ROUTE DESCRIPTION

This circular route takes in the sights andsounds of Southport’s many famous landmarks.You will pass Victoria Park, home of therenowned Southport Flower show everyAugust, and along the picturesque boulevard ofLord Street with its Victorian shop fronts andtranquil gardens.

The route continues past the well mani-cured Hesketh Park, open since 1868,with its numerous attractions including aconservatory, an observatory, lakes andcafe. You will ride along Park Crescentwith the rich heritage views of its large

Victorian houses, pass the Marine Lake, home to various species ofSwan and through the Kings Gardens.

Turn left from the Eco Centre car park and then right at theroundabout onto Victoria way.

Continue past Dune FM Radio Station and the SouthportSplashworld water park and go left at the next roundabout.

Turn left onto Lord Street, with itsmiles of covered walkways and shoppingarcades and continue straight aheadpassing the large war memorial, the TownHall and the Police Station up to theTraffic Lights at Park Road.

Go straight across the lights, Hesketh Parkis now on the right, follow the road around thepark until you reach the roundabout.

Turn left at the roundabout ontoCambridge Road and shortly after left intoHesketh Road.

Continue along Hesketh Road until reaching Fleetwood Road,turn left. Southport Municipal Golf Course, Englands oldest municipal links course, is on the right.

Turn right at the end of the road, go past the entrance to theGolf Course and follow the road round crossing over onto theshared use cycle track next to the Marine Lake.

Continue along the track with the lake to your left and turnright into the car park after the Lakeside Inn.

Follow the edge of the Marine Lake passing under the pier andthrough Kings Gardens up to the Miniature Railway Station.

Turn left out of the park and then right on the shared use path,passing Pleasureland back to the Eco Centre.
