SCRIPTURE READING REFLECTION
I presume that you recognize that today’s first and third readings present us with images which pre-figure the Eucharist itself. They presume that we already know and have great appreciation of the Eucharist itself, as the offering of a created share in the uncreated divine life. God offers us the opportunity to transcend our earthly, limited existence, and make an entrance however limited by our creatureliness, into His heavenly existence, characterized by all pervasive love. For believers, perhaps the greatest danger to blowing this opportunity is inattention and routine. Simply showing up to “take” Holy Communion accomplishes little to perhaps nothing! Rather the Eucharist is something to be prayed, and our prayer must involve our willingness to die to self, so that we may be united with the dying and rising of Christ as a loving indication of willingness to do God’s will, not our own. This is the understanding Vatican Council II had in proclaiming that the Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life. For it to be more than bread and wine requires not only the words of consecration by a priest, but our prayerful disposition as well.
Our Altar Bread and Wine for the month of June has
been gifted in memory of Marie and Thomas Styles
(Wed. Anniv) by their Family.

Sacred Heart Memorial Fund has a Good Purpose Some of
you may be aware of the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund. For those
who are not aware, Father Yanas, along with the members of
the Liturgy and Finance Committees are pleased to tell you that
as of this year, all bequests made in memory of a relative or
friend will be placed in the Memorial Fund Account and will be
earmarked for refurbishing our pews. As many of you have stat-
ed, this project is long overdue and is now a top priority. For
your convenience, Memorial Fund Envelopes are available on the
bulletin table, or at the rectory, with the program at a funeral, and
most times during the wake service at the funeral home.

STREAM Program Update:
Our teachers have been trained in STREAM through the
Massachusetts based organization of STREAM. STREAM is an
innovative framework of hands on instruction whereas students
explore a selected topic across the content areas of science,
technology, religion, engineer ing, ar ts and mathematics.
This program incorporates up to date, cutting edge educational
concepts and practice that demonstrate the quality education that
students receive at a Catholic school in our diocese. Learning
occurs at an individual student pace based level enhanced by the
collaboration between peers and instructors.
The students had three opportunities to explore a topic of their
choice over an eight week cycle. Design, research and construction
will culminate in a fully developed project which culminates in a
demonstration day for all.
Our program is also rather unique because our project groups
are formed by student interest with a multi-aged approach. For
example, Sally in grade five may select “robotics” and find herself
working with other students from grades 3 through 6.
Some of this year’s STREAM activities included: rockets (gr. 3-
6), bridge construction (gr. 4-6), CO2 car racing (gr. 4-6), robotics
(gr. 3-6), agricultural engineering (gr. K-6), architecture (gr. 3-6),
understanding simple machines (gr. K-6), light circuits (gr. 4-6),
engineering a shelter for a Lego person (Pre K), building a toy
chute (Pre K), pool noodle engineering wall (Pre K), building a
sculpture from nuts and bolts (Pre K), theme based musical (gr. 4-
6), look at me now (gr. 3-6), making a compost bin (gr. K-3), make
your own snack machine (gr. K-3), a new ride at Disney World
(gr. K-3) and so much more.
2019-2020 Registration Reflections:

all to visit and enroll their child (ren). As always, you are all
invited to schedule a personal tour of your school at any time.
Simply contact the school office at 518-274-3655 to make these
arrangements. We know that you will be amazed at all of the
wonderful things that are happening here.
Wonderful News: our 2019-2020 UPK 3s and 4s are currently full
