-LIGHT gathering on Saturday, September 13th at 5:15pm or Sunday, September 14th at 9:30am. In addition to finalizing registration paperwork and payment arrangements, each mini-L.I.G.H.T. will present an overview of the upcoming year and the diocesan-required Circle of Grace (Safe Environment) program. We will enjoy burgers and veggie burgers, chips, and watermelon. For more information, please contact Kelly Francoeur, Director of Faith Formation, at [email protected].
KENT REGENCY: Mass wil l be celebrated on Monday, September 8th at 1:30pm. Volunteers need to arrive at 1:15pm. Thank you.
SR. PRIEST RETIREMENT FUND: After decades of faithful service, many retired priests continue to serve where they are needed, while others require assisted
living, or nursing home care. Since priests are paid a very modest wage, they cannot rely on Social Security to make ends meet. No longer able to rely upon parishes for basic living needs, senior priests depend on support from this challenged fund. Your generosity will make a difference in the lives of many of whom have served faithfully for many years in ministry - some of whom continue to serve well after their “retirement.” The collection is also our way of saying “thank you” for their service. At Masses on September 20/21, our parish will join others throughout the Diocese in a special second collection in support of the Senior Priest Retirement Fund. Please consider a generous donation in support of our senior priests, including Fr. Friedrichs and Fr. O’Hara. To learn more how this fund benefits senior priests or to make an online donation, please visit www.srpriestri.org. Thank you for your support of this worthy endeavor.
BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS: Anyone wishing to place an announcement in the bulletin, please submit it to [email protected]. Announcements should
be received by the Monday prior to the weekend you would like it to appear.

THE SPIRITUAL EXERCISES OF ST. IGNATIUS IN EVERYDAY LIFE will be offered here, at St. Catherine’s Church, beginning Thursday, September 18th at 7:00pm in the church. The Exercises grew out of St. Ignatius Loyola’s personal experience as a man seeking to grow in union with God and to discern God’s will for his life. The Exercises are profound and prolonged meditation
on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Their purpose is to bring about a deep conversion to Jesus and willingness to labor with Him for the kingdom. The Exercises are a process running 31 weeks, all on Thursday nights. For more information or to register please call Deborah Notarianni at 401-377-8031 or Ada Apointe at 401-497-0793.

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, the truth;
Where there is doubt, the faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
