The 2017-2018 RCS STEAM Team is a group of students that find a problem in the school or community and solve it through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. The 2017-2018 team consisted of Alisha Trautschold, Breanna Kipp, John Michael Madera and Kia Haering and coach Mrs. Griebel. They decided that the problem at RCS was students not having a pencil when they got to class. They solved this problem by designing a pencil dispenser for the students to use. We are excited to announce that it is completed and in use in the upstairs hallway.

50th Anniversary of Woodstock

RCS artists Cheyanne, Breanna and Zelda are working with artist Roger Baker to design something groovy to com-memorate the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival. Watch the RCS newsletter for more information to come on their creative endeavor!

KNOCK OUT CANCER

Freshman artist, Emily painted a chair to raise money for Ride 2 Survive. Her chair featured a mountain scene and colorful ribbons of support. The chair was raffled off at the “Roscoe vs Cancer” Girls Basketball game in February. Mrs. Bullis won the chair and proudly has it on display in the Band room.

Lights. Paintbrushes. Action! RCS artists Emily and Samantha, with some extra help from Cole, have been hard at work designing scenery for the local

production of the Little Mermaid. They are creating a mesmerizing underwater scene that will inspire you to get your snorkels out! Come see the Little Mermaid at RCS in March!

The Saturday Youth Basketball program recently completed its 3rd successful season. During the 8 weeks, the participants had a lot of fun learning the basics of the game, including dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense. The skills are taught and practiced in a station format and then reinforced through fun games and challenges, with scrimmages at the end of each session. This year we even incorporated our own version of the NBA’s All Star festivities to coincide with the All Star

weekend. This included a skills challenge, shooting contest and our volunteers even entertained the kids with an exciting slamdunk contest.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in helping to make this program a success, including the RCS PTA, administration and Board of Education, as well as Coach Ahart, Mr. & Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Ebeling, Erick “B” Hill, Ty Engle, Nik Breihof, Alex Rosario, Marc Santiago, Aaron Steele, KJ Feeney, Samantha Teipelke, Brendan Ryder, Alaniz Ruiz, Ben Ackerly, Nick Hill and Dan Clancy. We would also like to thank all of the parents for bringing their children each week and the kids for coming out to have fun and learn the finer

points of basketball. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
