Dance with fireRTL Televizija launched its programme schedulefor the new 2008 season in spectacular fashion, using the slogan “Be Hot in 2008”.Croatia - 19 September 2007

RTL Televizija's daredevil artists were given afree rein to perform breathtaking stunts andsome fiery magic. Previous presentations ofRTL Televizija's programme schedule had fea-tured the elements air and water; this year itwas fire's turn. Advertising customers, mem-bers of the press and friends of the broadcas-ter were invited to an unprecedented “Be Hot in2008” circus event in Zagreb's Hippodrom.Hardly any of the Croatians attending the eventhad previously had a chance to experience acircus show, since most big circus familieshave not yet toured Croatia.

RTL Televizija offered its enthusiastic audienceof 900 guests a 90-minute circus performancewith all the trimmings. RTL Televizija CEOChristoph Mainusch made a particularly dazz-ling entrance, magically appearing on the stageat the beginning of the event against a back-drop of flickering flames and fountains offire, before launching into a short dancewith a troupe of female dancers.

In his presentation, Mainusch explainedthe channel's programming strategy, summed up last season's successes andpresented the new programme schedule.“Last year RTL Televizija ended the yearas Croatia's number one broadcaster, both in prime time and during the daytaken as a whole”, Mainusch said, sum-ming up his channel's performance. “If

you look at our performance in prime time yousee that RTL is almost always 50 per centahead of its competitors”, he went on.

RTL Televizija is especially delighted with itssuccess in access prime time, thanks to the topratings achieved by new programmes, its new-look news bulletins, the magazine Exploziv andthe soap Zabranjena Ljubav. “In just one weekwe managed to increase our audience shareduring access prime time to almost 30 percent,” Mainusch proudly reported.

The top programmes in store during the newseason were presented via video trailers bet-ween circus acts that featured numerous fami-liar faces from RTL Televizija as well as otherCroatian stars. The glamorous RTL presenterTatjana Juric acted as circus director, guidingthe audience through a memorable evening.

RTL star Ana Begic, from Bibin svijet, was alion-tamer. Robert Knjaz, who hosts the showbearing his name, was put in a box, sawn intopieces and then magically made to disappear. The invited guests were totally amazed that thebox was empty, so they were suitably relievedwhen Robert popped up again - safely in onepiece - later in the evening. RTL series starRobert Kurbasa succeeded in freeing himselffrom chains in a water-filled tank. And theclown entertaining the audience was one ofCroatia's best-known comedians.

Christoph Mainusch described his channel'sprogramming strategy as follows: “keep thebest and introduce new programme trends -the successes of tomorrow”. The main pro-gramme trends during the new season will belocal fiction and some big new shows. For ins-tance, there will be a new show entitled To idjeca znaju - a quiz show in whichyoung contestants take on adults, andtwo talent shows, Hrvatski Top Modeland Hrvatski Super Talent. In addition, anew season of Big Brother has juststarted and there will be some newDomino Day events.

Notable new local fiction series includeNe daj se Nina (Ugly Betty) and Urota, athriller featuring Robert Kurbasa. The hitautumn series Jesen Stize, Dunjo Mojais also new onscreen.

According to Mainusch, the guarantors of RTLTelvizija's success are the channel's clear posi-tioning, its ability to create programme brandsand acquire the best films and series, its sche-duling and programme flow and the high quali-ty of its local productions.

“With next year's line-up I can promise youonce again: we will be an even clearer number1 over the day as a whole as well as duringprime time”, Mainusch concluded.

In the light of the audience's tremendouslyenthusiastic response and positive feedbackfrom the press to this year's presentation, nextyear will see the circus returning to Croatia, albeit with one difference: Next year's 'pro-gramme circus' after the presentation of thechannel's schedule will be open to the public,to the delight of all Croatians.
