SIA Recreational Courses

High quality Sail and Power Boat training is becoming much sought after in south east Asia. We

have the expertise and experience of over 25 years teaching students to sail dinghies, keelboats,

powerboats, catamarans, yachts and teaching canoeing and dragon boating.

Our IYT Recreational Power Boat courses are aimed at introducing newcomers to safe power

boating, using a variety of quality boats, with appropriately paced teaching, pertinent nautical theory

and practice, in ideal learning situations. We teach RIB Master courses, Watch leader Courses

and Bareboat Captain courses for Power boat crew. These courses enable our students to become

safe and proficient boat handlers.

We have sailing courses for newcomers or those with some experience but little nautical or

navigation knowledge. Our IYT recreational sailing courses start with our two day Learn to Sail

course, our beginners courses include International Crew courses. Our training continues with Watch

leader and Bareboat Captain courses for aspirant navigators and captains.

Our recreational courses are ideal for leisure sailors and also act as a foundation course for

professional sailors. Zero to Hero courses are available for fast track students, people who want to

become skippers quickly!

Coastal Master and Yacht Master courses are the top end of the Recreational Courses taught by Sail

in Asia. If you want to become a Yacht Master but don't need a commercial validation you may

choose do this course. Check out the entry qualifications and the self test if you think you are ready

to be a Yacht Master?

Coastal Masters are not as experienced as Yacht Masters. You might consider taking this course and

gaining this qualification about two years after you become a IYT Bareboat Captain (if you sail

regularly)?

Payments

• A deposit of 50% of the total IYT course price is required to secure a booking. (Please note

bookings made within 30 days of start date require full payment for the booking).

• We will confirm your course within 7 days of receipt of your deposit.

• Payment of the balance* and where required, the refundable security deposit, is due 30 days

before your joining date.

Cancellations

In the event that you cancel your holiday or IYT course, the following charges will apply with effect

from the date that notification of your cancellation is received in writing

Should you decide to change your course rather than cancelling,, a charge, based on the cost of the

course originally booked will apply, as outlined above. When arranging appropriate travel insurance

Should it be necessary for us to cancel your holiday, you may either transfer the funds paid to make

another booking or receive a full refund.

Client obligations

Sail in Asia would ask clients to agree the following: -

5.1 That the details provided by he client in the booking form, are complete and accurate;

5.2 To comply with all requests of Sail in Asia on-board staff with reference to the operation and

safety of the vessel;

5.3 That the Client will accept sole responsibility for the behavior and adherence to instructions of

any person’s under the age of 18 years

and absolve Sail in Asia from any responsibility should such a person suffer loss or injury.

Information & General Booking Conditions

All bookings are made and accepted subject to the terms set out in these conditions. This contract

will be construed in accordance with

Thai Law and it is agreed that each party will submit to the jurisdiction of the Thai Courts.

• Our yachts are not barefoot boats We prefer you to wear shoes (non slip). They should be

clean white soled and only for wearing on deck. Canvas deck shoes are perfect (plimsoles).

• Sailing gloves

• Waterproofs (usually only required for twenty minutes in the tropics)

• Sunscreen/block

• Sun glasses

• Sun hat

• Swimming costume

• Beach towel

• Small personal medical kit: painkillers, sea sickness, stomach, antiseptic, plasters, etc.

• Anti malarials if appropriate

• Clothing in a soft bag that can be stowed easily

Assistance with planning your course.

Please contact our Office Staff who will be happy to provide information, help with arrangements,

book or confirm villa or resort accommodation dates and provide what information we have collected

on possible travel arrangements to your holiday destination.



What happens if we have to change your course?

It is very unlikely that we will need to make any alterations to your course arrangements. . However,

should it be necessary to make any significant changes to your booking, we shall advise you as early

as possible. In these circumstances, should you decide that you are no longer able to attend your

course, you may either transfer the full funds paid to make another booking, or receive a full refund

of the cost of your course. Sail in Asia courses are designed to be flexible for your satisfaction, your

safety and for the pace at which you learn.

Liability

We do not accept responsibility for any loss, damage, injury, death or illness arising out of or during

the course of activities whilst skippering, crewing, or learning unless such injury or damage was

caused by, or resulted from our negligence or deliberate act.
