Who we are4D2 Studios is an illustration, art and design studio founded in 2010 in Lima, Peru by artists Rafael Lanfranco and Alonso Saavedra. We have a passion for character creation, world building and storytelling as well as bridging modern art techniques with traditional artistic processes.

What we doWe focus on two lines of work: services for third parties that include illustration and 2D art for print, video, 2D animation, and advertising industries, and our line of artistic decorative pieces. Among these, WAKOS, designed by Rafael Lanfranco, creates a narrative around the redefinition of Pre-Columbian art with the aesthetics and principles of the art toy.

The concept recreates the toy’s playfulness and universal condition, as well as the shapes and styles that we see in vinyl formats such as Kidrobot’s “Munnyworld” characters, the Japanese manga and anime, to combine it with the ideas and deities of the pre-Columbian Pan-Andean civilization. Such characters use resin and ceramics as materials. All resin and ceramic production is hand made by the finest Peruvian artisans who work with us to achieve an artistic and deco rative proposal that can resonate with international markets.
