O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all.The earth is full of your creatures. They all depend on you to give them food as they need it.When you supply it, they gather it. Allowing God to Shape Us Call to Confession

The psalmist declares that there is nowhere we can go that is separated from the presence of God, who creates and loves us, searches us, knows us completely, and redeems us. With this assurance, let us pray our prayer of confession together.

Prayer of Confession (Unison) Sovereign God, you have given us a world of beauty, and we have abused it; a world to feed us, and so many go hungry; a world of riches, and we hesitate to share gener-ously; a world to care for, and we think first of ourselves. Forgive us, merciful God, for those times your heart is saddened by our arrogance and selfishness. Enable us to see this world anew as a gift from you, to be cherished and shared, and those who

live upon it to be loved and nurtured. We ask these things that your name may be glorified, through the beauty of this world, and the service of our lives. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon (Responsive) Based on Titus 2:13-14; 2 Cor. 9:15Our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! Amen.

Coming Before God’s Open Word Blessing upon Our Children and Invitation to Youth Sunday School (Unison)

Creator God, assure our children that heaven, earth, and all the powers of nature and humankind are controlled by your command. Bless them with confidence and hope as they learn to place their trust in you. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination Scripture Lesson Job 38:1-7, 34-41 Message “Brace Yourself, God's Answer May Be a Question.” Interpreting God's Word Together, Testimonials, and Prayer of Blessing

Silent Prayer for Those Seeking to Acknowledge Christ as Their Savior:"Dear Jesus, I confess that I'm a sinner, and not right with you. I repent and ask forgiveness. I believe that you died on the cross to take my punishment and to pay the price for my sins. I believe that you rose from death to give me new life. Wash me clean from all sin, shame, and guilt, and come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. In your name I pray. Amen."

Celebrating God, His Care, and His Abun-dance

Offering/Offertory *Doxology #809 Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow*Offertory Prayer (Unison)

Father God, for whom and through whom all things exist, you are the Sovereign of the universe! Yet you have named us among your beloved children, called us to live as brothers and sisters of Christ, and enlisted us in the work of advancing your kingdom. May these offerings be used to bring the hope and grace of the Gospel to others, both near and far, whom you know and love. Amen.

Prayer Requests, Pastoral Prayer. and The Lord’s Prayer*Prayer Hymn #101 My Jesus, I Love Thee *Blessing, Benediction, and Response Hymn By the Gift of God’s GraceBy the gift of God’s grace may your burdens be light and your heart with his love be aglow.

May your spirit be glad, may your soul be at rest, and may Christ grant you peace as you go. Amen.

IMPORTANT STEWARDSHIP UPDATE

Our offering last Sunday was $2,136, more than $1,000 dollars short of the $3,200 needed weekly to cover KRC’s daily operating expenses. Our deficit is now $1,442 after meeting this past week’s expenses.

Income-to-date: $137,433 - Expenses-to-date: $138,864

At Consistory’s direction, Stewardship Ministry has transferred $10,000 from General Reserves to KRC’s checking account to provide badly-needed cash flow to meet KRC’s daily operating expenses. Due to the limited funds in the General Reserve account, transfers such as this are made rarely, only on an emergency basis, and with the expectation that the account will be replen-ished in the near future.

Stewardship Ministry reminds everyone to prayerfully consider how they might ad-just their giving so we can avoid falling further behind and having to tap into our very limited reserves to meet budgetary obligations.

Inspired by the abundance with which the Lord has blessed us, let us continue, as his faithful stewards, to be ever mindful of the need

to maintain a weekly offering sufficient to cover our commitments.

~THANKSGIVING GROCERY COLLECTION FOR THE VALATIE FOOD PANTRY~ Thanksgiving Food Baskets will be given again this year to families who use the Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry and request one. The baskets include turkey and all the trimmings for Thanksgiving dinner. In conjunction with the Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry’s financial appeal in support of its Thanksgiving Food Basket program, Outreach Ministry will be con-ducting a Thanksgiving grocery collection for the Valatie Food Pantry again this season. The program will begin today, October 21, and end on November 11. Bagged grocery items may be placed in the foyer outside the Sanctuary or in the hallway adjacent the Fellowship Room. The food items may include canned cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, pumpkin pie mix; boxed instant mashed potatoes, brownie mix, stuffing mix, sugar, or whatever your heart decides to share. All contributions will be much appreciated! If you would like to help deliver food parcels to the pantry, it can be arranged at your convenience by contacting Jane Deane at (518) 758-7051. Many thanks for your kind donations which will make a truly Happy Thanksgiving for the needy among us! If you would like to help financially, checks may be made payable to “Kinderhook Re-formed Church” with “Thanksgiving Baskets” on the memo line and dropped into the offer-ing plate. As a result of last year’s food collection drive and financial donations, many needy families in our local communities enjoyed great Thanksgiving dinners, and KRC con-tributed substantially to this ministry. Let’s make this year even better!
