Section 2 Instructions Read through the instructions for this RPL application carefully.

1. Complete section 1 by including your full name and date commenced and date completed fields 2. Complete section 2 by selecting all of the 22 core units and choose 8 elective units by ticking the boxes in

the far right column (for a full qualification) 3. If you are wanting RPL in a few units and not a full qualification, this will attract a fee of $400.00 per unit 4. Additional elective units can be chosen, however, this will attract an additional cost of $400.00 per unit 5. Go through the support evidence RPL list in section 3 and tick off and provide the evidence (this is not an

exhaustive list). 6. This is not an assessment tool and does not determine your competency 7. When you have completed the application, sign section 4

Provide as much evidence as you can. If further evidence is required the RTO will contact you. Evidence submitted will be referenced against the self-­assessment questions in the assessment tool kit. For example, evidence could include: a construction card, SWMS, JSA, references from your employer/s. The assessment tool kit also has an employer history form which you will need to complete to show your employment history in relation to job tasks you have performed. NOTE: This is not an assessment tool and does not determine your competency in the qualification. Qualification description This qualification provides a trade outcome in carpentry, covering work in residential and commercial applications Occupational titles may include: Carpenter Carpenter and joiner The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as a specialist field of work. The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context. Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 covers this requirement.

Application of the unit: This unit of competency covers fundamental OHS necessary to undertake work tasks within any sector in the construction industry. It includes the identification of hazardous materials, including asbestos, and compliance with legislated work safety practices. It does not cover removal of asbestos, which is a licensed activity.

The unit relates directly to the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) required to enter a construction work site. Completion of unit CPCCWHS1001 covers this requirement. Entry requirements;; NIL

Qualification packaging rules When determining which elective units of competency you will choose. For example, consider the job role the unit applies to, how it will impact on tendering for work, whether it fits in with your employer needs and the specialised industry field of work. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in: 30 units of competency;; 22 core units 8 elective units A maximum of two of the eight required elective units may be substituted by selecting relevant units of competency from any Certificate III or IV construction qualification or qualification in another endorsed Training Package. Some units in this qualification may have prerequisite requirements, which must be met when packaging the qualification. Users are referred to the list of CPC08 units with prerequisite unit requirements available in this Training Package for this purpose.
