Father Bob’s Reflection As we gather as the Body of Christ on this Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the gifts of the Eucharist and of the priesthood are at the forefront of my thoughts on this day. I have spent the last few days and the first few weeks welcoming our seminarian, Joe Tokasz, and lis-tening to his experiences and sharing with him my own journey that led me to the priesthood and the similarities between the two of us. Having shared many things with each other, I have asked Joe to share with all of you his reflections on the Ordinations that he attended last week because I was unable to attend due to a wedding and the First Saturday celebration in honor of Our Lady of Fatima…………………….…..JMJ……………………..Fr. Bob!!!

Joe’s (Seminarian) Reflection

During this time of year we celebrate many of the great feasts of Our Church: Pentecost, Most Holy Trinity and Corpus Christi. Around this time each year is also celebrated the ordination of men to the priest-hood in our Diocese. This year they are: Robert Agbo, Martin Gallagher, Luke Uebler and Cole Webster. They were ordained on June 3rd. The rite or ordination happens within the greatest prayer of the Church, the celebration of Holy Mass. The candidates are called forward from the people of the church and presented to the Bishop who is asked by the Church to ordain them. Here begins the beautiful dialogue of prayer between the faithful, the ordaining Bishop and God. Soon after, the candidates lying prostrated on the cathedral floor are prayed over by all those assembled, who are chanting the Litany of Saints. Then the Bishop followed by all the Presbyters present lays hands upon the heads of each of the candidates, and then the prayer of consecration is prayed by the Bishop. In the prayer the Bishop asks God the Father to set aside these men to be “fellow workers” and grant them the “dignity of the priesthood.” Following the prayer the new priests are vested as priests, their hands are anoint-ed with chrism and they are welcomed by their fellow priests and they concelebrate the Eucharist together. These men who share in the priesthood of Jesus Christ the high priest have devoted their lives to the Eu-charist. God has called them to be servants and minis-ters of the sacraments and most especially in the Mass. They celebrate the Holy Eucharist, consecrating the Body and Blood of Christ. Christ has given this great gift of the Eucharist to us, the people of the Church, the mystical Body of Christ and asks each of us to be devoted to the Eucharist so that we may be strengthened by Him and recognize Him as the bread which came and still comes down from heaven and gives to us life.

ONE HUNDRED YEAR ANNIVERSARY OUR LADY OF FATIMA

In the first apparition, Lucy asked if Francisco would to Heaven, Our Lady replied: “Yes, he will go there, but he will have to recite the Rosary many times.” Often, on his way to

school, he would tell Lucy and Jacinta: “You go on. I am going to church to keep company with the hidden Jesus.”

Friday, June 30th 9:00 a.m. through Saturday, July 1st 8:30 a.m.

“COULD YOU NOT WATCH

ONE HOUR WITH ME?” Matthew 26:40.

For anyone who has never been to adoration before, please consider giving it a try! Even if it is just a half an hour. Remember what Our Lord said to the Apostles on the night before he died, “Could you not watch one hour with me?” Matthew 26:40. Adorers are needed again for our nocturnal adoration. Please consider spending an hour with our Lord and

sign up on one of the posters at either entrance or fill out the small forms next to the posters and return to the Rectory. Thank you to all who signed up and participated in Eucharistic Adoration for the month of June! If you can do those same hours or different ones for July, please fill in your information again on the signs at the entrances to the church.
