Catch TB (or Collaboration for Additional TB Cases through Contacts and Hospitals against TB) is managed by the Department of Health, with support from WHO and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). Malabon’s Story Malabon is one of the new cities added to RUP implementation. It was not among the cities that piloted the Reaching Every Depressed Area (RED) approach. According to LGU data, about 26% of its population (400, 317) is considered urban poor. However, the city decided to focus on three barangays with the most number of urban poor communities. Interventions that were implemented by the city with assistance of its NGO partner were focused on developing systems and strategies, as well as empowering local health managers and health care providers to respond to the needs of the urban poor population in the city. Strategies to improve the access and utilization of MNCHN and TB services among the identified urban poor communities were also employed.
