Newsletter 1 Autumn Term 25th September 2017 www.sunnyfields primary.co.uk Dear Parents and Carers, I hope that you all enjoyed the summer break and that you and your children are now fully settled back into the school routine. Having spoken with several parents last term we have made the decision to send home a paper newsletter to all parents. These will be less frequent as the cost in time and resources in considerably high. Please continue to check your text messages and email accounts for information that we may send you. Aiming High at Sunnyfields! The term has got off to an excellent start. Children are working really hard and we are all aiming high because we want to achieve as well, or even better, than last year. You will remember that last year’s results showed our Reception Class, KS1 and KS2 were above or in line with the national average for Reading, Writing, Maths, SPAG and Phonics. We were very proud of the achievements of the children and we always appreciate the continued support that parents have shown. 54 55 83 53 Sunnyfields Wall of Achievement Y1 Maple Y2 Cherry Y3 Birch Y4 Beech Y5 Ash Y6 Oak Writer of the Week Shervin Wesam Mya Mehnaz Nick Wajidullah RRSA Postcards Rana Richard Marlon Rana Lisa Anastasia House Points Attendance Cup *** Classes Beech and Cherry shared the award with 98.62% *** Punctuality Cup *** Classes Cherry and Ash shared the award with 1 late arrival *** Special Awards Anastasia, Wajidullah, Mara, Lee & Jinmi passed grade 1 for clarinet! WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! New Zebra Crossing proposed for Greyhound Hill

You may recall that we have been campaigning hard over the last few years for a safe crossing for our children. We are delighted that, as a result, Barnet Council are considering installing a new zebra crossing on Greyhound Hill and we need your help to support the proposal. The official letter sent to local residents and the proposal are displayed on the parent noticeboard and the window of the medical room. We would like to ask everyone to write a letter supporting the proposal to:

Traffic & Development Department London Borough Barnet Barnet House 11th Floor Highways, 1255 High Road, Whetstone, London N20 0EJ *Please quote reference number BC/001031-09

Alternatively you can call in to the school office to sign a statement that we will submit to the council by 19th October.

Sunnyfields on Monday 2nd October at 8.50am in the Hall We are asking everyone to donate cakes to raise funds for this very worthy charity who provide a wide range of support for cancer sufferers and their families. Parents and children are all invited to join us in the hall for coffee, cake and a chance to Guess the Height of the Tallest Cake. We will ask everyone to donate money for their coffee and cake and it will cost 50p per child to guess the height of our tallest cake. Find out more about Macmillan at:

Saying Hello Mrs Ronchetti joined us last term and she is available, along with Mrs Barber, to help you in the school office from Wednesday to Friday. This term we have welcomed Miss O’Donnell who is our new Reception Class teacher. We have also welcomed our new caretaker, Mr Boyce, who will see around the school premises every day. Attendance and Punctuality We have introduced a new punctuality monitoring system and will be sending texts to parents each Friday. It is important that children arrived punctually each day in order to access the full curriculum and to avoid disturbing the rest of the class. Yours sincerely, Ms L Meyer Headteacher
