2017-2018 CALLED TOGETHER -- GIVING, SHARING, SERVING
COMMITMENT WEEKEND
September 30-October 1, 2017
On this Commitment Weekend for Called Together – Giving, Sharing, Serving, the Appeal Office is very grateful to share the good
news that 22.5% of the Diocesan Goal has already been pledged with an equivalent amount of $90,187.
Two parishes are at, or over 65% of their parish goal: St. Patrick’s Parish, McBride is at 70.4% and St. Andrew’s Parish, Fraser
Lake 65.9%. Thank you for your continued support to the diocese.
Called Together – Giving, Sharing, Serving is more than just another collection. Christian stewards recognize God as the source of all
of our many gifts. We are grateful for these abundant gifts and are eager to give back in appreciation to demonstrate our love for
Christ and for one another. All of us share as Christ’s disciples in the mission of the Diocese of Prince George. Many thanks to all
who completed a pledge form and have moved us closer to our goal as a parish family.
Parish Goal: $40,839.00 Total Pledged: $12,370.00

SACRED HEART SCHOOL NEWS
The October School Mass is planned for Friday, October 6, beginning at 9:00am. Our theme will be Thanksgiving. The ministries
will be provided by Ms. Ruddy's Grade 6/7 students. All welcome!
The after-school Cross-Country Panther Running Club for Grades 2-7 is in full swing. Our runners will participate in the annual
Kodiak Meet at I.C. school on October 4th. This program is designed to promote healthy living for our students and staff. Good
luck, Panthers!
Also on October 4th, we will mark the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of the Kindergarten classroom. We are planning a
school-wide picnic thanks to the Knights of Columbus. It will also be school picture day.
Our school families attended the Meet-the-Teacher evening last week. This began with a pot-luck supper followed by classroom
presentations. Sacred Heart School staff outlined exciting plans has for this school year. It was great to meet new and returning
school families. Show Choir provided a special performance! Thank you to our singers and directors, Mr. Ceaser and Mrs. Smith.
Ms. Ruddy and her students hosted the Terry Fox Assembly last week in preparation for the annual S.H.S. Terry Fox Walk on
October 6th. Fantastic challenges were revealed as we fund-raise for cancer research in memory of this great Canadian.
FAMILY FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM All families with children in grades K-7 who are not registered in a Catholic school are
invited to join the Family Faith Formation Program for the 2017/2018 school year. For
children preparing for their Sacraments, it is required for them to either be attending
Catholic school, or the Family Faith Formation Program with their parent(s) as part of
their preparation. Our next meeting is this Sunday, October 1 from 2:30pm-4pm at St.
Mary’s School gym. We are still accepting registrations. If you have any questions
please call Claudia at Sacred Heart Cathedral or St. Mary’s Parish.
