account the working conditions and the work tobe performed. Use of the power tool for operationsdifferent from those intended could result in a

    hazardous situation.

    BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE

Recharge only with the charger specified by themanufacturer.A charger that is suitable for one typeof battery pack may create a risk of fire when used withanother battery pack.

Use power tools only with specifically designatedbattery packs. Use of any other battery packs maycreate a risk of injury and fire.

When battery pack is not in use, keep it away fromother metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can

make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may causeburns or a fire.

Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejectedfrom the battery; avoid contact. If contactaccidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquidcontacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation orburns.

    SERVICE

Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repairperson using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is

    maintained.

    SPECIAL SAFETY RULES

DANGER! Keep hands away from cutting area andthe blade. Keep your second hand on auxiliaryhandle, or motor housing. If both hands are holdingthe saw, they cannot be cut by the blade.

Do not reach underneath the workpiece. The guardcannot protect you from the blade below the workpiece.

Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of theworkpiece. Less than a full tooth of the blade teethshould be visible below the workpiece.

Never hold piece being cut in your hands or acrossyour leg. Secure the workpiece to a stable platform. It is important to support the work properly to minimizebody exposure, blade binding, or loss of control.

Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaceswhen performing an operation where the cuttingtool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a live wire will also make exposed metalparts of the power tool live and shock the operator.

When ripping always use a rip fence or straightedge guide. This improves the accuracy of cut andreduces the chance of blade binding.

Always use blades with correct size and shape(diamond versus round) of arbour holes.Blades that

do not match the mounting hardware of the saw will runeccentrically, causing loss of control.

Never use damaged or incorrect blade washersor bolt. The blade washers and bolt were speciallydesigned for your saw, for optimum performance andsafety of operation.

CAUSES AND OPERATOR PREVENTION OF KICK-

    BACK:

    kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound ormisaligned saw blade, causing an uncontrolled saw tolift up and out of the workpiece toward the operator;

    when the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the kerfclosing down, the blade stalls and the motor reactiondrives the unit rapidly back toward the operator;

if the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the cut,

the teeth at the back edge of the blade can dig into thetop surface of the wood causing the blade to climb outof the kerf and jump back toward the operator.

Kickback is the result of saw misuse and/or incorrectoperating procedures or conditions and can be avoided bytaking proper precautions as given below.

Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the sawand position your arms to resist kickback forces.Position your body to either side of the blade, butnot in line with the blade.Kickback could cause thesaw to jump backwards, but kickback forces can becontrolled by the operator, if proper precautions aretaken.

When blade is binding, or when interrupting a cutfor any reason, release the trigger and hold the sawmotionless in the material until the blade comesto a complete stop. Never attempt to remove thesaw from the work or pull the saw backward whilethe blade is in motion or kickback may occur.Investigate and take corrective actions to eliminate thecause of blade binding.

When restarting a saw in the workpiece, centre thesaw blade in the kerf and check that saw teeth arenot engaged into the material. If saw blade is binding,it may walk up or kickback from the workpiece as thesaw is restarted.

Support large panels to minimise the risk of blade

pinching and kickback. Large panels tend to sagunder their own weight. Supports must be placed underthe panel on both sides, near the line of cut and nearthe edge of the panel.

Do not use dull or damaged blades. Unsharpenedor improperly set blades produce narrow kerf causingexcessive friction, blade binding and kickback.

Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking leversmust be tight and secure before making cut.If bladeadjustment shifts while cutting, it may cause bindingand kickback.

Use extra caution when making a plunge cut intoexisting walls or other blind areas. The protruding

blade may cut objects that can cause kickback.

Check lower guard for proper closing before eachuse. Do not operate the saw if lower guard does notmove freely and close instantly. Never clamp or

tie the lower guard into the open position. If saw isaccidentally dropped, lower guard may be bent. Raisethe lower guard with the retracting handle and makesure it moves freely and does not touch the blade or anyother part, in all angles and depths of cut.

Check the operation of the lower guard spring. Ifthe guard and the spring are not operating properly, they must be serviced before use.Lower guard mayoperate sluggishly due to damaged parts, gummydeposits, or a build-up of debris.

Lower guard may be retracted manually only forspecial cuts such as plunge cuts and compoundcuts. Raise lower guard by retracting handle andas soon as blade enters the material, the lowerguard must be released. For all other sawing, thelower guard should operate automatically.

Always observe that the lower guard is covering theblade before placing saw down on bench or floor. An unprotected, coasting blade will cause the saw towalk backwards, cutting whatever is in its path. Beaware of the time it takes for the blade to stop afterswitch is released.

    LASER SAFETY

Do not stare into beam during operation.

Do not project the laser beam directly into the eyes of

others. Serious eye injury could result.

Do not place the laser in a position, that may causeanyone to stare into the laser beam intentionally orunintentionally.

Do not use optical tools to view the laser beam.

Do not operate the laser around children or allowchildren to operate the laser.

Do not attempt to repair the laser device by yourself.

Do not attempt to change any parts of the laser deviceby yourself.

Any repairs must only be carried out by the laser

manufacturer or authorized service agent. Do not replace the laser with a different type.

    INTENDED USE

You may use this product for cutting all types of wood.

    MAINTENANCE

When servicing, use only identical Ryobi replacementparts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard orcause product damage.

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most

plastics are susceptible to damage from various types

of commercial solvents and may be damaged by theiruse. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

Do not attempt to modify this tool or create accessoriesnot recommended for use with this tool.

    ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Recycle raw materials instead of disposingof as waste. The machine, accessoriesand packaging should be sorted forenvironmental-friendly recycling.
