COLOUR RUN SUCCESS
Our 2018 Colour Run last Friday was a huge success thanks to
the collaborative efforts of the P&C, staff, students and
community. We had over 850 runners and beautiful running
conditions. A special thank you to the members of the P&C,
Miss Griffiths and Ms Morphett who planned the day. The final
amount raised will be announced soon, and all funds will go to
the refurbishment of the school playground equipment and
grounds.
BUILDING UPDATES
Preparation works for the build continue at pace! Our old
canteen was decommissioned last week and the temporary
canteen will be ready for orders by TUESDAY 13th November.
The hall and old canteen will soon be fenced off to all students,
staff and parents. This means the loss of the hall as a meeting
and learning space. The hall and canteen will be demolished
and the carpark will soon need to be closed to make way for the
construction of the administration building, hall and canteen.
This means that our CARPARK ACCESS WILL BE LIMITED
TO ESSENTIAL VEHICLES ONLY. Staff will need to park
outside and visitors and parents will also be restricted from
driving into the carpark at all times.
Emergency vehicles and students with a physical disability will
be able to access the school under certain conditions.
PLEASE NOTE THAT “CARPARK PASSES” CAN NO
LONGER BE USED DUE TO THE VERY LIMITED SPACE
THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE DURING THE BUILD PERIOD.
We understand that some parents have used the carpark due
to a disability or specific need. We ask that parents and carers
understand that the car park needs to be closed to ensure the
building can be constructed safely.
Some ideas for the drop off and collection of students:
Mornings:
Utilise the “kiss and drop” zone
Drop students near the crossing
Older students may be able to walk or ride to school
Afternoons:
Establish a spot that is a little less busy so your child can walk
there within a short amount of time.
Arrive at school after the 10 minute rush - there are lots of
parks by 3:15pm! Students are allowed to wait inside the gate
in front of the office for parents who arrive a little late.
TIME TO ENROL FOR KINDERGARTEN 2019
Enrolments are now being finalised for children starting
Kindergarten in 2019. You will need to provide your child’s
original birth certificate, statement of complete immunisation
from Medicare and proof of your current address (rates notice
or tenancy agreement).
If you have any friends or neighbours who may have a child
ready to start school next year, please let them know it is time
to contact the school for information.

CLASSES FOR 2018
Planning and class allocations for 2019 are well underway! As
you can imagine, trying to place over 960 students into 38
classes can be challenging to get everything right the first time!
Teachers have not yet been allocated to classes and we would
like to ask parents to avoid making unreasonable requests.
Every effort is made to place students with some of their friends
and to make classes harmonious and productive for all.
If you are aware that your child/ren will not be returning in 2019,
we would appreciate you letting the office know so we can
ensure our enrolment numbers are accurate.
WEEK 8 ATSI DANCE PRESENTATION
On Wednesday 5th December commencing at 3:30pm, a
presentation event will be held for the following students in

parents/carers. A free BBQ will be provided for all in

dedication and participation in these programs.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
TIMES TABLE CHALLENGE
The fastest students in each
Stage group will go head-to-head
in the 2018 Times Table

selected the students who have
demonstrated an ability for fast
recall of number facts. The
fastest 16 students in each Stage will represent their class on
Tuesday 27th November. Good luck to all students selected
to take part!
Times:
Stage 3: 9:30am
Kindergarten: 10:30am

REMEMBRANCE DAY
Our eight student leaders attended the 2018 Maitland RSL
Remembrance Day Service at Maitland Park on Sunday with
Mr Brown and Ms Morphett. Our school marked the importance
of the day this week with all classes observing a minute silence.
Thank you to our leaders who were great ambassadors of our
school.

Important Dates for your diary
Little Dragons completed their last day of our Transition program in Week 4. They look forward to their Graduation Ceremony
this week (Week 5), and then following on with their orientation sessions in Weeks 6 and 7. We hope students and families
have enjoyed Little Dragons this year.
Graduation: Students are required to wear their Little Dragon shirts as normal and sign in as usual in the community room.
Parents are then asked to attend the hall and await our arrival. After graduation, teachers will take students back to the Little
Dragons’ room to say ‘goodbye’. Parents will then be able to sign them out and have photos with our Webland Dragon
Mascot. Students will not need to bring their bags for graduation.
Orientation sessions: Students are required to ‘check in’ at the community room to receive their name badge and wristband.
Parents will leave students with teachers and attend an information session in the library whilst students are visiting
classrooms. Students will then be walked back with teachers to the community room and await parent pick up.

and organising end of year celebrations.
