Our Beginnings

Sweet America, Inc. can trace it’s origins all the way back to 1965. The Lopez’s family businesses have proudly served the USA and Mexico since 1965.

The Lopez brothers, Carlos and Leo, follow the footsteps of father Leopold Lopez Jr. and launch Sweet America Inc in 2002 quickly becoming one of the fastest growing importers & distributors of cane sugar on the west coast USA covering 18 states from California to New Jersey. Over the years the product line expands and today it includes several major brands from USA and Mexico.

• 1965 First Grocery Store in San Diego, CA

• 1981 La Bodega Wholesale opens in San Diego, CA offering a broad line of USA brands with distributors serving San Diego to Cabo San Lucas.

• 1992 La Bodega Herlomex opens in Tijuana Mexico. Was the first importer of several major USA food and beverage brands.

• 2002 Sweet America is born in San Diego.

• 2008 BakersBodega becomes the newest division of the family businesses. BakersBodega is a bakery ingredients and supply superstore concept receiving immediate acceptance from the professional and retail trade.

• 2015 BakersBodega opens its first franchise location in Baldwin Park California.

• We supply a range of high quality, consistent oils and fats for bakery applications from breads and biscuits to cakes, pies and donuts. Palm Oil benefits: naturally Non-GMO, Trans Fat and Cholesterol Free making our products a natural and healthy choice. 6,500 metric tons per month capacity.
