Dear Friends In Christ, Today we celebrate the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Scripture scholar Doctor John Bergsma writes this:
*Ordinary Time focuses on the growth of the Church. I would prefer we called it
“Extraordinary Time,” because there is nothing ordinary about the Second Person of the Divinity
becoming en-fleshed in our presencethrough the Sacraments.
He then writes this:*At this time in the Church year, it can feel like we’re “stuck” in Ordinary Time until the end of
November. Not that that’s a bad thing! Ordinary Time has extraordinary insights.
As we continue our journey through the Gospel of Matthew during this liturgical year, it is good to have a perspective like his in order to enjoy the Word of God and to enter more deeply into the many mysteries that unfold in our lives through it. There is certainly nothing ordinary about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and there are surely many extraordinary things taking place in our midst by the grace of God! Enjoy this time of summer and seek refreshment, rest and peace in our extraordinary God.
Peace,Father Nordeman
On Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the 5:00pm Vigil Mass,

WHEN WE CAN’T RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION, MAKE A SPIRITUAL
COMMUNION! ACT OF SPIRITUAL
COMMUNIONMy Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above
all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually
into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
