Saturday, 22 January 2011 Mall at Marathon Entry deadline: January 15, 2011 Bed Race entry fee: $500 minimum (non-refundable) THE RULES: 1. Bed Design a. Beds should measure at least 3 feet by 6 feet but no more than 4 feet by 8 feet, handles included. b. Beds must include a mattress. c. Beds should be designed with four functional wheels making contact with the road surface at all times. d. All bed and team costs are borne by entrants. e. The bed construction must include a device for the rider to grip and hold for stabilizing purposes. f. No steering mechanisms are allowed. No sharp or dangerous objects may protrude from the bed. Any bed that collapses or loses a wheel will be disqualified. g. All decoration and bedding must be in good taste. h. Beds must be human propelled and not motorized. 2. The Racing Teams a.Racing Teams shall consist of one rider, four runners/pushers and one alternate. b. All team members must be at least 18 years old. c.Team Captains must be at the assembly point at Bennigan’s Restaurant by 10am and the starting parade line with the beds in place 30 minutes before 11:30am. Beds will be inspected to verify that the rules have been followed and the judging for “best dressed” will take place at that time. d. Rotary Clubs of the Bahamas has the discretionary right to refuse to allow any team to participate who has failed to follow any of the rules, and (in the case of good taste) shall have sole and absolute discretion to determine if a team should not participate. e.A team disqualified for non-compliance and/or bad taste on the actual day will forfeit their entry fee. f. The parade will begin at 12:00 noon from Bennigan’s western parking lot will go around the restaurant, past KFC and back to the eastern end of the parking lot to assemble for th e first heats beginning at 1pm. 3. Safety a. All Bed Racers MUST sign the Waiver of Liability and acknowledgement of the Bed Race Rules and regulations before participating in the race. b. Racers are responsible for their own insurance. d. All runners/pushers should wear athletic shoes suitable for street running. e. Bed riders must wear “pajamas”. 4. During the Race a. Bed riders must sit or lay flat on the bed. b. The rider must be fully clothed in “pajamas”. c. All runners/pushers must be in control of the bed until it comes to a complete stop. d.Teams should not interfere or impede the progress of an opposing team. 5. Awards a. Awards will be given to the teams with the fastest time (1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners) b. All team times will be combined and an award will be given to overall fastest team. c. Rotary Bed Race Waiver of LiabilityI know that running in a Bed Race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I also know that, although police protection will be provided, there may be some hazards on the racecourse. I assume the risk of running on the race/obstacle course. I also assume any and all other risks associated with running in this event and participating in all other activities scheduled including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, spectators or equipment, the affects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, and the condition of the roads, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. In consideration of your permitting me to participate in the Rotary Bed Race for Polio on January 22, 2011, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, covenant not to sue, and waive, release and discharge The Rotary Clubs of the Bahamas, its members, volunteers, race officials and any sponsoring body, their successors and assigns, and its officials from any and all claims or cause of action I may have for all personal injuries or property damages caused by or arising out of the Rotary Bed Race for Polio and its related activities. I also agree to abide within the rules and regulations issued by race officials.

Indemnity and Release for Radio, Television and Print MediaFor sufficient consideration and the right to appear, I agree to protect and indemnify the Rotary Bed Race for Polio, its officers, members and volunteers, and advertising agency, and their respective officers and employees, and to hold it and them harmless from and against all liability, loss, damages, expenses, judgments, counsel fees, costs and other charges, against it or them or for which it or they shall become liable by virtue of or arising out of or caused by any matter or materials supplied or spoken by me in the telecast of the Rotary Bed Race for Polio or any action or omission by me in connection with the Rotary Bed Race for Polio resulting in any damage or injury to another participant or other third party or any property belonging thereto. I hereby give my permission for the Rotary Bed Race for Polio to use my picture and/or name in any publicity deemed necessary for the promotion of this event at no compensation.
