The St. Margaret Mary parish community recently celebrated lifelong parishioner Jack Reilman’s retirement from two important areas of parish life -- as parish Maintenance Technician and as a long time member of the Friday Night Bingo team.

Anyone familiar with our parish Bingo, whether as a weekly worker or regular patron, knows Jack. He has been a constant presence every week for more years than anyone has been able to accurately count. Suffice it to say, it has been a lot! Jack began lending his time to Bingo when his father was in charge, and he has followed in those footsteps for many years since.

Out of bingo cards? Jack will get them for you. Microphone not work-ing? Jack to the rescue! Bingo monitor flipping out? Jack knows right where to whack it. No matter the trouble, Jack had a solution, or else he invented one.

Not being someone content to sit idle after his retirement from Fernald, Jack made himself available to the parish by taking on the additional

role of Maintenance Technician in February 2004, a job that allowed him to utilize his many skills from fixing just about any broken thing-a-ma-bob to doing whatever needed to be done around the school and parish during the course of a day.

Jack has generously shared his love for the parish in other ways as well. Among his many other accomplishments, Jack was Leader of Troop 393 Boy Scouts for many years, volunteered his time as a member of parish council and numerous other committees, has been involved with Madonna K of C and has been a familiar face lending his helping hands at many a parish fundraiser, just to name a few.

Thank you Jack for your many, many years, days and hours devoted to the care and love of our parish and thanks to your family for the countless hours they have shared you with us over the years. Good luck Jack!

around the parishSEDER MEAL

On Wednesday March 23, Marc Greenberg presided over a Seder meal according to the Jewish tradition in Madonna Hall for St. Margaret Mary and Assumption parishioners. This is the meal that Jesus celebrated on the night before his crucifixion. After prayers and explanations of this wonderful Jewish event, while we had lamb available due to the kindness of Joe Cadle and Alex McGlasson, we were treated to a meal more familiar to us in our time and place. It was a wonderful way to prepare us for the next day on our calendar, Holy Thursday at which time Jesus offered the Seder meal according to the faith in which he was raised.

THERE’S A BARNYARD ROUNDUP COMING!

Assumption and St. Margaret Mary will offer Barnyard Roundup as a Pastoral region team effort. The dates are July 18, 1, & 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This year it will be offered at Assumption. Next year it will be offered at St. Margaret Mary and we plan to rotate year to year. Please sign up your children from ages 4 to 10 by June 12 so we can have enough material on hand. Registration forms are available on line, in the Parish Office and by the PTO bulletin board.

Above: Joe Cadle and Alex McGlasson prepare lamb for the Seder meal. Below: Participants enjoyed a prayerful evening of fellowship and great food.

Thank you to the PYO for sponsoring the 2016 Italian Night. Dinner, games and fellowship was enjoyed by all. We hope you can join us again next year!
